I Shout to sell Defending Ring! I charge 80 million gil for it!

I am so tired of people telling me how WAY OVERPRICED that is. Aside from the fact that if you don't like my price farm your own ring.

I wanted to take this opportunity to explain cost to all the "people" that complain about price.

Defending ring is a 4.5-5% drop rate, according to math that means you can possibly pop up to 20 KB's and not get ring.

Savory Shank sells for 8-9 million, (I know I sell them too).

Doing the math 20x8mil = 160mil lowend
20x9mil = 180mil highend

I am gambling that I will get a ring to drop sooner, HOWEVER I am taking all the cost risk in getting ring. You the customer risk nothing, no ring no pay. So please feel free to farm your own, assume a little risk for yourself, or stfu and buy the ring!

Agreed.
But to be fair you should be trying to sell Behe tongues/Wyrmal Masks on every pop you do, so that'd alter the total amount lost.

Of course I attempt to sell other items. But when I have a buyer for Ring can't always find buyer for others.

Wouldn't you think the buyer would have to pay before receiving an item? That's how it works in the real world. I mean realistically you could just bail before you pay up. Though if you weren't serious, I'm sorry lol.

nah, I'm serious but it's not worth the risk to me to pay beforehand. I offered to pay a little once it's in the pool as a token of confidence but I'm not interested in giving anyone 80mil for something that isn't guaranteed to land in my bag.

I realize this puts most of the risk on the seller but I think it's at least partly justifiable because my account has a more established rep than the seller's.

When selling or buying an item, I have never seen it where the buyer only gives gil once it is in their bag. Always on the pool.Do not give gil till everyone but buyer and seller have passed, problem solved.

Basically this. It is much easier to call a GM and get back gil than it is to call a GM and get them to remove an item from someones inventory. I'd totally be interested in buying this in 2~ months when my server transfer is back up if you are still selling btw.

Edit: just make a contract in game

"I am receiving X gil from you for the purchace of a Defending Ring. If your item does not drop, or you do not recieve it due to some fault that isn't yours, I will return your money to you promptly once KB is dead. Should you recieve it or lose it due to your own mistake, the deal is considered complete."

Then if it drops make sure to ask them if they have inventory room before you pass and make sure you are the last to pass. Makes it very safe for both parties.

Agreed. I think the solution would be to agree in no uncertain terms within game chat that you are buying the lotting rights to the Defending Ring, and to place a GM call immediately if the transaction goes awry.

I don't think we need a thread to explain to people how supply and demand works unless people are just that ignorant.

As for payment, item drops in pool, player pays immediately, and then item is passed. Do not leave room for negotiations after the drop. If all else fails lot the ring for yourself and have another mule or friend there to get in case or second buyer.

This is also why most people do not shout the price of the item they are trying to sell in order to avoid debates. Take it or leave is my policy.

Can also create two mules, 1 on Quetz, one on Phoenix. Give the one on Quetz 80mil and transfer. Give the gil to the mule created on Phoenix and buy the ring. Transfer that one to Quetz immediately. Faster, and cheaper if you delete both mules within the month (vs paying for three months.)

But what I can't sort out is how to cross the river using all seven bridges only once each and return to where I started.
