my cpu is over heating and is going into safe mode speed (800mhz) which is complety unplayable when quad boxing

at full speed the game is only enjoyable because i use a software to control that the game instance that is active and in focus is getting a higher cpy prioty making the 3 others "receive" all the lag.

question 1: is there any possible way (not in bios already checked) way to disable intels over heating safe feature by software?

since know i can get it out of fail safe mode by running all cpu intensive software on core 0 only and thereby reducing my cu utilization to ~50% in average.
after a little bit it will pop back up at full speed where i again can give full acpu affinity to all game process.

question 2: is there any easy way to make all you running process get affinity set to just cpu 0 ?

while im basically running the 4 game instance in a 800mhz process it would be nice to fast reduce all cpu hogs in the games.

questions 3. is there a script that can be run to disable shadows, weather effect, all spell/combat effect etc etc

You know why overheating safety features are there right? To prevent it from burning your cpu out. I'd not recommend turning that off, instead look at your cooling solution and change that.

Manufacturers typically use shitty thermal paste. If you are comfortable opening it up; pretty easy to clean off and replace with a higher end paste.

I use to have similar issues like that with my laptop overheating and shutting off. This fixed mine but if you're using a desktop, you might have to look into the cooling solution like Sekundes recommended.

You also may want to check into Speedfan

iv heard that the CORSAIR Hydro Series is a great line of CPU cooler that is future proof. Also pick up some Arctic Silver Thermal Compound if you plan on getting a new CPU cooler

just an update i realized there was no cpu info

its an intel p8400 cpu in a msi megabook gx620 laptop

perfectly aware of it. but since neither core 0 or 1 hits thermal junction max (-12degress c at max temp) and the lappy just need to hold together until my main rig arrives. i dont mind melting bit of plastic if it helps ffxi run better, until im done. with my fight and can et the lappy some breathing room

already cleaned it

already cleaned it

i have my lappy op in 3 marker to give it an ½ of inches more space below it for better airflow

just now i broke off some of the air vent bars to increase the intake hole

the heat pipes will not make proper contact with thermal paste its designed for stupid thermal pads

If the heatsink isn't making a good contact, there's very little you can do other than Vagrua's method or just playing in your local butcher's meat freezer and neither of those options will help that much since the entire laptop is acting as an insulator for the heat since the heat distribution and removal system isn't working properly.

Best bet is to get a new thermal pad. They aren't that expensive and even if you have a new one on the way, never hurts to have an extra computer around that works.

my very first laptop was an asus, had a pretty beefy radeon card in it, after about 1yr of solid use, i was having cpu/gpu overheating problems, bought a cooling pad and they went right away, even preferred using the cooling pad as it gave me 2 extra usb ports lol.
