The launch was fine. Being used to 2-4 hour updates due to FFXI, I knew the Wii download wouldn't be to bad if I waited. At first my internet wouldn’t keep connection, but the 3rd time it stuck pretty good. AT&T sucks out where I live. I started the update at around 5:30 and it was done in about an hour.
After the boot up, it's a pretty quick to register your TV, Cable or Satellite Provider (Wii GamePad is also a universal remote), and the rest of your settings.
I've only played one game, Nintendo Land, and it's kind of like Mario Party without the board. The Metriod Mini-game is probably the best thing on that disc. I'm looking forward to family and friend’s time with Mario U and some serious survival horror with Zombie U.
Online community seems very friendly. Alot of people seem to think it will end up like Xbox Live without the dark underbelly. If you are under 18 you need to have your parent pay .50 to create an online account. It's a one-time fee that is probably just to make the parent aware that their child is playing online.
Looks like it'll have alot of potential on it's own and with third party games.
The couple of bad things I've noticed so far is that some programs load instantly where others (such as settings) takes a little while to load. I have heard complaints about Mass Effect 3 being a crappy port, but that is most likely EA game's fault. Another thing is that it looks like most of the games that will use the original Wii controllers required you to have Wii Motion Plus. I own one but now I need to replace the other 3 if I want to use the full potential of the system.
One of the best things I have discovered is that some Wii games look better in 1080p. Skyward Sword & Mario Kart Wii look fantastic. *.*
I need to quick talking to much, alot of this I want to save for a review for the ol' blog. Now, where is everyone's names?! I need friends for Zombies, Animal Crossing, and Mario highscores. XD
