What are people's experience as BLU mage in these new salvage zones?
Any particular subjob and spells you are setting?
I tried Zhayolm Remnants II the other night as BLU/DNC and thought i'd share some notes. I played it a bit safe with /dnc and mostly set spells like I would for dynamis since I had no idea how things were going to go.
Our setup was drk drk sam blu rdm whm.
1st floor *toad path*
With only magic unlocked , this was a bit frustrating.
Can't punch anything, can't land any physical spells without a sword in hand. I was stuck doing battery charge then magic fruit/dream flower/magic damage to support+kill frogs+poroggo NM. We had 2 apoc drk so they obviously got the weapon unlocks first.
2nd floor *crawler path*:
I got weapons unlocked and felt alot more useful and could land stuff like sudden lunge, still mostly naked except swords so was still sticking to support heal/sleep and whacking stuff to death.
3rd floor onward:
SJ was unlocked so i could box step and haste samba. A few spots with links+aggro seemed inevitable (pack of mage/NIN mamools) so again dream flower/waterbomb worked nice here.
By the time we got to all the gears/ramparts, Winds of Promy got alot of use because of artificial gravity spam. I saved the mage the trouble of trying to erase everyone constantly.
Wasn't hard to solo floor mobs after being unlocked. Pretty much impossible to ever self SC if you all assist on 1 target due to ws spam/killspeed so I would pick my own mob/gear and knock it out with a solo sc+burst.
Killed NQ+HQ hydra without trouble, tried my best to blu nuke when it had bulwark up. Mainly used my tp for waltz and threw out some magic fruits when everyone got into red a few times.
The rdm and whm were multiboxed so getting refresh II was random, and if I went again i'd probably set white wind as a healing buffer spell since we had no embrava and to keep me+DD safely out of red hp all the time on HQ boss.

Really depends on your group build. You had entirely too many people, four should be the maximum you bring. BLU should be getting one of the first weapons unlocks because without it you might as well not even be there. Also BLU gains absolutely nothing from /DNC, go /SCH if you need more "support".
I go with a three man group, occasionally we bring a fourth.
Me (BLU, DRK or WAR)
THF
WHM
I've played different jobs in different zones to see how it goes. BLU can be incredibly useful as most of the monsters are weak DC~EM types and a BLU can dump MP to destroy them quickly. On boss's you have Erasega and most importantly Requiescat which gives a giant middle finger to Cerb. Saline coat is also extremely useful on the Dvergr along with Cocoon as a general buff to have up.
That being said, other then BR II BLU isn't particularly better then any other job. I find going DRK on the other zones to be more beneficial, though that's primary due to me having a rag and a solid DT set.

Yeah it wasn't that hard to clear, my 3 person salvage v1 static didnt run that night so I went on that neo run on a whim with random ppl for the experience.
My 3 person group could go to Neo with a BLU THF and WHM or SCH.
If BLU and THF are your DD, does BLU go /WAR then and just set spells for all out damage and rely on the mage for all support?

Only gone as Blu to AR2 so far, so can't really say how well it works in other zones.
Nothing special about the first few floors, any job would work just as well. Sudden lunge doesn't stick for crap on any NM in the place besides Actoliths, so I wouldn't even bother casting it. Going to remove it for my next run, waste of set points.
My spell set is basically my dynamis set as well, with a few changes. Fast cast set, no Quad. Continuum or delta thrust, Magic barrier set for boss at least.
Mortal revolution wipes occultation, and if the 3 minute max time really is a requirement to spawn NQ khim, it can possibly screw over a group that has no way to block(utsu) the move.
I do sub nin here, just working better for my group(mnk, whm, and me). Not the best sub I know, but we are winning and getting drops, and that's all that really matters. Applies to all jobs, but I'd bring a decent PDT/MDT set for the khim's, maybe just leave nuking stuff behind(depending on your storage setup). There's a lot lost from not using /war but the defensive benefits(crutch) of /nin just work out better for me here. Saving points on dual wield as well I guess.
Though we are getting drops, it's never anything we need. Just drop the damn Genta shoes already so we can move on.

I go BLU/WAR as the following,
DWIII
TA
Store TP I (SL is incredibly useful for saving the healers MP)
Battery Charge
MAB (Flower)
Cocoon
Magic Fruit (it's like condoms, never leave home without them)
Auto Refresh (Flashga + WoP)
And either Occulation or Saline Coat. Some zones occulation isn't worth ***as everything wipes shadows, other times it's amazing.
BLU is JADD (Just Another DD) most of the time. Your hit stuff hard and fast, you WS and make things dead. Your healer should be taking care of most cures, fruit is just an emergency "ohh sh!t" item. You deploy your various abilities and tools based on the zone and anticipated targets. S.Coat makes the Dvergr's nukes do a lot less but is useless on Cerb, Hydra and Khimara. Delta thrust is also handy to reduce the number of TP moves the NM's will get off.
BLU is an amazing job but it needs to be played by someone who actually knows how to play it.

Have anyone tried to use Doom on mobs in BR2 on first floors to see if it lands? I recall some BLU dooming all mobs that had high HP in Meebles and worked.
Let me know if anyone tries that!

I've been going BLU/WAR in Neo-Salv. Use the Full DD spell set from the guide switching Occulation for Dream Flower since it is more useful with my groups build (MNK, MNK/SAM, BLU, MNK/THF/BRD, SCH, WHM.)
Absolute Terror lands on everything accept the Mega bosses. (Cerb/Hydra/Khimeria/Chair)
Sudden Lunge works on everything but seems to have a lower stun chance against the mega bosses.*
Plague from Delta Thrust works on everything too including the Mega bosses. This helps a lot on Cerb and hydra as they can spam those PDT- moves if you get unlucky or feed too much TP.
Dream Flower works on everything that is not an NM or a Fomor. Works great on those mass gear spawning ramparts.
I'll try a few dooms next time I go in but I don't think anything will last long enough for it to kill them.
Edit: *Sudden Lunge may work on bosses but has a lower chance of the stun effect landing when compared to the classic Stun spell which made me think they might be immune and they are not, so I edited the post to correct that.

Is it possible to clear most or all of neo salvage with BLU, THF + healer? BLU and THF in pritty much top NNI/VW/Legion gear. BLU with 95 Almace and THF with 95 Mandau (both will be 99 soon). Me a some LS members have been spending the last 2 months or so getting the last few 75 pieces we needed and now we are ready to start neo but we would rather keep to 3 people.

Yes, should be able to. AR2 most certainly :)

Had absolutely no idea Delta Thrust's plague stuck on bosses...
Since it seems to work on so few NMs anywhere else, I just never thought of bothering with it on them, and earlier mobs died to fast to see if the effect actually landed. Though I am stuck on the Khimaira's for awhile and TP spam isn't a huge issue with them, I will have to go back to Cerb's eventually.
Has anyone had any luck with SL sticking on Cerb? Only got to fight him on Drk so far, and I remember weapon bash not landing so well. Not really worried about TP moves, but plain shutting his melee hits down for a little while would be nice. Blu feels so odd when I can't really stun things so well and I have no room for a ton of Macc gear or anything.

Pretty sure the mega bosses are stun immune.

Sudden Lunge follows the same rules as Terror (works on all but the mega bosses.)

Oh wow. Weird I haven't been able to stun them with Sudden. Guess I'll try again maybe I kept getting unlucky lol.
By Gimp 2013-02-05 17:14:21
SL/head butt can have hard time landing its effect versus the traditional stun spell and/or Shock Squall on certain NMs so if blue can't land the stun, it doesn't necessarily mean it can't be stunned at all by other jobs.

Yeah, I just assumed everything would be immune to that kind of stuff when I first went to a Neo Salvage run but SE seems be more generous about status effects these days. I've gotta experiment with status effects more if this is going to be a common practice from now on.

Requiescat makes cerb such a push over. We have a DD WHM who boon spams to keep mp up along with a mnk and brd for extra support and dmg. Blu is awesome for Bha. Remnants. I'm not too sure about the others yet due since we're grinding ritual plans atm but from my experience, blu is awesome in that particular run.

Blu's great for every run :)
Hydra.... has gone either way for my group so far though, the Pyric bulwark spam can really contribute to making you time out ><

This is the only NM we remotely have issues with. It seems it's AI is programmed to weight towards Pyric (or maybe based on damage source). I usually go DRK for that zone and ride Hydra out in a PDT set, though it can go bad quickly if he gets a triple attack with a crit off. Biggest so far was a crit for 795, luckily I had dread spikes up so it just slapped itself.
I've been debating going as PLD/WAR using Rag / Reso spam on everything before Hydra, then switching to sword and board Req spam for Hydra. Though now that we know a high volume of damage in short time can remove a head, we might re-orientate our damage strategy around doing that.

Consider taking your healer as SCH to Hydra. Embrava + Regen V will keep you alive pretty easily, and Kaustra will eat it alive, especially if you can burst it off of Compression/Gravitation/Darkness.

They are Impossible to Gauge mobs so it won't work.
BLU destroys all the salvage zones.

I go BLU THF SCH (SCH is dual boxed by me). We've done like 30 hydras trying to get skadi legs x2. Set temporal shift, sudden lunge won't work, and stun pyric bulkwark. He's really very easy, and I definitely recommend SCH as sylow pointed out. Embrava + haste = heads chopped off very quickly. (Embrava also lowers temporal shift recast by quite a lot).
Also worth noting that, with pizza, heavy strike will land on everything, including the final bosses for a very nice chunk of damage. In fact, all physical BLU spells are strangely effective in salvage. Azure Lore rips the bosses apart.
Yesterday, we cleared all NMs + every gear in AR (including all triple gears from the 4 ramparts) with twenty minutes remaining, and I know a lot of groups skips the ramparts entirely due to time constraints. We also clear every gear possible in ZR, which includes waiting for every reinforcement to pop etc. + both bosses with 10m+ remaining.
Would recommend going /NIN for ZR, and bringing ~25% PDT gear for the HQ hydra (not needed for NQ). For AR, I prefer /RDM so I can convert on the 4 rampart floor in between pulls. I tend to use up a lot of MP with dream flowers.
I certainly wouldn't bring any other job to salvage.

I think the bosses are relatively low level with boosted atk/def/acc/etc. (rather than just super high level nonsense like VW/legion), judging by how well bst pets do.

This is what I've been thinking too. I think this is the direction SE is going to take with newer content, no more Level 120 Omega boss's. Just a bunch of level 101~105 with the occasional 110 that have higher stats.

Anyone tried jettatura in these zones? (I'm back to farming old salvage so cant try myself for now)
I've always liked setting this spell when I also set temporal shift for stunning stuff since I do have alot of macc gear and find it a reliable spell.

I wouldn't waste your time with them kind of spells tbh, I haven't deviated from a standard DD spell set and have done fine, so you should be ok too~
