yeah i got it to "unstuck", but i think there's something definitely wrong with the left stick itself. it's making a funny noise if i rotate it all the way, and it feels different then the right stick >.>;
booted up the game again, now that it's unstuck i don't run automatically, but when i do run, i just run randomly (different directions) lol. this game doesn't want me to play it :(

Found this about PS3 controller, MotionInJoy, and Dark Souls.
Quote: I got it to work somehow (by switching MotioninJoy from 360 to PS3 controller, oddly enough!), but now a new problem has arisen: My character won't stop running forward by himself.
Quote: I had this same problem running in circles for me. I was able to get it to work by alt+tab to MotioninJoy and switch back to ps3 then switching back to the game

IT WORKS! ZOMG
ok so, i feel kinda silly but this is what happened.
you see, even though i just found my olde ps2 controller and plugged it in recently, this whole time the usb adapter for it was still plugged in the back of my pc.
apparently motion in joy wasn't playing well with my other ps2 gamepad drivers and yeah.
tldr; i unplugged the olde controller completely this time and now motion in joy works lol.

So much scenery porn in the game...
Um.. biggest tip?
Josi said it a few pages back... Watch your enemies and learn their movesets. Reacting is better than acting until you know just what they are going to do upon first aggro.
Also.. try to keep your load light.. the fat roll will get you killed.

After a few games of LoL, I'll be playing some Dark Souls if anyone needs any assistance or wants to duel. PC mainly... Don't feel like getting on 360 or PS3.

Random nub questions part I
- Which stat is the most important? or does it depend on your build?
- Should i grind the first black knight until i get a sword drop?
- Should i grind for exp early or am i just wasting time?
edit- feel like a scrub went back to campfire and blackknight didn't respawn :(

edit- feel like a scrub went back to campfire and blackknight didn't respawn :( I think VIT40 personally was the most vital stat at the beginning, but if you can get endurance capped first you wont need that much HP until you feel you need the full

- Greatly depends on the type of build you want to make and what kind of weapons and spells you want to revolve around your character. The important thing to realize is that all weapon stats have diminishing returns. Dexterity is around 45. INT and FAITH based spells around 50.
I would first recommend that you just play through the entire game without the worry of fine tuning your character. Afterwards, you should check out a popular Dark Souls calculator at :
http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/ for your character planning
http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/weapons for your weapon stat testing
http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/armor for your armor planning.
Here you can fine tune your character, determine when any given weapon has a severe diminishing return from it's corresponding stat or stats. You can also set up your armor and accessory build to determine poise, physical and elemental defenses, and roll level. It will save you any headaches later when you find out that you aren't quite sorted out the way you wanted to be. Most common PVP levels are 100-125.
Most beginner PVP players build a DEX type weapon. Common ones are Balder Side Swords and Uchigatana. They are relatively fast swinging and not as easy to parry given the laggy nature of PVP. And they aren't nearly as easy to predict for a riposte nor are they nearly as punishable for a backstab on a missed swing like most STR weapons.
That's not to say that STR based weapons are bad, just require more skill. And they are pretty good at baiting people into a parry attempt on the "fake out" second swing which you can punish with a lock in back stab. Plus many 2 handed Ultra Great Swords have infinite stagger locks with 2 hands and an enchantment.
I would also advise getting enough endurance in any given build to at least be able to mid roll. Heavy or fatty rolls are a death sentence in PVP.
- Dark Knight weapons generally aren't that great for PVP. At least in my opinion. They don't have an S or A rank in any given stat and the move sets are outclassed by other weapons of their respective classes. The exception is the Black Knight Great Axe which has huge side to side range and fast swings. They also can not be enchanted with spells or resin.
- Most people have constant invasions around the Undead Burg area (prior to the Bridge Taurus demon or w/e it's called) at around 15-20 and around 20-30 at the Twin Gargoyles around the Parish. A good place to get fast EXP early on is by kicking the ladder that leads from the red dragon bridge back to the Undead Burg bonfire. Use the fire, climb up to the bridge to make the dragon spit fire to fry the hallows and quickly go back down the ladder for 500+ xp each kill.

Zecilius answered this pretty damn well, but here is my take.
1. Depends on build mostly; but Endurance is one of your most important stats as it determines not only maximum load, but also max stamina. Should note that your stamina will only be increased up to 40 Endurance. Vitality is second usually since that's your HP and all. You really only need as much of the rest as it takes to equip whatever weapon you want. All the stats except Vitality (even Vitality to an extent) have a soft cap at 50 to where the benefit of them severely drops off. You still gain afterwards just no where near the amount of before.
2. I don't believe you can grind the Black Knights. Unless you manage to quit your game without saving, which is fairly hard to do since it autosaves after just about anything. If you really want the sword I can give you all of the Black Knight weapons if you want to play with them.
3. Grinding for exp early will only make the rest of the game easier (assuming you actually spend the souls you collect). So it's really up to you. Generally you don't want to "grind" on beginning mobs because the time:reward ratio is ***. One of the best places to "grind" for souls is in Darkroot Garden, which can be reached really early. Here is a video showing what to do.

There are probably better videos out there that explain more and are of better quality but this shows you the gist of it.

Carbuncle.Josiahfk said: »Remember this; Pyromancy is not based on any stat. so if you *** up and lvl the wrong thing super badly and worst comes to worst, you can still lvl up your pyromancy gear and 2 shot bosses easily with just that. that's part of why a level 1 char can be so deadly.
Also once you arrive in the darkroot garden if you explore a huge amount, you can find a poise+40 ring called wolf ring. Will help out hugely early in the game and the zone is reachable technically at any time at all and without exploiting master key.
If you have no luck with a certain drop you want, don't have to spam restart. I have a level 2 char on all systems that has extra weapons to help out if necessary~
That ring is useful even later on, depending on your build. But yeah, it's almost god-tier early levels.
Screw your extra weapons, they have Josi germs. He wants mine, mine are all new and clean. Also they sparkle.

how do you send weapons O_o
But yeah i decided to go the "knight" route. i just figured it would be the easiest since it's my first time.
can you change classes during the game? or do you have to wait until NG+ ?

What setup you thinking so far, knight?
yeah i think i'm going to roll with knight for the duration of the game.
I've learned to love "taking it slow" and learning how to properly riposte has helped so much as well.
counter attacks and riposte and taking it slow and so far it hasn't been that bad of a trek lol.
edit- i *** hate rats :( can never kill them before they get poison off
