Thanks for this. The guy who I am talking for has loved WAR for many years and has nothing else to spend gil on, so decided to finish off an Ukon he began way back when Abyssea was added.

He has Chango and a Fencer build set, but struggles in Odyssey, mostly because he's an older player and lacks reaction speed to get from mob to mob. We've tried different things to up his game there, so will try him out with Ukon when he gets it. I'm aware it might not always be ideal, depending on which monster families we fight, but it's just experimenting at this point, to see if we can get him doing more.

And also, it's not just about segment farming. If there's a situation where I feel an Ukon is going to do more, it would be nice to know so I can ask. Even if he doesn't use it often, he will cherish it as much as he does Conqueror and Bravura that he never uses anymore.

The main hurdle in OdyC is simply agility when switching mobs. Ukon will not help with that, and in fact will probably make things worse if he doesn't have the speed/presence to go like "ok next WS will kill the mob so I need to switch mobs while the ws animation is still playing".

The main trick in OdyC is to change your WS macro to have a /attack <stnpc> line at the end - if the mob is not dieing after WS, you cancel the target, if it's dieing then you quickly tab to something else and confirm. This will make you switch mobs without sheating/unsheating, provided the timing was right. It's easier with a bit more lag. It will of course fail if someone else kills your mob.

This is an interesting idea, never thought of this.

Another option, if your combat menu is normally at the top, you can just hit enter and it will accomplish the same thing.

Yeah, I tried this before for myself after you suggested, and could not get to grips with it, so I know for a 100% fact he won't, lol. I'll just get him out somewhere and practice target switching when we have time.

With me, I'm so used to the actual switch target command in the menu. The only thing I don't do compared to some is third party stuff like Gearswap, that thing that lets you move during JA and WS, clipping through mobs, etc. I know it would help, but I just don't want to play with them for 5-10% more damage in a run. When a DD outperforms me, it is usually because of those things, lol.

Still am interested to know where Ukon shines for those who actually have one, though. If there any other cases outside of those already mentioned.

It can easily shine in Sortie, because it doesn't care for WS wall at all.

Does anyone have some POVs / videos demonstrating just end-game gameplay of WAR?

I was fixated on building it because the idea of multi-attack and TPing like crazy was very appealing, and wanted to see how it looks rather than me getting all JSE and JP just to test it out.
