Recovering A Suspended Account?

So, let's say hypothetically, a couple of months ago (~January) I decided to quit the game, but not really totally, and gave my account to a friend. And let's say hypothetically, that this friend went ahead and got his account (and mine) perma-banned for doing some mass multi-box farming, or whatever someone with tons of accounts and the means to cleave for hours on end do. Annnd let's say hypothetically I decided that with the new expansion coming out next year, even though by all accounts my old account is probably perma-banned I decided that the terminology ('suspended') implies I'm not totally boned and maybe there's some hope to get some pre-expansion character maintenance done. Uh. Do I have a snowball's chance in hell of getting my old character recovered or should I just start over from scratch (again)?

There's always the chance it will happen, but it's just so incredibly unlikely. Maybe you could convince them someone hacked your account after you had quit and you're just now trying to come back and had no idea. That's the only thing I can think of where you won't be met instantly by a resounding "No."

If you only quit a couple months ago, then you should know how easy it is to level up, you might as well just start over, both of your options are going to be about equal headaches, might as well get a headache from the sure thing.

Knowing SE's customer support, I'd just start over again.

You can report it as hacked and maybe if you'r very very lucky have it unbanned and rollbacked to when you quit.
Other than that, I highly doubt there's any chance to get it back.

scratch, the reason he got banned sounds like ***, and pretty much unless you want to claim you were hacked that story won't hold well considering the time frame.

start over, it wouldn't take long, probably less time than having them restore it even if you could get them to.

I'm aware of SE's atrocious customer support. I guess what I'm trying to gauge is whether my chances are absolute zero, or if there is just enough of a sliver of a chance that I'd have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

You don't have anything to lose by giving it a shot.

You do have something to lose though, even if you do manage to do it, it's not like it'll just be in one day.. As Jet pointed out, by the time you get the account restored, you could already be back on your feet and ready for the new content. And if you're just going to go and start over, (this is just me) I wouldn't really see the point in trying to get the old one restored. I hate wasting time though.

Yes, you have a chance, a slim one at best. Everyone seems to agree your only chance is to claim your account was hacked. Be warned, there are people on this forum who have had their account suspended for a month or more over stupid petty ***, that entire month was spent just calling up SE and going through the channels, and they didn't just give up when they were told no the first time. You have to fight for it.

In all honesty if I were you, I'd just start over.

I say do whatever you want to do. You already got your answer, so anymore posts are pointless.

I'd say start a new character and get some stuff done while you try to get the other one back. Chances are the first job you would want to level would be white mage since the maat fight will be cake. If you do get the original character back then you got yourself a healing mule, and if not then at least you made some progress.

I say just start over. Dealing with customer service is just awful. From my experience, a suspended account can still mean perma-banned.

My account was suspended, and I never got it back. Funny story, when I asked the customer service guy what the difference between a suspended account and a terminated one was, since it was permanent in both cases, I was told they weren't allowed to divulge that information.

I've never had a permaban message. Every time I've been banned, it was a temporary suspension message.

I would start over, if you get your account back, then I guess you have someone to dualbox!

The nosy person inside me wants to know what he really did to get banned. Badly lol

Normally i would be yelling at people that just tell others to begin again with out trying to get it back but if u gave it to your friend then it may be very hard for se to tell the accounts rightfully owner granted i bet somewhere in there servers they still have your ip and the ip u had at the time u made the account so there may be a chance just report it to them and see what they say.

your joking me right every company i have talked to or any support team they will happily tell u. something like this i think u just got a guy that really did not know and maybe he was covering him self.

btw to what someone said about keep calling and fighting back yes that is what u need to do 9/10 times u get someone who knows what they are doing and will help u and then there is that 1 guy that will go out of his way to do the best job he can to help u. i have gotten lucky i normally get the 1% guy and it works out for me when ever i call a support team.

Sounds like he hypothetically sold his account to some rmt who used his acct for cleave parties.
