[Dev] Seekers Of Adoulin Not Supporting NA PS2

You are aware that your Playonline ID binds your original game and expansion keys to the specific ID, right? Plus getting the game is either free by downloading, or just go somewhere and buy it for $2 because stores that still carry it don't even care anymore.

I think we need actual confirmation of them saying they recoded the game. If that was actually said, that would be pretty big news.

Are you aware what my last post was? I just agreed with you guys that PS2 is the devil. I wanna see all these new changes next year since the PS2 is being pushed out. I wanna see the light hit the water and shine right off it and blind my player. All im asking since any PC can run this I wanna see Battlefield 3 type graphics.

Why do you guys keep bringing up money? I'm sure everyone has a pc, Did you happen to think maybe theres just some people who DON'T want to play on pc? Stop tring to convert everyone to YOUR choice we have enough of u gimps running around that cant play your jobs already go fishbot or something.

Yeah, because myself and a couple of people I know of from years ago even thought SE wouldn't even want to spend the extra effort to recode the game.

SE even backed out of a DirectX 9 update around when WotG was announced. (FFXI is still using features from DirectX 8 if I recall. That code is that old.)

The PC version's graphics aren't affected at all by PS2.

Recoding a game like XI is a massive amount of work. Its not just the base coding, its the fact you have 10+ years of updates, add-ons, expansions, etc on top of that coding.

It was said, but you guys are misunderstanding what was said. They said they were recoding somethings not the entire game. They said they were getting rid of all the spaghetti code.

I can't tell all these UI updates and stuff people want is being blocked by PS2 being with the game is what has been said on this forum. People wanna force the style of gaming they use on others. I wonder how us PC users would act if they switched it around and took the PC out.

I know plenty of people that still play on PS2, and will not ever migrate to the PC despite having one that can play it ... mainly due to the fact that they've adapted and know how to use the PS2 and it's controller to work the game and play it their style (yeah there's a way to play without the aid of third party gear switching and other fancy stuff!)

Them not supporting NA won't do a damn thing graphically for the game since they are supporting it in Japan (so please, shut up about how you want better graphics... it won't happen... ever) I'm hoping they do something to supplement the people that play on PS2 or they'll end up having to chew through some more losses (I guess they love losing money?)

No we wouldn't. The limitations exist without PS2.

BTW if PC's are so easy to get and make why didnt they just force the Japs to get a PC or lose the account?

The demand is there for the Japanese players, and unlike North America, Japan has the means of distributing the software.

My thinking it's not the entire game but small lines of code that limited the number of zones or abilities or skills that can be added.

For example, someone a few years ago mentioned that there was a hard cap of 255 zones. Changing that would only have probably required just a few lines in the core file(s) that handled it to expand the zones.

The same for abilities and skills, I'm sure those were changed just to allow more added to the game.

That's definitely not meaning they did a complete re-code and overhaul of the game's code.

A complete re-code would have been something like updating the graphics engine to allow higher poly models and higher resolution textures, and no 30 FPS cap. (The higher resolution textures I'm sure can be handled by the current engine anyway. The DAT modder who found that out mentioned that all that was needed was modifying a section of the DAT file for the hi-res texture to be merged into the DAT file.)

So get rid of the PS2 in NA and still have the limitations?

we already get better graphics. you ever try playing the game in 1920x1200 with 2048x2048 background resolution? it looks amazing.

They didn't get rid of NA PS2. You should learn to read.

You should learn to read. If they arent making the expansion for PS2 and people want it gone then what does that mean? I didnt just pull this out of thin air. Hell you even said sucks for the PS2 players like they are getting rid of the PS2 in NA.

The limitations are the code itself and the engine the game is still made with.



As for the US PS2, the capability to make new discs has ended, Sony shut the presses down.

Your background resolution should be higher than that if you want to oversample.

not making the expansion for the console =/= dropping it

You can also play in 720p on the the X-Box 360. So yeah, you can get much better visuals than a PS2 on any other option.

Can also adjust options on your vid card software, like AA, etc.

Which would mean what? Are you gonna sit here on a system not being supported for content anymore and watch your friends play new content and go into areas you can't get into because you cant get the expansion.
