I'm actually kind of worried about this sentence by itself. If SE has another idea for western gamers, I don't see why the Mog Bonanza has to end for Japan.
I'm worried they're thinking about pulling the plug, but I'm sure that won't happen just yet, right?
God no, stop already.

This entire JP only Mog Bonanza is leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Something seems fishy and I question all their motives but since they only announced an exceptionally vague statement around the matter its hard to draw any firm conclusions...or really any at all.
Even if the entire thing is legit, separating your player base by nationality is just bad form.

I dunno if any of you read GI but its funny to me how GI has been on this Screw-Japanese-games kick recently . I sometimes wonder if there is a scorn FFXI-er somewhere in their ranks . The JPN have a habit of killing things in their prime , they also have a habit of riding tings way beyond their death as well . Here we are @ Year 10 and ppl are still saying FFXI is on it's death bed as well as Square hates everyone who isnt from the Land of the Rising Sun . They are killing the lottery . Some ppl are sad , some are happy . Alot of Square's moves these past 2 or so years have been very confusing . I think most people would agree that since the change to the "Sqaure-Enix Account Management System" it has become increasingly difficult , time consuming , and frustrating to give them money to play their game . I know a few peeps who have quit because it wasnt worth having to reactivate every month or cant buy Crysta or w/e . The new content isnt ToAU . WoTG wasnt so bad but also a bit of a let down (for me anyway) . When the news of the Lv cap came i was excited and disappointed at the sametime . I mean how long did they say the Cap wasnt goin past 75 ? They lie . They give half truths . They make lame excuses . This is their business practice and has been for as long as XI has been . you either put up with it or you close your account and stop givin them your money . Pretty simple

bonanza's have always been stupid anyways.....SE been babying people non stop..first it was people complaining about lvling, then rmts, then blah blah blah....bonanza was just another way for people to get something without earning it. while people that play the game and generally work hard for their items get behemoth hides and or the people that alraedy have tons of crap just get more.....good riddance to bonanza.

But they aren't changing the core concept of Mog Bonanza. They're just renaming it and changing the way it works but they're making the final one JP only.
People are still going to be getting something for nothing. There are so many somethings in the game that you have to bust your *** for, I welcome the chance to win something for nothing :D

I guess the rank 1 items are now VW drops? Thats my biggest gripe about it.lol Eventually(soon) this competition will end entirely, and it'll just give SE more time to develop more endgame content. This doesn't mean it's the end of FFXI whatsoever.
I mean, they JUST implemented Legion, Neo-Einherjar, and Neo-Limbus... we'll have plenty of time to catch up on those before something else is released.

Aww I'll miss the bonanza. It was always fun and light-hearted for me, and I was always so happy when someone I know won something very cool.

Can they really shut down FFXI? could they be a FF12 without a FFXI up and running? the reason they rebuilding ffxiv is because they need to keep the number alive.
I see FFXI at least becoming a F2P mmo

I don't really know how to feel about this.
On one hand, I did enjoy playing the bonanza with the small hope that I might get more than just a statue or exp scroll. On the other, that is 10 spaces per character that get taken up. Not so bad on my mule because she has lots of room, but I am rapidly running out of space on my main.
I always thought they should just do some kind of weekly/monthly lottery on each server, like the real lottery. Buy like a maximum of 6 tickets or something and stand to win either a big jackpot or some smaller sums of gil.

I'll reiterate,
Sounds like the one in Japan is for Vanafest attendees only~
Now I could be misinterpreting, but I have a pretty good track record on interpreting Dev-ese.

Well honestly, if they can't do it for one they shouldn't do it for either. It is borderline segregation. I will be really upset too if the event they hold for NA/EU players is also available for the JP community. I get these weird ideas in my head, but I've always thought that more JP players won higher ranked stuff in the bonanza than the NA/EU counterparts. This just supports my theory...

| Greetings!
As many of you seem to be curious about the status of the Nomad Mog Bonanza, I’d like to take a moment to explain the current situation.
The North America and European Community Teams have been working diligently preparing for the Nomad Mog Bonanza, but unfortunately due to changing times and differing global laws, we will not be able to hold a Mog Bonanza for NA and EU regions moving forward.
While Japan will hold the Nomad Mog Bonanza at VanaFest 2012, it will mark the final Mog Bonanza of Vana’diel. Furthermore, to make sure that our players in North America and Europe aren't left out, we will be holding a separate event where players will be able to win similar prizes (all the goodies from tier 1, tier 2, and tier3…plus a bunch of other rare in-game items), so rest assured we will be giving you a good opportunity to make all your Vana’diel dreams come true!
Also, even though the Mog Bonanza will be gone, we will be offering a different event for our end of the year celebration for a chance to win the items of your dreams!
We will be announcing the NA/EU event very shortly, so hang tight and look forward to it! | |
