Of course. I think NAs also get to participate in a later alpha test, but I'm not completely sure on that.

Been tempted to give 14 a try when 2.0 rolls around.
=/ Last time I played was during the original beta... and it wasn't so great then.

Just watching this, I'm already sadly missing the fluid 1.xx version "run animations"...but oh well, a small price to pay if it looks that pretty (and the game play is more responsive) I suppose. ;_;
I hope it does really well, and that they advertise it a lot. I'm glad they retained the 'legacy' landmarks from 1.xx also...I was afraid the game world would 'look/feel' completely different, but it still will have familiarity for 1.xx players judging from their previews.

NA Alpha will be in a month most likely, they havent given an exact date but there will be one, should find out most details on the 11th when servers shut down and Yoshi does his live letter.

NA/EU enter in Alpha 3 and alpha 2 ends nov 11 which i'm guessing is yoshi-p at the end of the live letter would say check your emails in a few hours :) Alpha is running without issue or bugs so going into part 3 of alpha should happen quick.

So, is there an animation missing because it's alpha... or do their feet not move when they're rotated anymore... c.c

One of the dev said they took most of the animation off for gameplay issue it would have had with ffxiv 2.0 battle system. Not sure if they going to end up finding a way to fix it and add it to the game.

I love how vibrant it looks was odd that the original FFXIV gridania seemed a bit gloomy well in beta when I played it anyways.

The music reminds me of FF12, even @ 2:33, there's a dotted zone line and the same style text when changing zones. ^^ Cant wait!

I gave up on FFXIV within a week of getting it from release because it was so awful, and haven't bothered with it since, so I am actually looking forward to trying 2.0 when the free trial comes out. No idea if I'll enjoy it but I'll be one of the people starting from scratch as my character is so low anyway it doesn't matter.
When 2.0 gets released, and original subscribers get the download is it going to replace the updates etc from 1.0?

The moment I seen her jump for the first time over that fance. I was like OHHH ***!! inside of course. That was awesome. Cmon SE, give us more mouth watering teasers! Wish they'd just accept my beta app already though.
Hope they fix that boring solid animation movement when you make a stationary turn. Only thing I seen that looks off.

I read somewhere that once it's actually released and trial or open beta begins. There will be an actual brand new game download via the SE management website.
3rd Edit lol:
For all people who only tried the game during it's earliest beta phases in 1.0 over a year and a half ago. You really should of tried the game again within the last year or so. The fluidity of the game has improved dramatically and alot of really neat and useful features have been implemented. Can log on for free right now actually just to get a taste of what you might of missed out on(For 12 hours or so). Much more enjoyable. 2.0 should be a whole new ballgame though.

might be wrong forum but I thought this was COOL.
During this trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sqL3-n2-3J4
at time marker 4:10 the guys looks just like this Tavnazian guy http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Despachiaire from FFXI ............
Coincidence?
And during FFXI COP missions Despachiaire talks about Bahamut which I assume is the big dragon in this FFXIV trailer.

I do have a question. Not directed at anyone in particular and its more rhetorical than anything, but how the hell does anyone see that dragon in the FMV and go "Shinryu!" >.> I mean, I can see the whole "its ending the world and that's what Shinryu does wwww" talk but... Like... Yoshi even said they were adding "The Great Labyrinth of Bahamut" in ARR.
/rant off Sorry >_>

People will see what they want to see... How long have people been wanting a Bahamut summon in XI and SE said no because they want to keep him CS only to make him seem stronger? It's probably the same case as this, people will want a Bahamut summon, but that being Bahamut most likely means we won't get him.

I forgot where I read it but didn't the devs mention that the summons in 14 won't be the primals themselves (for obvious lore reasons) but avatars that draw on the primal's powers or something to that extent? So it could be possible that we get a Bahamut-like summon in the future.

I believe that, right now, the only proper "summon" the class/job will get is Carbuncle in that it is a true manifestation of the creature. Regardless, you're correct. The ffxiv website says...
Quote: In times immemorial, there lived mages who had not only the power to summon the primals, but also the means to transmute the primals' essences, thus binding them to their will. Known simply as summoners, the existence of these men and women and their arcane art have been all but lost to the ages.
So it won't be the primal itself (because Yoshi plans to use them for something else dealing with grand companies.) but yeah. Still gonna be badass.

I think it's ment to be the same as in XI, your not calling the primes themselves just an aspect of their power. Also in all 3 primal fights there were clones/lesser versions of them. Ifrit spawned clones widening the range on his jumps, Moogle had all the small versions and Garuda her sisters. So it could be those we summon rather than the main one.
As for getting a Bahamut I personally can't see it happening... thats just my opinion though.
By Zenaku14 2012-11-13 15:24:46
The primal themself you are allow to summon but you have to find them in the world. You and your party would be teleport inside and fight let's say ifrit yoshi-p said there a 1week time limit so if your free company got that primal you have to fill up a bar to allow to use him in battle. The leader of the guild can set the rules on who allow to summon the primal in battle the primal can be very useful in helping kill a very hard end boss. Once you have use that primal in battle you can't get it to your time limit is over this would allow others guilds to be allow a chance to get a primal also.
When you summon him the world would turn dark and red and it would say Free company ???? have summon ifrit into battle or something like that.
But for SMN job you get to use a small % of the primal powers to summon a mob that use that element but it wont be ifrit himself it would look something diff.

Tiamat! >:O Also, I slapped myself for not thinking of this sooner. But that dragon in the Limit Break trailer is in a dungeon under a tree. Possible Nidhogg? Of course, it could just be any ol' dragon. I just said Nidhogg because I'm more familiar with Norse mythology than other mythologies.

Right, but at least according to Rukkirii, it seems like that was a decision made early on (to simplify character animations) and not likely to change, because it affects gameplay and responsiveness at a fundamental level.
I know the official forums are horrible to navigate/read, but this thread was nice because the OP updated it with the official Dev responses (at least those passed through the community reps) which indicates these intentions...
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/53515-Realm-Reborn-downgrade
...so while there is still dev time left in the alpha/beta/live release cycles I suspect it would be more realistic to think it will be more like the current video than it would be like 1.xx.

I don't know. But it's too early for me to comment about any ff14 topic, a lot of people are aware that gameplay footage is just a PRE-alpha. not even alpha yet

nidhogg is already a part of the DRG af story, so this cant be it. and besides, nidhogg is the king of all wyrms and dragons in ff14... so it cant be him (because it is a god, like high up in the air...heavenly like entity...) and my guess it is tiamat in that trailer. bc its like for me having the colors of a real tiamat and in ff12, in a dungeon there is also tiamat (henne mines). now i know 11 has dragons aery or w/e to be nidhoggs old home... but thats a tree and not an actual dungeon where you have to work together with 8 people to solve puzzles and quests and w/e not to get to the final boss and then clear it, getting drops and be ditched outside again...

Ehhh I don't know, maybe I'm in the minority here.. But I liked the old Gridania and it's music. It felt spooky and mysterious, yet magical, just like an actual forest. You have a city in the middle of a forest, it's not going to be all sunshine and happiness. There's going to be shadows from the trees, mist and fog, that feeling you're being watched. Maybe there's an otherworldly presence watching...
Now it's a lot lighter.. It doesn't feel so mysterious anymore. Graphics-wise, it's lovely and vibrant, can't argue there.
