my thoughts: SE must be running there lobby servers off a 486... a knowledgeable company would of anticipated THOUSANDS of people trying to connect to the server at the same time to do file scan/update and would of at least rented more servers temporary until the majority of the updates where complete.. but NOPE. not SE. sorry. if there was a "fail of the century" award. i would nominate SE.

hell at least go to cregslist (or any other JP "yardsale" site) and just buy used server equipment for next to nothing. its not a monumental task. for people who PAY for this servace. its horrid.
heck GW2 has 100X better service and you don't even pay monthly for that!

Heaven forbid they have an auto-retry, but I guess you can see from their error message that they think the error is far more likely to be your computer or network than their own. Pretty insulting when you consider how they wrote the book on interface failure.

I have played many, many MMO's, and why SE hasn't taken notes on how pretty much EVERYONE ELSE does their updates is beyond me. Elitist arrogance combined with incompetence is what makes SE wrong more often than not.

never had this problem, doing my alt on xbox atm and checked 3388 and already down to 2.5 to go. xbox going to beat my pc :/

It's always been that way.

I don't have an alt to load my xbox at the moment which stinks. Just be glad that you're downloading. Mine will try to download the patch file and gives me the "OH TEH NOES" screen.

This doesn't really mean anything as that is just the first file it's trying to download. Others who have already downloaded that one will likely get a different file number.

Simply put, it's just that they are effectively getting DDOS'ed by all of us fanatical players ^^;

I wish I could find that picture of the server rack shopped to have a bunch of PS2's in it.

No, not really. 2ch is a lot more diverse than that! Also, the majority of people who play MMOs, at least the people I know, still have to go to work in the morning.

Besides, the problem lies with SE and their shitty server(s?), no? Not the Japanese public, so need to keep picking on them. There are loads of other MMOs that can apply expansions and patches seamlessly and have much more subscriptions than this one.

looking and pol's data usuage is fluctuates from 0.1 to 0.3Mbps for me which is slow as *** lol their servers connection is the bottleneck for sure
