I like to play FFXI drunk, especially on weekends.
Like when i go out for a drink friday after work with some friends and come home around 11 pm GMT, the night is still young and most NA ppl just came online. And ya, most of the ppl I consider as friends in FFXI are NA.
I dont type bs like "OMG IM SO DRUNK!!" but I'm extremely messing around and usually type song lyrics into the ls so everyone's like "Lotus... you drunk again?" "Noooo" "yes you are!" "Maybe :X".
Also i don't mess up parties or events when I'm drunk. Ppl who don't know me wouldnt probably even notice and just think I'm crazy.

So ya, to the person who opened the thread: Yes, i do have a happy life with a fiance, friends, a fulltime job and evening school, NO, i don't have any problems and YES, playing FFXI drunk is fun. Oh... and I'm no stupid kid, I'm a 25 years old lady. <3

I like to tank drunk. I also like to come home from a night bar hopping and kick it with my LS til I'm ready to pass out because they're not uptight wieners. If being in the presence of drinkers is insulting, perhaps a career in preaching is something worth looking in to.

I don't care about someone drinking, one way or the other, and playing..

Annoying people are in the game, sober, why should it matter that there are annoying people who are drunk..

Obviously, I don't like when someone does something stupid and then justifies it by saying "*** it, I'm drunk!" Again, though, it isn't like there aren't people enough to do stupid ***when they're of a 'clear' mind..

For myself, I'll have a drink or two, but I don't drink to get drunk. Most of you aren't half as fun as you think you are when you're wasted.. besides, I'd rather be the guy that drinks a couple, wakes up on time without a hangover the next day, and then proceeds to constantly remind you of all the stupid ***you did last night, thinking it was hilarious...

Not to mention, alcohol is expensive >.> There are far cheaper ways for me to shake loose a few brain cells for the night, if I wanted..

Why do people feel the need to create, such useless threads you say? Threads asking why do people play drunk....? or could be joking about being drunk?

the OP is an idiot, it all depends on the person in question. If you're a fun drunk, then chances are you'd be out with friends getting ***faced.

If you're an angry drunk, then you'd know going out is a bad idea, so you'd stay home. And for those of us who have a drink once a night to flush out the bladder? Nothing, nothing at all.

In this age of binge drinking, teenage pregnancys and happy slapping, some people think they are big if they get drunk then go around telling everyone.

Well, I know that years ago, I had an LS leader that played drunk all the time. He was a much better NIN tank drunk then he was sober.

As for why people do it, they just do because they want attention... I know I've gotten drunk a time or two while playing. The members of the LS i was in could tell by my speech on Vent, but besides that couldn't tell at all.

I get home some days from clubbing drunk as hell and I would log on to stay up a bit longer and eat some food so I don't get a bad hang over the next day, or if I lay down the room would start spinning, so I would play run around check AH, see who's online. usualy a Drunk person makes an LS chat alive and its funny as hell. Even Vent omg some drunk conversations are priceless gotta love em. It's better to know they're drunk and playing a game, than drunk and driving around.

It's also priceless seeing how people change when they drink its like if you have seen Surrogate. a non drunk person is bruce willis who looks like himself, and his robot looks sorta of like him but a younger version, where a drunk person is the hot chick in the club in the beginning then finding out it was some big fat guy that was controlling her this whole time. It's like WHOA!!! haha....

I usually can't stand playing this game sober, so I'm almost always high. But man after a few rips I'm usually thinking this is the coolest ***ever lol. Back when I started playing in 2004 though, I would do stupid emotes like /em takes a bong hit, /em 's lungs take 420 points of damage, silly ***like that. Slowly but surely I realized that no one really cares, so I just keep to myself and make the occasional reference in ls chat or something.

i don't have a social life at night. during the day different story lol out of the 2 times i've gotten on drunk. the one time i announced i was for some reason, got bored lfp so i think i just ran around wg. the other time, i kind of forgot how to use a keyboard and was laughing at everything.

Mainly it's because people believe that by being intoxicated everyone around them suddenly enjoys their company. And gives a ***about their status.

I generally find it annoying because it's good to know you take the success of the team seriously enough to get yourself stupid-drunk during an important mission run (I don't care so much in EXP parties but it's still annoying when it negatively affects them)

And if you bring up that "I do so much better when I'm drunk" excuse, then you, my friend, have dependency issues.

Go out, get drunk, have a good time, don't be a hindrance to anyone else, and drive safe. That's all I ask of you.

Again, there ARE ppl who play the same or better when they're drunk.

It was my 25th Birthday last night.

And I spent it in Sky with some good friends and spent most of the night getting drunk and telling them about it, some of them were even getting drunk 'with' me.

It was a fun night and they were laughing as I ran around magic aggroing Aura pots and watching me eat Flare and Blizzard IV...

Drinking while online is fun.

OK.. Plain and simple folks.. It is your choice to play FFXI drunk, stoned, high, having sex whatever... but don't expect people around you to be happy about your failure. If your gonna play FFXI under the influence and be an ***.. go solo. Don't bring it to a party or LS events where its just going to cause havoc. It is just guaranteeing you will be kicked. You may find it amusing, but its not. It's U being stupid. I have had my share of encounters with players either saying " I'm so drunk right now" Or "Man I am high as hell"... I'm sorry but....instant Blist!!! Dumbasses!

Drunk and high ppl can be alot of fun. allthough i cant say i have met one while partying. Events have turned out some pretty hillarious situations lol.

As i said, I personally did a lot of Dynas when i was drunk or Limbus or w/e and also exp parties. And i never *** up ppl or runs, yelled the LOLROFLOLIMSODRUNK crap but was funny and rather entertained everyone.

Many ppl i know party & drink and log to ffxi too when they come home (because as I said, different time zones ;P) so why not have a bit drunken fun on FFXI. And AGAIN:

girls under 21 do that all the time, it's annoying as ***. Most of my Dyna runs would be boring as ***, since I'm melee and all I do is beat things with my ***, so i would be sauced all the way through.

Now, if I was actually drunk, I wouldn't be playing FFXI, I'd be passed out on my bed, thinking about when I would offer my soul to the Porcelain God.

I will say this though, the same lil kids who play drunk and act stupid are probably the same kids who get their faces smashed in when they're out drinking.
