Requiring CA to get the full effect and then only really benefitting if you cast one of a handful of spells is just ridiculous. As 2hrs go it's one of the weakest in the game. This should have been Azure Seal or something, not our 2hr.

I won't argue that nin tanks work well, but it requires many equip mods and constant ninjitsu to stay alive and hold hate, which gets very expensive. It has no natural job abilites that allow it to tank easily.. eg: 0 enmity on the AF set, counter, def bonus etc. Jobs are seriously lacking in the tank dept. This is not news to anyone. We need adjustments to other tank jobs to par with pld.
Warrior: add more tiers to Defense Bonus, higher shield skill, add evasion bonus, add a stun ability, and give an ability that allows it to change from DD to tank like Sam. With a little bit of love the original tank can be very versatile and a great tank.
Samurai: Increase parry and counter proc rate, add a stun ability and maybe an HP bonus. Sams can tank pretty good already. I tanked colibris with Sam without much trouble.
Monk: I'm not sure about this one. I tanked up till lvl 40-45 but after it was difficult. Maybe add Mnk to some equip sets for higher def and evasion. I think the main focus should be on War and Sam, this should balance out the tanking job options.

one job that needs updating is pup, just so SE can give us a glimpse and be very vague on what its actually gonna update. after that happens, I get to hear and see all the lame ideas that ppl think up about the update. And when the update finally gets here, I can laugh at all the pups that hate SE for not giving them anything useful. I love it when SE does that. On a serious note, i believe all combat merits should be uncapped.

On a serious note, i believe all combat merits should be uncapped. Planning out my general merits has given me such a headache... STR, INT, or a mixture? 8/8 Elemental and Enfeebling Magic, or mix Blue Magic in somehow? Melee can pimp out 2 jobs but Mage x2 sometimes gets shafted and melee + mage... forget it, one of them gets pimped out on merits and one doesn't. It's like SE thought we'd play it WoW-style and make a new character for each 75, or at least something like 1 mage character and 1 melee character.

Well, I didn't mean to not mention nin but I figured it was already a given and everyone knows it. Nin definitely needs some adjustments. Which way SE may/will adjust it is anyone's guess. It seems to be 50/50 on how ppl think the job should be played. Re Rdm and the update, I just don't know what to say about that. Composure is pretty kewl, but idk about the En2 spells and stuff. I would have like to see SE adjust it a lil differently...

I will partially agree with you. Sam is fine in general, but my comment was regarding the issue with never enough tanks avail for exp partying. Since SE isn't going to release any new jobs, it makes perfect sense to make some minor adjustments to jobs that have the capacity to tank, War and Sam specifically. Then maybe we can actually build a proper party within a reasonable time frame. There are always a shortage of tanks and honestly how many Sams will tank or be willing to tank? They just won't do it, they want to sit back and spam WS. SE wanted Sam and War as tank jobs so why not just fine tune them a bit so it can be alternate to Pld and Nin?

Enspell 2 aren't that bad, i mean 38 extra dmg per hit is not bad. Sure it doesn't work with dual wield or a double attack, but it still works as good though, enspell 1 deal ~19 dmg w/o any weather or day support.
Nins in FFTA were really powerful cuz of the dual wield, may be give them some higher dmg katanas and a higher sword skill, because they could wield them in other FFs.
I do hope the level cap gets raised so that we can get new spells and abilities. I know a lot of people will get made because they got like 200+ merits on their jobs, but if they could keep the merits and raise them more then it would be alright.
There are a lot of spells that are in many other FFs that we do not have in the game, i think that may be the devs could revamp the spells all over and abilities and traits! Start looking at past FFs and see what made that job unique...

This is why it fails that and +swd enhancement dmg is applied at the end so enspell 2 wont be double dmg anymore. So if your dualweilding you'll actually do less dmg. Add on the need to build up and not working on double attack or multihit weapons and just fails.

Right... because one of the top-tier DDs should totally be a top-tier tank too. SAM x2 cotanking works just fine in exp and in some situations SAM do make good tanks. Kaeko demonstrated a low-man strategy for Sarameya that is functional with a PLD tank but could conceivably work with SAMs Seigan tanking it. SAM doesn't need buffs. What SE wants a job to do doesn't count for anything, because we're the ones playing the game. SE may or may not have wanted NIN to be a tank, who gives a ***? They're damn good tanks, especially at 75 /DRK.

Job updates... BLU: As many have already said, they need modifying on a possible new two hour. A friend of mine plays BLU and he suggested Azure Lore be a normal JA maybe something of a 5-10min recast. His words, "Well, cut mp cost in half would be spiffy lol." PLD: Paladin... I would like to see them have a JA ability similar to that of provoke so they can use other subs in exp battles possibly. Other than that, I cant really think of anything. Blood tank or not, they're great all around. NIN: Ninja. Well, I don't like the fact that they grew into another 'tank' job but meh. Ninja should get an update of sorts, I agree with the 'stun' comments. Even though it is merited even Samurai has a 'stun' attack. Stun would help in putting up shadows more effectively, but that is my two-cents. As for throwing... well I'd love it if nins could do more of that but I am doubtful that'll come into play. BLM: The Black Mage although very powerful (from what I've seen anyway) needs an update. Yes, Manafont allows them to fire off a crap load of spells but it is a 2hr plus it's not as near effective as one would think. I don't play BLM (didn't level it past 37) but lol picture this they had a 2hr that also lets them fire off spells without mp cost kinda like a Manafont+Chainspell. [Yeah I know TOO powerful but is for my amusement. I'm sure I got some BLMs out there to smirk.] Their MP conserve needs to be tweaked some I believe. I almost feel sorry for them because other than end-game I hardly ever see them in exp anymore. o_<# What about reducing the cost of certain spells? I mean, WHM got reduced costs on Raises, and SCH can reduce cost... so why not give the mischievous BLMs some love? THF: Omg steal and mug needs to be tweaked ><: the Dual Wield would be nice to have built in but... I think it's not possible to do that. Call me crazy but I think if Thief got that entitlement along with Ninja, people would complain somehow their job doesn't have it. Why? I have no clue, but there is always someone...>.>;;; I can't really think of others that need an update other than maybe some newer gear for DNC, SCH, more daggers... To everyone on this topic most of people's suggestions were great really. I just picked jobs I know at least something about, so I'm not really trying to exclude other jobs like DRK or something. Further, I'd like to comment that WHM has been greatly improved and I am happy for that. (I am usually a full-time WHM in game with RDM following closely in 2nd.) RDM, I noticed some people weren't happy with the recent update for them. I like Composure personally. I like RDM the way it is. I know this is going to sound a little weird but, if we did need more of an update... Maybe (and I stress MAYBE) AoE Refresh like BRD and CORS can do (It used to be just BRD exclusive but with COR coming out I dont see why RDM can't do it as well.) Maybe make it into a JA thing similar to the BRD's. I personally don't think it would upset the balance. If anything if the right person used it effectively, they would have more time to do the other things they need to do instead of being a refresh *** o-o; Friend's comment: "that'd be nice to see because of how often rdm get stuck refreshing mage pts.. Especially Dynamis <_<" No higher cures or anything like that because that would be bad >.>;; It is true RDM are jack of all trades and master of no other job; however, I believe if there ever was another 'update' for them more enfeebles would be beneficial to both party members and the rdm itself. Other than that, nothing else can make it so it isn't ungodly. ><;

what if this update, was a game breaking update. Remember in ff9, when you could take the abilities, and traits from the armor. EXP with it long enough, and you permanently have those traits/abilities? What if..they made it. So a 75 THF could perma merit sneak attack to the character. So your 75WAR/SAM could use Sneak Attack? LOLLOLOLOLOL Anyways.. FFXI is just total beta for FFXIV. So anything is possible at this point.

@ Nightfyre Lol, I know BLMs would die so quick but it'd be funny just to see it once ^^; I have a soft spot for BLMs since I did dynamis for awhile and had to Raise them everytime they tried to play pld in blms clothing and be like "we're invincible!" /fires off crap load of spells and dies. "ice.. come raise us ; ;" Seriously some BLMs are like little kids. Haha^^ Most that I've come to know are mischievous little crackers.

I'd love to see pre 70 BPs get adjusted a bit more so SMN can be a bit more effective than a healer. So far out of every job I've leveled SMN seems to have slowest invite rate.

Ok i have been playing for three years now and IMO i would like to see the following.
Ninja: A few new job abilities and traits. Heck maybe a spell to get hate better.
Blue Mage: A more indacation on how to learn spells.
Summoner: More Perp cost - gear. Granted the new update for them was awesome i would like to see there per tick cost go down more.
Warrior: The old tank now turned massive DD ummm ya i decent update would help this job a bit.
Merits: I would like to see more of the traits be able to be merited like conserv Mp and Magic ATK bonus to be examples. Heck maybe lower the cost of the Call wyvern ability.
Spells: i would like to see Whm with more merited spells like Town teles would be sorta nice. Nin's should get Utu San os something new since they really need it.
Random things: Lol a new craft would be awesome or like a menu showing you the % on the directions and HQ and such.
I no this thread is pretty long and maybe rediculas but this is whay i think SE should update.
