Really depends on what your fighting. Obviously on HNMs your gonna need more int/macc/elemental magic. Assuming you mean nuking when comparing blm to sch. Sch is gonna have a harder time getting there but it is possible to reach high enough to cap you macc though extremely hard. Or do you mean in zerg power or in lasting or on xp mobs?

The top gear set is whatever maximizes your capabilities at the given moment, be it an ideal idle set, hMP set, power nuking, enfeebling, resist set, dark magic set, or anything else. There is no such thing as a single ultimate set, for these or any other jobs.

Best nuking gear for BLM Unless its something major resistant, like Cerby, but who nukes on him anyway?

Give it a read Read it long time ago... it really only explores the nuking side which granted is probably the poitn of this thread but still on HNMs until they get better macc/skill gear or at lesat make the current stuff more realistic to get pretty much no is gonna have kaekos OLD set.

Sorcerer Belt, Tamas, and Prudence torque when MP > 50% please :d If it ain't resistant (i.e 0.95 un-resisted rate) I don't even see the point of using Omega Ring or witch sash. Stack int and forget about that small MaCC increase who won't change anything in 99% of situation.

ANd again situational... and with that set even with full merits your looking a combine 317macc/skill and maybe around 127 int if your taru and only on ice spells. On most semi resistan stuff like HNMs your riding the line as is switching to non ice spell would hurt enough where youd probably want to swap in more macc/skill gear which will kill your set bonus blah blah blah... that being said if it isnt said mob youll be fine swapping in snow ring for omega.

With latents on, those gears > any. While MP > 50%, Elemental or Torque > Pendant. Omega Ring helps get the resist rate lowered. It basically better than a Snow.

I don't see how those gear > any since you are not achieving maximum damage and prefer to add MaCC that wont be useful in "unresisted" situations.
Also it's not like +5MaCC (2 witch sash / 3 omega ring) will increase that much your hit rate. Especially when you already capped or near cap (>0.94).

Not everything gives you perfect resist rate though.
The big ***has a bigger resist rate, and MAcc doesn't have to be just elemental magic either. Some *** (like puddings) could use some MAcc on stuff like rings and waist, where there are no (or rare) Enfeebling magic skill on it.
BTW: My gear has +15 MAcc, not +5.

BTW: My gear has +15 MAcc, not +5. I'm talking about MaCC delta here, comparing S.belt + Snow vs Witch+Omega. Delta is 5MaCC/-3INT (so "roughly" 3.5 MaCC) and 3.5MaCC is bs for a top grade BLM when nuking ***tier mob. I saw my stuff evolving recently, when i changed Z.mitts for Morri hands i instantly got +5MaCC, full time, I never ever noticed and measured a difference on "normal" mob I'm usually nuking. This include puddings, Apollyon NW/SW, dynamis dreamland mob, Brothers/ODS mobs, some random EP~VT mob accross common areas, salvage boss (when fully geared), etc... Come on, when you nuking with 140INT+, 292+ Eleskill, and 10MaCC, you know that extra MaCC is completely useless. (value I took here are with neutral staff (i.e non ice)). I just don't see the point of making something hybrid when nuking non resistant mobs. A good test is comparing Blizzard IV resistance rate with Thunder IV resistance rate, if you can't notice it, while the aquilo's staff provide +10 ele skill and +5int, then it means that 3.5MaCC delta (~3 ele skill) won't change anything since your hit rate is already maxed (or near cap).

Indeed, its either full damage set, or resist set, no inbetween imo. On puddings and things weak like that, you are going to put on your damage set while on HNMs and higher tiered* mobs you will be trying to aim around the 320-330skill ~120int.

I love how Korpg can get proven wrong time and time again, but then just keep arguing that he's the best there is and knows everything about blm.

I misunderstood, thought he was talking strictly best nuking gear if going for a full damage nuke.

This would be my mostly idealistic Dragons Aery nuke set, not getting it anytime soon, and lets add in static earring for MB. http://www.ffxiah.com/item_sets.php?id=111166

How about BLM sucks and SCH sucks? Ressurect a dead thread to talk about something that's already been discussed.

Well the topic is to post what you believe is the best gear set for SCH or BLM. If it wanders off the topic then I'd say something but it's ok for now. but however if the same 2-3 people that tend to argue because of their personal hate for each other, I'll just topicban. It's not so bad to necrobump as long as they are replying to the topic.

See this situational crap just doesn't cut it. Skill>MAB>INT in most cases. Consistency starts with skill. After that start loading MAB and INT pieces. I'd rather be landing every nuke than deal with random resists.
So to say MAB is top is failsauce. Morrigans is the top "show-off" set while mix'n'match rags will always top it.

If you need to think about skill in "most of cases" then your blm really fail. Taking the general monster population from EP and above, it's safe to assume that 90%+ of these do not require any particular effort concerning skill in order to already reach 0.95 hit rate. Therefore can ignore skill and focus on MaB/INT.
BLM need to focus on skill only on rare occasions, these situations are exceptions, unless off course, all you doing is killing resistant NMs. But for an all-around endgame blm, skill won't be his priority. You need a full damage set, and a good mixed set for resistant NMs. Everything that's in between = useless.
