So how do you know what to put into your body? Funny you say that though because the human brain and body has cannabinoid receptors designated to reacting to the chemical in cannabis itself.
They are designed to react with endocannabinoids. Cannbinoid receptors are simply called cannibinoid receptors because they were first discovered with THC. However, ultimately scientists discovered anandamide and other endogenous organic compounds that react with cannibinoid receptors.
CB1 found inside your brain and CB2 located all over your body. So as far as I'm concerned, we WERE indeed supposed to put this into our body.
CB1 reacts with anandamide and 2-AG. CB2 reacts with anandamide,2-AG, NADA and a few other chemicals all of which are naturally occurring in the body. Also Tylenol reacts with the CB1 and CB2 receptors.
Cortessis and her colleagues used data from 163 young men who had been diagnosed with testicular cancer and nearly 300 men in a comparison group without the disease. Both groups had been interviewed about their health and drug use between 1987 and 1994.
Among the men with cancer, 81 percent had used marijuana at some point, whereas that was the case for 70 percent of the comparison group.
Anyone who thinks that's anywhere near acceptable for the outlandish claims given is full of ***. To put it in terms plebes can understand, it's like the guy rocking 85 almace outparsing a ragnarok once and claiming it makes blu better than war.

Apologies to the ladies ... this thread doesn't concern you (unless you have an adolescent son or brother who smokes pot).
There's mounting evidence that recreational marijuana use doubles a man's lifetime risk for Testicular Cancer. It's not the most deadly of cancers, as long as it's detected early. However, one common treatment for "curing" the cancer is to have the tumorous testicle removed surgically.
Is one of your "boys" worth the "high"? It's up to you.
Just wanted to help dispel the myth that marijuana is somehow a "harmless" drug. Lots of pot smokers have deluded themselves into believing their nasty habit won't cause any ill health effects. And while there's no doubt that marijuana is less hazardous than cocaine, heroin, or (arguably) even drinking alcohol ... that does NOT mean that marijuana is harmless. It isn't.
Sorry to burst your bubble, if you were riding that bubble.

Your entire cell structure reacts with cyanide, that doesn't mean it's a brilliant idea to introduce it into your system.
What failed logic you utilize.
I don't use mj and don't care whether people do or not, I just hate that people who smoke think they are freaking enlightened because they smoke.

Woooooaaaaah, maaaaan! How else am I suppose to get my Coltrane on?
Weird that this came up. I was thinking about this scene yesterday...

Right on and I just want to go into further reasons why this study is *** now that I've actually read it, lol.
Quote:
The research isn't ironclad proof that the marijuana is to blame, and even if it is, the danger isn't overwhelming. According to the American Cancer Society, a man's lifetime risk of getting testicular cancer is about one in 270 - and because effective treatment is available, the risk of dying from the disease is just one in 5,000.
So the chance is 1 in 270 for every guy. Which is a 0.37%. So if the chance is doubled, that's 0.74%.
I know most of you have extensive experience with drop rates. Whats the difference between 0.37% and 0.74%? Not a whole hell of a lot.

163 people is not a big enough sample size for this kind of study. The fact that only 11% more people in the cancer group had smoked weed is just evidence that they didn't study enough people. That is a small difference and can easily be explained by the small sample size.
They could have easily come up with the conclusion that NOT smoking weed causes nut cancer if the study group had come up with less people who smoked weed.
This study is pure ***.
Oh and this ticked me off too.
Quote:
For instance, it didn't find an increased risk among men with higher marijuana use, and it was relatively small.
So what they are saying is that if you've smoked weed only once, or inhaled second hand smoke your nuts are going to get cancer. You would have the same exact chance as someone who has been smoking every day since since they were 15. Yes, because when something causes cancer, more of it is never worse!
I hope everyone can see how much of a horrible study this is now.
Expect to see "These are your nuts on drugs" commercials thanks to this bogus study.
Jesi, while some of your points are valid (for once), you might be missing the bigger picture here. This study highlighted in this thread is only one of three recent studies that raise an eyebrow about the connection between male pot smokers and testicular cancer risk.
By no means is this study a "landmark" definitive study. I apologize for any mild hyperbole in my OP (it did get your attention though, didn't it!?).
However, the larger point remains valid, even without the results of this recent study ... marijuana is a drug. Drugs do things to the human body's physiology. Often, those things are bad. Often, those bad things are amplified in an adolescent's body, due to the amount of growth and neurotransmitter activity during that phase of life. Marijuana use isn't harmless. Period.
Yes ... and George Burns lived to be 100 years old, smoking like a chimney most of his adult life. That doesn't mean cigarette smoking doesn't cause lung cancer and emphysema ....
Of course, I don't expect much logic or critical thinking from you, Angeleus. Keep on smokin', man!
Water is detrimental when there is too much of it.
Point being, everything in this world effects us. Some things have positive and negative effects, some things only negative effects. No substance on earth produces a purely positive effect.
Summation: Be mindful of what you subject your body and mind to. Always use moderation.
Isn't there like 1,000 + ways to die? So, what the point of topics like these, I have read and heard accidents that healthy people have die from. Anyway, When death wants to claim your ***, he will claim you..
This is where I develop a problem with people's view on marijuana...
I hate when people try and demonize it. In this day and age you'd expect the majority of people to at least be half-assedly educated in the REAL effects of marijuana, good and bad. But no, (lots of) people are still rattling off the same (***) propaganda started in the 30's and 40's as if it were fact.
First, people need to learn the difference between smoke and marijuana. Vaporizing and eating it doesn't have the same dangers/risk/damage inherent in smoking anything. No I'm not saying it's harmless, but then neither is the air you breathe or the water you drink. Every little thing you do every single day in your life is 'harmful' to the longevity of your life.. Just simply breathing is carrying on the process of your inevitable death.
Second, people need to learn harmful =/= dangerous. Just because something isn't harmless, doesn't mean you need to freak out or act like it's dangerous. No need to carry on this stigma about it any longer. It's simply no where near as dangerous as most anti-drug people would have you believe.
If you don't wanna smoke, that's your own choice, I won't pressure anyone into it... Hell, more for me. However, I expect that same freedom of choice in return. That doesn't mean sit there and lecture me about 'how bad drugs are' or about this or that *** article you read that told you how dangerous it is. It means accept my choice and move on. I didn't nag you, don't nag me.
you will be able to identify the reefer addict by his dark sunglasses, hiding the shame in his eyes. his pants will be encrusted with semen, from constantly jacking-off when he can't find a rape victim. his pain is only over-ridden by his nervous ticks & manical laughter. if you see one of these dope riddled fools, call the police immediately, lest your wife & kids fall victim to THE DOPE MENACE!!!!!
