I know that feeling. I tried getting my Xbox360 controller to work on my PC before and it never could. I gave up and used my PS3 controller, which worked almost instantly.

I also think there's PC version of that controller, although I think it's more expensive.

This work fine on Windows 7, but you may have to disable driver signature enforcement on Windows 8.

any xbox controller will not work properly (by default) for FFXI, mainly because the triggers are pressure sensitive, and do not work like other buttons do.

I think you can just use MotionJoy, but honestly, it was odd to me at first, but after I switched to keyboard, I never went back to controller. Whatever floats your boat though. I have gotten a 360 controller to work fully without the usage of Xpadder, so if you would like I can walk you through the process.

How much work did you have to do to get the ps3 one working on a computer if you do not mind me asking?
