Not a big fan of AMD or Radeon i use to have a GT630 and it sucks floppy donkey *** MIGHT be able to get it to play 14 on low... it save your money and keep saving if you really wanna play newer games on max. If i HAD to choose from these 3 id get the top one since the processor is the best but both those cards dont expect anything good from them...

Windows 8
Get 7.
As for those builds, you don't need 16GB of RAM for gaming, 8 is more than enough (and 12 I guess if you really want to futureproof).
I'd probably say the top one is best though.

To be perfectly honest however I'd recommend building your own PC as opposed to buying (what looks to be) prebuilt ones from a store. If that's something you're interested in, in the spoiler is currently one of the best, most up to date guides listing best value for money components tiered into price ranges.

You may be able to run FFXIV: ARR on those cards at low or maybe medium. 2.0 will have much lower systems specs from 1.x. Also the benchmark for FFXIV: ARR may be coming soon. Also, is there any reason you want such a powerful CPU? If it's for gaming don't really need anything that high of course more is better but not as much as you would think. Could maybe spend less on the CPU and upgrade the GPU or even pick up a SSD. But I'd lean towards a better GPU.

BTW...Windows 8 really sucks for gaming and just in general. Unless its a touch screen, then it only sucks.

ARR Alpha ran well on high with an amd a6-3650 (quad core, 2.6ghz), 8gb pc3-12800 and a Nvidia 560se. I agree with Xenshi, less cpu - more gpu.

my advice:

1. Don't buy a prebuilt, you're wasting your money. Building a computer isn't hard, there's some nice instructional videos on Newegg. (there and Tigerdirect are also great places to get the parts).

2. If you must buy a computer, buy Asus. It's going to be cheaper than those sites, but good quality. You'll probably also get some sort of tech support. (still recommend building it.

3. Get Windows 7 if you must use Windows, 8 blows (ME v3).

4. You're not going to get a real "gaming PC" for under $1000, don't kid yourself. You're just being fooled by Dishonest advertising.

5. You can get an OEM Copy of Windows 7 online (legally) for around $140, it's much cheaper than the retail copies and if you get a new piece of hardware without an OS it's 100% legal.

Define: Real?

I paid $700 for mine and it's a pretty good rig... not top of the line but good enough to run damn near everything now. (mind you... not prebuilt)

sorry, forgot that you're UK, I'm not familiar with online parts outlets that ship there, I'm sure a few others are though.

if nothing else listen to these 2 bits:

avoid those scam PC building websites, they overcharge for mediocre parts, it's a rip-off.

avoid Windows 8, Microsoft will realize their folly and release something else in a few years, or people will just stick with 7 for over a decade like others have with XP.

Catnip: you have had nothing but problems with your computer. (I'm blaming it on shitty parts to be honest, IIRC you had bad RAM?)

"real gaming PC" can be entirely subjective though as there is no "real" set standard.

and yeah $700 in building it, even if you paid a guy a bit to do it, would still be cheaper than buying a prebuilt, or definitely one off those websites. (for the same level of hardware).

I can build a $2000 rig for $1200 if I get the parts myself.

lol yeah all it was was bad RAM, guy thinks he may have bought some that wasn't being read by the motherboard (honest mistake I guess, I looked online and by what I can see it should have worked lol)

Other then that everything works peachy :)

not really...

I mean RMA's happen on even the best parts, but it's very rare.

edit: and give it a few weeks.

Try CCL, they're UK based. You choose the PC parts you want (and prices aren't too bad) and they'll build the PC on your behalf. It will come fully assembled and ready for use. I bought a PC from them and was very happy with it, and their service. When I had issues with a graphics card failing before the warranty ended they were excellent about replacing it too.

Got a free upgrade!

First thing: as much as I hate to say it forget AMD CPUs at this point in time. Look for an Intel i5. The Trinity-based A10 might stand a chance but don't even THINK about buldozer based AMDs.

Two articles that might help you:

Best Gaming CPUs For The Money: December 2012

Best Graphics Cards For The Money: December 2012

If you can build it yourself or with help from a friend do so. You will save money.

Also, for high end gaming other than XIV, you want a SSD even if you don't know it yet.

Just a little tip, if you do buy it prebuilt try to get it from a US site. PCs cost a bit more on UK based sites then they would to just buy them from a us site and ship it to the UK.

Most sites have it so they just change pounds to dollars, so that shouldn't really be an issue.

I would suggest aiming for a higher rated power supply 450 watts is a bit on the low end more so if for gaming since video cards typically are power hogs better more power then needed then to be starved. 650 watt power supply would be sufficient as it leaves you flexibility for the future.

most power supplies have a 120/240 switch, you'd just need a different cable.

Try to upgrade the vid card and power supply.

As it is its fairly well balanced but can't be upgraded without a higher wattage PS. And I think you want a higher level vid card.

And a SSD too. Really.
