Antichamber is a mind-bending psychological exploration game where nothing can be taken for granted. Discover an Escher-like world where hallways wrap around upon each other, spaces reconfigure themselves, and accomplishing the impossible may just be the only way forward.

Several years in the making, Antichamber received over 25 awards and honors throughout its development, in major competitions including the Independent Games Festival, the PAX10, IndieCade and Make Something Unreal. Antichamber was also supported by the Indie Fund.

Key Features:
  • A deeply psychological experience that will make you question everything you know about how a game works.

  • Mind-bending challenges that will subvert your expectations at every twist and turn.

  • An enormous, seamless non-Euclidean world to explore.

  • Lifelike soundscapes developed by Robin Arnott and an ambient soundtrack composed by Siddhartha Barnhoorn.

  • A gun that can create, destroy and manipulate matter, allowing you to discover new ways to overcome your surroundings.

"Antichamber will hereby known as Oh My God, My Favorite Game of PAX... If you get a chance to play this, do not hesitate."
Stephen Totilo, Kotaku

"Imagine trying to navigate a world where the laws of physics are always changing: where strange spaces and non-Euclidian geometry challenge your instincts."
Jacob Aron, NewScientist

"Everyone who has played it walks away in awe of the ingenious use of puzzles and counter-intuitive level design. It feels fresh and new."
Ben Kuchera, Penny Arcade

"It's a game about subverting players' expectations. As gamers, we've come to develop a certain way of thinking about games and Antichamber seeks to totally screw with our heads."
Billy Shibley, Machinima

"Even as the developer told me what the game was doing to mess with my brain while I was playing it, it still succeeded in messing with my brain."
John Walker, Rock Paper Shotgun

"As much as I want to get my hands on the finished version of Antichamber, I'm almost looking forward to seeing how everyone else reacts to it more."
Jordan Devore, Destructoid

"It's one of those rare puzzle games where it's not about how much you know, but rather, how much you think."
Griffin McElroy, Joystiq

"As finely crafted and varied in its puzzles as it is gloriously unbounded in its avant garde artistic flair."
David Valjalo, EDGE

"One of the most fascinating finalists at this year's IndieCade festival... a philosophical and visually-unprecedented experience."
Jeff Mattas, ShackNews

"Antichamber takes you through a world where accomplishing the impossible may just be the only way out."
Rob Manuel, G4TV

I just want to know how they made the game...

Some of the things in this game seem so impossible to do, but it does it so flawlessly that you don't even notice until it hits you in the face.

Looks fun. Reminds me a bit of brandish. That game had some odd puzzle qualities that made you think a bit different. That and the walking around and being warped without knowing you were warped...

Ok that is just cool and i think the guys commentary makes it even better.

Reminds me of the old cub and hyper cube moves where people are trapped in a maze of identical cubes but each cube can have different things happen in it.

So.... Portal 2.5?

I know that comment might be upsetting to you starry-eyed gamers. Here. <Lolipop> <You can have this>.

The modern day definition of originality is taking a previously successful idea and transforming it so that it looks like your own, like an original. That's why we end up with super hero movie after super hero movie (also badass fairy tale move after badass fairy tale movie in a more recent trend), 500 different Mario (and various other Nintendo hero) games, etc. Remember the platformer? Since it was mostly all 32-bit could put together, there were wayyyy too many platformers. M. Night Shyamalan is the only person I can think of who actually declined during his career by running the same trend for too damn long... Oh and Stephen King I guess. There's others, I'm sure. That's the issue. It sells to repeat what's popular, so here we have it. I will admit that there are many things that look enticing about this game. But I'm SO over puzzle-guns. The Gravity Gun and the Portal Gun were enough to get it out of my system. I could also get the same geometrical fun from the BIOS on my Gamecube.

...aaaaand that's basically why I don't care when they release any new Final Fantasy either. Kudos to somebody for making another thinking game though. We need lots more of those.

I wish I didn't have work in the morning, this is amazing. It's only like portal in the sense that it's a puzzle game and you have a tool in your hand which you use sometimes to solve said puzzles.

Not every idea is a good one, and the good ones don't always have to be unique to be fresh. You can always twist an idea enough to make it fresh, and you can always make something unique by borrowing ideas and making them your own.

I'm someone who doesn't care if an idea is used over and over again as long as you make it your own. Portal, as far as I know, shoots two unique portals against a flat surface, one you can jump into and the other that you come out of. You can use that idea to reach places that normally would be out of your reach, or move objects that shouldn't be able to reach the destination.

As far as I'm concerned both games are brain teasers, and your goal is to find a solution to the problem. They just happen to both use a gun to get around, one shoots portals and one carries different colored blocks.

I'm not here to persuade or change anyone's mind, but if you want to judge the game based solely on the fact that it uses a gun to move colored blocks to progress through the game then that is your choice to make.

I just think it's silly.

Also there's a time limit on the wall as soon as you start the game. It was roughly 2 hours if I remember correctly, although I do not know what happens when the timer runs out (knowing what the game has thrown at me so far, it probably just opens up something new).

Nah, I don't want to judge the entire game based on the fact that the few screens I've seen only LOOK like portal.

I would actually like to play it sometime. I just don't have 30 bucks to drop like *that*, so it's easy to get critical lol.

Was actually fearing I would be misinterpreted, but you proved me wrong :P Also, I would say this game falls under your "twisted but unique enough" category from the look of it.

Is there a demo?

As far as I'm aware of there isn't.

If you're one that doesn't frown on torrenting to test a game out, there is always the option to try it out.

Just, if you enjoy the game you should support the developer by purchasing it. The developer is Alexander Bruce, and he's been working on it for about 4 years. I'm not aware if there was a team involved or not.

*The soundtrack for Antichamber consists of lifelike soundscapes developed by Robin Arnott and an ambient soundtrack composed by Siddhartha Barnhoorn.

Also, if you do frown on torrenting then there is always the option to watch a playthrough of someone else play it, then decide if you would want to finish the game yourself or not.

The developer said that the average playtime for an average player is set at 10 hours. More critical thinking players would be around 3 hours, and I think the speed run time is set at 1 hour 30 minutes.

Yea I saw that. I got stuck at one point for like 45 minutes. The developer also commented on how players who play a majority of first person shooters would get owned at different times, aka me.
