I thought that was a great question, too, but I really cringed when I read, "threaten... to drown out the voices of ordinary citizens." Remember kids, your vote counts!
I don't want to say that the job is too big for one person, but there's nothing in common between the President's and a regular person's life, and I do think that we could be happier and better off if some things were bumped to the state level, or to county, or city, or left up to people to decide on their own.
The money, though, is ridiculous. But so many people are so intensely interested in politics and how the government operates that I am pretty sure that no matter what, the grey areas and loop holes in any attempt to restrict that kind of thing will be found in no time.
