idk if they even patched the brew lock in the last update or not, but if they patched it and this is still working, then you should delete this post and dont post it in a forum or it will be nerfed soon

I'm not screwing with anyone.

You can add precious time onto the duration of your brew by hopping between confluxes. The time you spend zoning between the two is the same as zoning; because your character is being sent from one location to another your timers freeze. The mechanics of zoning would need to be entirely rewritten for SE to change the way this particular mechanic works. I am highly confident they will not do this.

I clocked a brew lasting 5 minutes and 55 seconds by spamming between two confluxes over and over. Inbetween this I managed to kill 7 Isgebind that were dragged to the conflux just East of his spawn area. Without spamming between the fluxes to extend my brew's timer I could only brew 6 maximum - you have to wait for the ???s to respawn which significantly lowers the efficiency of brewing now we're restricted to three minutes of it.

Isgebind is a poor example as well. It's easy to kill him on COR but other monsters you'd be lucky to get 3 kills out of. With this trick it increases the possible number of monsters to be brewed with a single brew for several of the empyrean beasties people liked to brew. The only problem is some monsters are miles from a conflux so for some this will not really help.

A lot of people relied on brew locking, I would feel ashamed of myself for not sharing this with people.

They could find a way to stupidly nerf it somehow, like make brew wear off if you use a conflux. Slim chance though.

Jesus. You guys are pathetic. God forbid somebody tries to share something useful or helpful. Can a mod delete this thread please? =)

People have been banned for stupider ***. If SE doesn't want you to do something, the best choice usually isn't to find another way to do it. I'm sure some people appreciate you sharing it, but telling people to proceed with caution is hardly rude.

I didn't say you're rude. I said you're pathetic and honestly, I think it is. From the first reply in this thread people have been more concerned about this 'getting out' than people actually being able to use something really useful.

And it's completely beyond me how anyone can think SE would ban people for zoning through a conflux. I mean seriously?

Ridiculous.

He's not saying you should be banned, just that the possibility is there. A great example is Salvage. People used the game the way it was made to do something SE didn't want them to do. The situation is the same. You shouldn't take it personally.

You can't compare zoning through a conflux (something people do constantly all the time) to salvage duping. They are completely different. One is something we do all the time, the delay in timers is synonymous with zoning in any situation in the game. Salvage duping, on the other hand. Well, that is clearly an exploit. You can't duplicate items, everyone knew that.

I don't give a *** if it gets out. I have over 200m cruor between my characters. I'd just pop a brew for every 3 mobs whether or not it existed to save time.

SE has a history of banning people for stupid ***, and if someone reports that you're locking brews after it was removed there is a (probably slight) possibly that you could have trouble as a result of it. You aren't gaining much out of it, it sounds annoying as hell to do, and it's blatantly against SE's wishes.

Quote:

And yet, less than two weeks ago, they specifically removed the very same delay from a wide variety of situations. You know, in an attempt to stop that.

They're not different. SE explicitly went out of their way to remove buff locking. You're trying to go against them. Yes, its impact is incredibly tiny compared to what happened in salvage but it's still technically in the same category of "you're circumventing their intentions".

I personally doubt they would ban anyone for this, but it's not too ridiculous to rule it out as a consequence.

Edit: Also, thanks for the tip. I'll probably do it at some point :)

Adding a minute onto a status timer by zoning through a flux is COMPLETELY different to duplicating salvage drops. I'm utterly perplexed you could even compare them... Item duplication is not and never has been a game mechanic. Not even for GM's. Status timers being extended, however... Well, you decide. Yes, they patched timer locking but that was indefinite locking. This trick does not indefinitely lock your timer, it just extends it a little.

That buff costs 200k cruor/3minutes. By adding a minute onto it, you're effectively gaining 66k cruor. Nobody knows what will happen if Starcade walks in on you and spams GM all day, but you're a fool if you don't think there's a possibility of repercussions.

Did you not read his post? It's irrelevant if you think those two situations are different. It comes down to trying to circumventing their intentions, which SE has said over small things many times in both ffxi and ffxiv.

They didn't.

I posted it believing it would be beneficial to people. I'm sure it will be to some. I could not care less about recognition, my ego is nowhere near the level of yours.

And yet, upon failing to receive the showers of praise you'd expected, you've asked a moderator to remove your tip that you believe is beneficial to people(twice).

The problem isn't really you posting this tip. It was your insistence that there is nothing wrong with it. While I agree, it doesn't mean that SE won't say its a ban worthy offense if it is circumventing their intentions. They've done this before, it's unlikely but possible they will do it again.

This is clearly exploiting something that is against SE's wishes, and you could be banned if they were in a bad mood after being reported. Not sure why you're getting so bent out of shape at people mentioning there is an obvious risk.

And this somehow equals throwing a tantrum for not receiving praise?

It's evident that just the act of sharing this information has offended several people - the first reply set the tone for the remainder of this thread.

I'm a little disappointed, sure. I thought we were better than this. But upset because I didn't get praise? I don't know. You took a large leap to reach that conclusion from pretty much nothing. I had multiple people ganging up on me and I stood my ground. I have no idea how you came to the conclusion you did re: my intentions, honestly.

lol man this thread is funny. You guys are seriously that scared of the banhammer? Thanks for the tip Aeyela.

I'll use it if I get the opportunity and I'll be just as scared of getting banned as I am of using windower.

Comeatmebro usually has useful things to say. Clearly he's just trolling you in this thread.
