Ahh yes, I remember that-- Same as what Sehachan is trying to say. I'm saying the same thing in a roundabout way as well, just from the JP side. The irony lies in the fact that it suddenly became an "international issue" when the "Kompu Gatcha" affair popped up. In other words, SE pulled an "oh ***" and quickly changed up many things pertaining to Mog Bonanza so they couldn't be implicated by countries/states in the US and EU, as well as from Japan.

Just about every US state has laws (also on the federal level) that question the legality of Mog Bonanza in each individual area-- Any time real money is involved with in-game lottery winning; i.e. purchasing mules, reactivating accounts-- SE could be implicated. Also class action law suits that could arise in some form or fashion (which surprisingly never happened). I'm sure they just made it an "international issue" to help cover all of their bases (and give them time to sift through state and federal law in the US/Canada) after what went down in Japan.

Either way, yay Mog Bonanza is back! A shame I have already told myself I won't do any better than Rank 4 since forever.

It's a trap to get you and your friends to resubscribe for 2 months to get a process weapon, and maybe a 1 in 100000 shot at a not completed Mythic!

Actually they never suspended bonanza for jp players.

Yes they did. They suspended it for everyone.

Zigfield said: »
If you recall, SE gave JP players a bonanza and gave NA/EU players something "similar" that was not at all equal to the JP bonanza. My point is that the reward for NA/EU players were not even marginally acceptable compared to the actual bonanza prizes.

That is not what happened, people were being big crybabies (I can't believe you people are still complaining about it, and you never even went to understand what actually happened) and taking everything out of context. The JP Drawing was a special live bonanza drawing they made specifically for the 10th anniversary which rewarded a single level 99 relic/mythic/empyrean weapon to a single person (Which if I'm not mistaken, nobody actually ended up winning because nobody had that number) that was at the VanaFest (They also had other prizes that were exclusive to people at VanaFest even if they were JP, which also caused some ruckus on the JP side).

On the other hand, the EN side was rewarded a single level 90 Relic/Empy/Mythic (Which ended up being an Yoichinoyumi to a relatively casual player), and while some complained about the level being lower, what they seemed to fail to understand was that the not only did the EN side allowed for everyone to participate, even non-VanaFest people, but that a single person was guaranteed to win, as opposed to the JP one which has limited entry and still had astronomical odds.

Other than the first prize every other rank was pretty much identical in terms of prizes. Even if you seriously prefer the other system, to say that a level 99 REM vs a level 90 REM is some kind of incredible injustice is childish at best (Unless you were dumb enough to pick a 90 Emp).

If it was the other way around I guarantee you the same people would be whining about how JPs got a guaranteed 1st prize winner while we were stuck with no winner.

But the question is, "does crying about people crying result in a net reduction, or increase, in overall forum crying?"

And, of course I'll be back to cry when I don't win anything good.

So you are saying the possibility of getting a 99 Afterglow R/M/E weapon is equal to the possibility of getting a 90 R/M/E weapon? That is the point I am making.
And not only that, but that you have a small pool of individuals from which a 99 after can come from versus a large pool of individuals from which a 90 can come from. Either way, even if they did over-compensate for a "good" reason (not getting into national or international legal issues), it was still an over-compensation that resulted in unequal, and inequitable, potential prizes.

As I said before, I am happy they are bringing back the bonanza and hope that it continues to be what we remember it being: just a raffle.

Kin... if you remember the fact that the 'giveaway' last time had multiple people and their alt/mule accounts winning really turned off a lot of the playerbase

You are still not understanding it even though I laid it out explicitly. In the case of the Nomad Mog Bonanza the chance was going to be low no matter how many people entered it because it was a drawing of numbers rather than directly drawing from the pool of participants.

It was far more likely to win the English Golden Gobbiebag because it was based on the amount of people that entered the drawing, as opposed to the Nomad Mog Bonanza because it was a random drawing of 5 numbers regardless of how many people entered, so it made sense to have the rank 1 prize not be as amazing. This means the Golden Gobbiebag had a guarenteed single winner. People always fail to make this distinction and make it seem like they gave the Golden Gobbiebag crappier prizes just because they could.

For the record I actually prefer the lower shot at the amazing prize since that's sort of the whole idea anyway, but people acting like we were offered worse prizes for no reason annoys me because it's simply untrue. I guarentee you the same kind of complaints would've emerged if we got the Nomad Mog Bonanza instead and ended up having no winner whatsoever. (Which is what happened)

If you simply want to say, they should make prizes equal so this sort of discrepancies doesn't exist at all, then I can agree with that. But to act like they gave us crappier prizes because they "favor JPs" or some dumb crap like that irritates me no matter which side it's coming from. This sort of statements come out of the mouths of some JPs about ENs and I get just as irritated when they do it.

How in the hell is that different from every single other bonanza where people make a huge amount of mules?

I was happy with my mog suit, til I found out people AND their alt's both got T3 prizes lol. Then I got a bit pissed due to their great luck.

Not trying to be abrasive or rude but considering E/R/M are usually same tier prizes why wouldn't you get a mythic?

It was a joke I think. The big winner from the EN bonanza choice 90 yoichi over all the possible e/r/m lvl 90 weapons. Lots of rage/butthurt was heard all round the internets. Myself included lol

That is my only point; however, I didn't state that it was a racist act nor nationality favoritism. Regardless of how I think about it (racism, possible legal issues, what-have-you), the objective fact is that rank 1 prizes were not equal for all players and I think they should have been. But yes, it was a crappier prize because it was! And regardless of who won or didn't win a prize doesn't change that it was unequal prize possibilities.

Why the hell is this an issue anyway? It was months ago and they are changing it again anyway.

afterglow is a troll by the nature of its very existence so it's not like you'd be adding much on top

My bad, then. I guess I have this knee-jerk reaction to stuff like this because so many people that play this game have developed this jaded reaction to JP Xenophobia by being xenophobic in response.

I was more taking issue that you were saying that the prizes were "unacceptable" or something like that compared to the JP prizes, and I explained why the prizes were worse- because your odds of actually winning were significantly higher.

And it really isn't an issue, but clearly people feel the need to keep bringing it up.
