I wanted to say the other times too but I forgot: the new song is really bad.

It was an interesting episode, though I'm afraid they're going a bit too slow considering the amount of total episodes to expect for a season.

Probably stabbed. Sacrificed on the altar of main character's personal growth.

As much as I like learning about the world of Remnant... weeks like this week are just shitty.
Last Episode: Things are ramping up! Here's an awesome cliffhanger!
Next Week: Ha! World of Remnant! No resolution for you!
Just annoys me.
That said, does anyone else get a Roman Torchwick feel from Henry?

Yeah, I hope to all heck that Tyrian's stinger wasn't venomous.
I have to admit that I was mad at Ruby over it. If he hadn't been focused on her, then Tyrian wouldn't have landed that hit on him. He instructed her to stay back, so she started shooting from afar. She should have kept shooting from afar, every time Qrow and Tyrian were separated. Even if she never landed a hit, she'd wear Tyrian down quickly from having to dodge all of the time. But she should DEFINITELY have been able to land a hit or twelve. It's a sniper rifle. It's meant for long distance precision hits. And she knew to sever the stinger, so why not shoot the stinger off the tail from a distance? Assuming she's been practicing sniping, she could have removed the stinger from halfway across town.
Instead, she chose to ignore his instructions and got him hurt because of it. Kids these damn days. In fact, Nora had a long-range weapon, too. They could have both been shooting at Tyrian every time he and Qrow separated, while still keeping perfectly well away from the fight itself, while Jaune and Ren kept guard.
KIDS. UGH.
Anyways, speaking of kids, Oscar. He's just a child. Ozpin seriously needs to explain a thing or twelve to him BEFORE he gets the poor kid killed.
And Whitley. That guy is so slimy and creepy. I thought at first he was just awkward or didn't know how to relate to Weiss, and that's why I was creeped out by him. But nope. He's creepy, THAT'S why I was creeped out by him.
And sad as I am for Weiss, I'm also kind of happy for her. This takes a lot of the pressure off her. And hells no she's not trapped there! Ironwood would probably help her. She could get a message smuggled to Winter, who would probably help her. Or, best case scenario, she summons that knight from her trailer, hops aboard, and rides that dude right out of the mansion to freedom. It's not like any of the staff is likely to be able to beat that knight (or they'd be so busy fighting the knight that Weiss could use him as a diversion and slip out then.) Whitley hasn't been training as far as we know, so it's unlikely that he's a match for Weiss or any of her summons. All she has to do is wait until Jacques is in a business meeting or whatnot, and there's no one there who's likely to be able to stop her.
Weiss can summon her knight, escape, go check on Yang (I doubt she knows that Blake ran off to Menagerie (unless Sun sent a message to Neptune who sent a message to Weiss, but we've seen no evidence of that so far) or that Ruby is off questing her little heart out, so Yang would be the one for her to go to.) Taiyang would probably all but adopt Weiss, and Weiss and Yang could support each other until they are both get back on their feet, and then go after Ruby. Then they'd just need Blake to re-form their entire party.
Blake, of course, will insist on NOT going back because Adam is definitely for sure going to kill her parents because he's a giant pile of fetid buffalo dung and I hate him. (Unless someone kills him when he attacks Menagerie. I wouldn't even object. Especially if he does something so dumb that he accidentally kills himself. BYE BOY.) (When on earth did I get so bloodthirsty against fictional characters?)
Speaking of bloodthirsty! I understand that Ruby, Jaune, Nora, and Ren are children and probably aren't down with murder. And I understand that Qrow was injured and probably not in any state to commit murder. BUT HELLS TO HELLS, WHY WOULD THEY LET TYRIAN GO?! They needed to kill him. They needed to kill him real good. He's going to run straight to Salem whimpering about how Ruby has Qrow as a guardian, and next time Salem's just going to send someone to keep Qrow busy while someone else abducts Ruby. Also, once Tyrian gets over being afraid that Salem will be mad at him for failing, he's going to be PISSED that Ruby got rid of his stinger. Next time he goes for her, it's going to be personal. Even if the stinger will grow back, he's still going to be furious over the humiliation of it after he gets over his fear.
Okay yes, they are kids. But holy smokes! This is not the time for catch and release! That evil scorpion is going to come back and make them regret the heck out of letting him go. Yeah definitely not a fan of how Ruby was trying to 'help' in the fight when Qrow told her not to interfere. I also hate pretty much all of Weiss's family. I'm looking forward to seeing more Adam and Cinder though and how Mercury and Emerald's relationship with them ends up.

I'd say it's almost certainly venomous, the real question is whether or not it's fatal. It could be something that just slows him down, which would be insanely good for someone like him all the same since one strike with that tail would mean the target is easy pickings for both capture of slaughter.
The fact he was willing to use his tail against Ruby makes me think that it's not a fatal thing because of that very reason. It's something that would make her easy to capture and would diminish her resistance. All the same, if it were fatal, he'd end up killing her rather than capturing her, which may make him happy bu Salem wouldn't be all too pleased, so I doubt he's risking that.

I think Tyrion's done for, I imagine Salem is gonna kill him for failing. Don't expect to see another fight with the guy.

That would be disappointing. It's not every day you see an insane sadistic scorpion monk, for him to have only one fight... would just be a waste of a fairly interesting villain, especially now that he has even more motive to fight the heroes.

Unless he has some kind of secret backstory that is going to be revealed later I really don't care about this guy, doesn't seem like someone they're going to develop further than this.

Unless he has some kind of secret backstory that is going to be revealed later I really don't care about this guy, doesn't seem like someone they're going to develop further than this. The main reason I think he's interesting is because he treats Salem like a god more than like someone whom he simply follows. I wonder what happened that not only caused him to become somewhat insane/sadistic, but also what caused him to worship her in such a way. On top of that, the fact he's a Faunus just kinda interests me a bit more, because we've never seen their animal parts actually factor into their combat before him.
Blake's a cat, but she doesn't use her tail or anything like that to help her fight. The same goes for Velvet. I don't think we know what Adam's animalistic traits even are, let alone seen them use them.
But, that's just my opinion.
Well, after this week's episode,
I'm going to have to re-worry about the stinger. Perhaps Tyrian could control if/when venom came out, so he could choose to poison Qrow but not Ruby.
Or, and this is a bit more far-fetched, perhaps the venom turns whoever got stung to Tyrian's side. So if Salem wanted Ruby to join her team, Tyrian's venom could make her join that team.
And I'm not very happy with how the writers are handling Blake. Yes, Sun interrupted an important moment, and yes, Sun was being annoying. But domestic abuse is domestic abuse, and it's NOT okay. I hate how the writers keep having her slap him around. Maybe it's just that that's what she knows, since her relationship with Adam was abusive, but they need to stop trying to make domestic abuse normal or cute or funny or whatever they are aiming for here.
And they need to stop having Sun just accept that his crush is abusing him and keep going back for more. He doesn't deserve that no matter what moment he interrupted. I think a slow acting poison is the most likely thing for the stinger venom. It'd give them time to cure Ruby whilst slowing her down from the initial shock it'd cause her system(since it seemed to slow Qrow down a lot after the hit itself, let alone once it set in) while it'd also leave it as being fatal to those who're meant to be killed. Best of both worlds.
As for the Blake thing, I generally agree, but at the same time she's still stressed as all hell due to what's been happening. She's gone through a lot and she's trying to just slow down for a moment, reconnect with a family she abandoned, and relax for a moment before going back into the harsh reality she finds herself in. But now, she had a moment where she was finally working through some of her problems ruined by Sun's inability to respect any sort of boundaries with her. I mean, when you think about it he's basically stalked her since she left Beacon and now he's eavesdropping on her private affairs. If I have an issue with anyone, it's Sun. He's got no concept of personal boundaries nor any personal activities it seems, he's just up Blake's *** constantly with the occasional side thing mentioned like him at the market or talking to Blake's mother.

It's just a cartoon. Those slaps are for comedic value only.
By oldman 2017-01-02 14:08:07
But here is the thing. If the tables were turned and it was Sun who was slapping Blake left and right, no matter what she did or what his problems and traumas were, people would be furious. And I simply can't understand why women aren't held to those same standards. If it's abuse when a man hits a woman, then it's abuse when a woman hits a man. And the only excuse for it is if you're defending yourself or defending someone else. Period. Full stop. But Blake was not defending herself. Sun is dumb, not malicious. And he has never raised a hand to her.

It's not filler, I actually thought this was a very good episode unlike some others like the initial ones, the pace was good and it fleshed out all the characters.
Also the chameleon girl is really cool.
