I'm not really sure where to put this... so it's going here.

Essentially, I'm looking to find some resources for importing FFXI models and textures into 3DS Max for animation and rigging.

My current pipeline works, and has only one major flaw: the textures never apply correctly, as seen below.

I'm currently exporting models and texture information to .MQO format using an old version of Folye's Model Viewer. I then import into Metasequoia and convert them to .OBJ formats. Once they're .OBJ, they're able to be imported into 3DS Max, though with misapplied texture information. If I were better with textures I'm sure this is an easy fix, but I'm not. So I'm trying to find a way to have them simply import with the correct texture mapping.

The final purpose is an Unreal Engine project I'm working on, known as Soldier. See my current progress in the video below.

Crawlerbasher should be popping through here soon I'm assuming. He's a master of doing this :) One question I have though, how are you converting the .MQO into .OBJ? Did you buy Meta? I used to be able to do this with Blender but one of the newer versions broke my script I had and I haven't been able to fix it since. Even if they're just .OBJ I can make it work! Looking forward to your project though! Looks good!

yeah, the ability to convert files with Metasequoia comes only with the paid version.

There actually is a .MQO importer for 32-Bit 3DS Max installs, but I haven't had great results. I dunno if maybe it's cause I'm on 64-bit and running 3DS Max in compatibility mode to use that plugin... I find it easier just to convert them with Meta.

There is a plugin that can import MQO files directly into 3dsmax with textures~ although i have no idea where you can find this plugin now...
