Thank you for the double check on me! Knew there were bound to be some errors doing something alone, and you are correct on both catches. Both are fixed. 見せて下さい and 触らないで respectively.

The issue with Shiva is you would think that it is シバー just from how you would normally pronounce the syllables, but when dealing with a text based game your given the option to use ヴ which makes the V sound. Hope that helps clarify it up. Also the 4 you said I've already had in my guide but thanks for the input! Any is always appreciated.

It does sound more natural saying it that way thanks! I've changed it to say just that.

No it doesn't help because I already know about the V sound (as you can see by my second suggestion, シヴァー). What I don't understand is why they needed the small ya instead of a small a, since I was taught the vowels could be added for sounds in katakana. Wouldn't ヴャ make a 'vya' sound?

I wouldn't say that hajimemashite is a nice to meet you since you only say hajimemashite to people you've never met before, its a first-time-meeting greeting so you wouldn't say hajimemashite to a person/group you've already said it once to.

Already mentioned earlier, its not "ヴャ"　its "ヴァ", was just a mistake on whoever posted its behalf.

Ah, okay I see where your getting it.. That's kind of shady territory, but personally I've only seen JP use ヴァ never with a ヴャ. Seeing how the game gives the ャ I honestly couldn't tell you. I'm not sure about it making a 'vya' sound though to be honest, because normally for example when saying ジャ it gives a sound 'ja' not 'jya'.

The pronunciation is identical to a capitol city in the US: Juneau, Alaska. Both are written in katakana the same. Romanizing the Japanese in a common way also gives you JU-NO. The E being silent doesn't help keep the spelling straight.

Going to bump this real quick to mention that the guide has received quite a few updates since the last post thanks to some notes from BG and FFXIAH, and it might get more depending on the SoA expansion.

Anything that someone would like added (within reason) or comments/suggestions just let me know.

Yea, Rex tends to be called many things from its name to the type of mob he is ranging from Katakana and Hiragana. So in my list I did the most generic and most used name for him. Although, I did use his full name just in case it does appear.

It would be cool to have a chart with all the VW NMs in jp with the corresponding name in english. Or maybe it already has been done, but didn't find anything.

Am I right in saying they call Qilin きりん (Kirin) in which case what do they call Kirin, they can't avoid it with their phonetic system can they, do they just change the name?

And what was Kirin named after, a mythological beast or a can of beer?

Although it sounds similar in phonetic English, in Japanese, Qilin is phonetically pronounced chee rin, and Kirin is kee rin

They have most of the important ones in the guide under the "Areas and Common NMs" section.


Qilin is ちーりん (Chiirin), Kirin is きりん.


The beer was named after the mythological creature. Take a look at the can:

Kirin and Qilin are the same creature, it's just its name in two different languages.

I don't know what's dumber, to assume an NM is named after a can of beer or to assume somebody could think that at all and offer up an explanation with pictures explaining what Kirin is. Clearly I was aware it was a mythological creature so you could have assumed I knew already and it was a joke? But nevermind, thanks for the pretty pictures =)

I'm guessing you're new here, because somebody being ignorant about cultural stuff is a farcry from a lot the retardation that can get posted here on a regular basis.

Since the new expansion I had some requests to add a few of the new events into the guide. If I missed any that ya'll would like to be added let me know. Also added more phrases upon request, though I feel some would be better placed in different categories than others. I'll get to that probably within the next few days. Or if you feel that something should belong somewhere else just mention it below.

Also, to make it easier to read I've put the list into alphabetical order. One request I have to say I'll pass on though that I keep getting is the addition of different ways that certain VW NM's are called. For example I have for Botulus Rex – ボチュルス・レックス. This NM gets brought up more than others. I've given the full name but this name can be written the exact same way but in Hiragana (ぼちゅるすれっくす). It can also be called king of slimes, pudding king, pudding. To go about every NM and write out each of their names plus each of those in the different Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji would be pointless. That's why I added the zone name of each of those NM's since most of the time the zone name is associated with it when reading a shout.

Just wondering if anyone is updating this info in relation to Delve and new content. This information was very useful and a much referred to guide. Thanks.

Late.. I know.. but I don't play anymore to even check FFXIAH replys. I went ahead and updated it to the last bit of content that I played.

More sentences from requests, Delve areas and NMs with WKR areas/NMs. Some skirmish also but didn't get in detail with that since that was mainly when I stopped playing, but the areas are listed so you'll know which run is being shouted for. Also, I'll do one last update in a spoiler for a full romaji under each section but that will most likely be the last update I do since I will not be able to add more stuff in that I don't even know. So future expansions/updates I'll just have to leave it to someone else who wants to add in more as content is pushed out.

Maybe I won't be adding a full list of romaji now. Just started to mess with it and apparently the spoiler tags on Guildwork completely suck. Only had a few requests to do that anyways..

Great work so far but I think what a user meant when they added okaeri = welcome back is because of the small typo! I'm not sure if it's a major issues but to avoid confusion I'm adding this here. You said you shan't be doing more but does anyone know of a recently updated guide or has the knowledge to continue one themselves? The most I'm working with is the JP search function here on the site to find out certain words in japanese.
