I have been taking a long break from ffxi recently (it seems i do this more and more) and i was planning to return sometime soon, however i seem to have fallen on my feet as an old freind contacted me on facebook telling me i can have all his old stuff as hes fully quit ffxi now

this includes

30-40 mil gil

90ish lungo jades
20 ish 100 bynes
50 ish m silver peices

and lots of random apparently expensive whitemage, and bard gear.

my problem is i dont want to be banned just to get all this stuff to my main so im wondering if anyone knows how se treat tranfers with large gil and currency exchanges now ? and if its even half likely ill be banned?

i am genuine though im sure some of you may doubt me, just trying to find out if there is any danger due to the large amounts.

And look like all the other RMT who do that and get banned. Good call.

Edit since my posts tend to get deleted when Aelius is about : I'd say to call a GM and let them know the circumstances of the trade and such so there's no question.

I've server hopped 140mil before to buy Alexandrite and wasn't bothered by SE. As long as you're using an old account, I'm not sure they mess with you. Also, they might just be lazy.

You could ask for a GM on the official forums for this, they usually answer in a decent time frame there, and you could get an official answer on how to proceed.

ok thanks my account is like 8 years old now so im allways very wary of getting bannned especially with the new task forces, they dont realise the effort put into a char they just see the numbers im sure.

i think ill probably talk to a gm first then do it via trade

Is simply transferring his account an option? SE doesn't ban people for server transferring good chars, and if he has whm/brd gear he sounds like a pretty good mule.

I misunderstood kinda. Seconding this, trading is fine.

If you do decide to call a GM though, don't say like "my friend gave me his account and I don't want to get it banned when I take stuff off of it". Say "my friend wants to give me stuff". Actually giving away your account is against the ToS, and some GMs love accidental self incrimination.

"My friend who is quitting has agreed to give me his inventory of trade able stuff, I just want to ensure that this is fine and I will not be marked by the STF"

Gotta be careful how you word it, i've had friends banned over just ONE wrong word lol.

SE has way too many power-tripping GMs if any of them are willing to ban a paying customer simply because one person wants to quit the game and give a huge gift to another.

If SE would focus as much energy on content as they do on making mindnumbingly stupid banning decisions there'd be no room for FFXIV.

Technically there would be no room for anything, because SE spends almost no effort on anti-rmt banning issues type stuff anymore. The GM/STF divisions of SE are tiny now compared to anytime when they were releasing content commonly (IE: when the game was still new)/

Then there should be no problem with transfering said items. And, out of curiosity, and is an honest question, how do you know the size of the SE divisions?

STF is down to one person. Layoffs were chosen based on names so that the texts could all remain the same.

Which is exactly what many people have said^^

And as for how large the divisions are, I don't know for a fact, but its pretty strongly supported through observation. Very few (I haven't heard of anything at all recently, but i'll assume that it is possible) people have gotten in trouble for simply server transferring stuff. Also GMs rarely police gil sources (at least any good one I know about) in an attempt to remove bots any more.

Reasonable theory. I figured it was just laziness, then again....

I do know GMs need to look more closely at a situation before jumping. Had a friend in Dynamis - Xarcabard soloing on PUP. He pulled a few too many mobs and had to get out of aggro range. He happened to come close to a party doing a run. He managed to kill all the mobs he had, I think 4 or 5, then *poof* GM jailed. He was reported for trying to MPK the party, which now adays is hard as hell to do. Also the party said the pull caused a lot of lag. The issue could have been solved by the GM simply saying "he didn't MPK you, he beat them, he's playing the game. Also, upgrade your internet connection to avoid lag. Have a nice day.", but alas, no.

So, with that, I'd still be careful, the OP had a valid concern, some times it may just be a roll of the dice on which GM happens to be on.

I've had experiences to suggest that it is not always safe to do a such trade. I'd recommend they do it on their own IP from which they've always logged in, and you collect the items while on your own IP to minimize risk.

Anything you do to attempt to cloak the transaction will look suspicious in the unlikely event that it's examined. Just treat it like it's normal.

Go to a spot in Battalia downs with nobody around, bazaar on your main character an amount that matches how much gil the other character has. If you're that paranoid, divide it by 6, and buy it repeatedly to transfer the gil.

With your new found gil, buy the dyna currency @ 100k per, and then just repeat step one again to get all your gil back.

Items can just be traded, theres nothing more to it, if you're still paranoid, again bazaar and buy.

I think the OP is being a bit paranoid.
As long as you are trading stuff between 2 highlevel characters on 2 accounts that are not newly created, i'm fairly certain there won't be an issue.

Pretty sure alot of the account flagging/follow up by the STF is automated and more interested in finding large gil transactions between newly created mules or accounts that are 1 month old or less since those are used as fences for theft/RMT transactions.

When I started buying up my relic currency, I gave my mule 60M to buy currency while I was doing LS stuff on my main. Both characters were never touched by SE. I'm going to guess like many others have said, if the account isn't a few days old, it probably doesn't flag anything to them.

still not 100% on how ill go about doing it all but most likely ill transfer his char to siren then just do a straight trade and hopefully that should do it, and the STF wont go nuts at me.
