(Although I should warn you that my friends list is lying to people and telling them I'm on this site when I'm not. I think this is because I'm super-secret-ninja-like stalking that Jishnu's Radiance build thread and I have it bookmarked at the moment so I can stalk it whenever I please. So if I don't reply soon, I might not be on the site actually.)
If the "bible" isn't the inspired Word of God then it would be easy to go that route. But there is a God and if he can make an entire universe i'm sure He can govern a book. lol please. There's an array of debates i can get into with good evidence and brain food for you to think over, but at the end of the day. 99% of not 100% of you who hate the "Person" of Jesus to begin with, will not have a change of heart. So i will not waste my time any further. Let the Jesus bashing begin. Im out.

I am always open to discussion on any topic. Just take your bible you read everyday and compare it to your grandma's bible if its from when she was young.
There are differences and people spend time finding them. I watched a video of someone comparing bibles and pointing out differences. I will try to find the link.

I'm not worried about a fast response, it will more than likely be a day before I can even get around to telling you what I want to cover in regards to those vids you posted. I'll be ringing at your inbox soon enough ; )
I've said it once and I'll say it again, religion starts to break down when you try and apply logic. I don't really think religion was ever 'designed' with logic in mind.
Isn't there also speculation over Akhenaten and Nefertiti's adaptation of their own monotheistic religion that might have sunk into the origins of Christianity, or am I thinking of another pharaoh?
EDIT: Actually, there are all kinds of crazy things about Akhenaten. The alien thing being the most bizarre.

Sigmund Freud's Moses and Monotheism.
Funny, because my religion professor just brought it up last week.

I need a refresher. I haven't really thought about it since my Ancient World History course, but this thread...
Yeah...This is pretty familiar. Akhenaten and his followers established their own kingdom and what not either before or after the Hittite (sp?) invasion...Androgynous art from that era...Something...Something...Tutankhamun.
Errrmmm...Cleopatra wouldn't be a blood descendant of Akhenaten, right? Different dynasties? I don't even remember.
I can't imagine why, given how atheists getting kicked out of houses, run out of town, and discriminated against in real life (in the USA, at least) isn't exactly unheard of. Being anonymous is the only real safe place for anyone.

Granted I don't spend a lot of time in the deep south, but there has never been a place where I felt if I if I felt the silly desire to proclaim to the world that I was atheist, I would be immediately assaulted for saying those words.

I frequent a dive bar here in middle o nowhere SD. you could stand up & say that, you may turn a head, but that's about it.

It's not just the 'deep south' it happens all over. Happens in other countries as well.
I don't really feel like tracking down all the stories, but he's right, it's far from unheard of.
Actually there are two I can remember off the top of my head that have been posted and discussed here.. One was from India I think, guy had a facebook page that said he was atheist and the law wanted to (or did) persecute him for heresy, and he wasn't safe in jail or anywhere because of radicals making threats to his life. Another was some stupid *** over a prayer in school, the kid fought for their right to not have to hear that stuff, and instantly the entire town turned on them, including their own parents.

My point wasn't to claim that religion didn't produce intolerant people. There are plenty of places where it would absolutely be dangerous to say that. There are plenty of people who suffer abuse through religious fanaticism. No devotion to any god makes that right.
