Gae Bolg was in FFXI as well, and i don't remember people making fun of it. Then again, when i got my DRG that high, most people forgot it existed

The only frustrating part of these steps I see (well potentially frustrating) is melding the weapon. everything else is cake.

So any news on the drop rate of the dungeon items?
I don't feel like sorting through the complaining on OF.

I can't give much of an update on the drop rate of the Miser's Mythril.
However, I can say 3 members now have passed the double melded stage, and Dragoon, Archer, and Monk all have to collect Miser's Mythril first. If this trend continues, it seems Miser's Mythril might be it's own stage... and maybe Salts afterwards?
Also, the Unfinished weapons say they inhibit spiritbond. I'm assuming we may have to slay monsters (perhaps primals or dungeon bosses) in order to fullfill the spiritbond on the unfinished weapons. This is just speculation. The reason why we haven't tried going for Miser's Mythril to test drop rate is because we're working on getting everyone/a few more of us on the same stage, instead of just 1 persons relic at a time. The suspense is killing me. :P
EDIT: Our WAR just double melded his Rampager, he has to collect 3 Miser's Mythril as well. So it seems all jobs have to for this stage.

Alright, thanks for the update!

Theres a guide in progress Here on XIV Pands. At least I assume it is in progress since there have been additions since I first saw it earlier. Most have probably seen this info already but throwing it out there just in case.
Edit: or someone made a thread with the link already that I missed.
By SniperRifle 2012-06-11 00:48:25
We did 6 AV runs with 7 people in the group on the Miser's Mythril stage. Not 1 single Mythril was obtained, dark matter everytime. So, 7x6 + my 1 attempt a few days ago, that's 43 chests = 0 Mythril.
Either we're missing something still or, it just has very bad drop rate. I believe we're doing this all day tomorrow, so we'll have a more accurate grasp as to what is in store.

They are removing a good chunk of content from the game but the weapons I'm sure will carry over, the quest to obtain them may be altered however. No way to say for sure at this point.

I dunno . . . finding 8 people to do Hamlets has been the hardest part so far (at least for me). Melding the weapon is kinda shitty but at least something I can overcome

Out of curiosity where do those chests appear? Is there only 1 per run? Is it individual for each person?
By AndiSorell 2012-06-12 12:40:29
Everyone cab see it and open it but only those that have the quest can get stuff from it.
By Judgmental 2012-06-12 15:25:55
Just curious, do the Miser's Mythril go straight to your inventory or do they go to your loot pool in which case would make them passable?

The group I was with started super speed run last night. Fastest time was 20 minutes. Miser dies pretty fast. Though the other parts need some fine tuning.

First result on google for "ffxiv relic quest"
Step 1 - Earn 25,000 seals and buy the key item "On the Properties of Beastmen"
Step 2 - Obtain Inferno Seal x3, Tremor Seal x3, Vortex Seal x3 from Rank 2 Hamlet (gold chest requiring 60K+ scores)
(Note: Step 1 & 2 can be completed in any order)
Step 3 - Talk to Rowena and Exchange for a Soiled Promissory Note
Step 4 - Go to Gerolt and start Quest "A Relic Reborn"
Step 5 - Gather HQ mats and craft or buy Class-Only Weapons (prefferably HQ)
Step 6 - Double meld the gear with 2 Teir IV Materia of a specific Type as follows:
PLD = Mailbreaker + Heaven's Eye IV (Accuracy)
MNK = Avengers + Manathirst IV (+MP)
WAR = Rampager + Touch of Rage IV (Emnity)
DRG = Obelisk + Savage Might IV (Crit Attack)
BRD = Sarnga + Heaven's Eye IV (Accuracy)
WHM = Alkaurops + Mind IV (Mind)
BLM = Astrolobe + Hell's Fist IV (Magic Potency)
(Note: Steps 5 & 6 can be completed prior to starting the quest)
Step 7 - Kill chief NM of one specified Stronghold for the 'broken weapon' item
PLD = Flamefist Ahlygg Roh in Zahar'ak
MNK = Flamefist Ahlygg Roh in Zahar'ak
WAR = Third Order Patriarch Zu Ga in U'Gamaro
DRG = Lozol Totoloq the Decapitator in Natalan
BRD = Lozol Totoloq the Decapitator in Natalan
WHM = Third Order Patriarch Zu Ga in U'Gamaro
BLM = Third Order Patriarch Zu Ga in U'Gamaro
Step 8 - Turn in the Broken Weapon and the Double Meld to Gerolt
Step 9 - Gather 3 Miser's Mythril in Aurum Vale. The 6th chest will appear as long as you have the Relic Quest started. Completing the dungeon in 17 minutes or less gives a 100% item drop. Longer runs still have a chance of drop, but it is a low %. Hand them in to Gerolt
Step 10 - Gather 3 Alumina Salts in Cutter's Cry. Same deal as Step 9. Hand in to Gerolt
Step 11 - Gather a certain number of beastcoins from the appropriate beatmen tribe (10 stacks Tier 1 OR 5 stacks Tier 2 OR 1 stack Tier 3)
PLD = 990 of the Bronze Amalj'ok OR 495 of the Iron Amalj'ok OR 99 Darksteel Amalj'ok
MNK = 990 of the Bronze Amalj'ok OR 495 of the Iron Amalj'ok OR 99 Darksteel Amalj'ok
WAR = 990 of the Titan Copperpiece OR 495 of the Titan Mythrilpiece OR 99 Titan Electrumpiece
DRG = 990 of the Ixali Willowknots OR 495 of the Ixali Mapleknots OR 99 Ixali Ebonknots
BRD = 990 of the Ixali Willowknots OR 495 of the Ixali Mapleknots OR 99 Ixali Ebonknots
WHM = 990 of the Titan Copperpiece OR 495 of the Titan Mythrilpiece OR 99 Titan Electrumpiece
BLM = 990 of the Titan Copperpiece OR 495 of the Titan Mythrilpiece OR 99 Titan Electrumpiece
(Note: THe farming of coins can be completed at any time before this point)
Step 12 - Gather Item "Enchiridion" from one of the chests at the end of Dezmael Darkhold
Step 13 - Gather item "Allagan Band" from completing a r45 behest in Iron Lake, Broken Water or Nine Ives
Step 14 - Gather item "Oschon's Finger Charm" from completing a caravan escort with a perfect run (1,000/1,020 seals) at Skull Valley, Drybone or Treespeak.
Step 15 - Exchange the beastcoins and the items from Step 12-14 to Rowena for a 'manuscript' item with the information needed to complete the weapon construction.
Step 16 - Hand the item to Gerolt to obtain the "Unfinished" Weapon (it won't have colour)
Step 17 - Raise the Spiritbond of the weapon to 100%
Step 18 - Obtain the appropriate Faction Levequest from the Adv Guild for 100 faction points. Complete the faction (kill NM) with the weapon equipped
PLD = Operation: Tailspin from Brotherhood of the Broken Blade
MNK = Wanted: Striped Lightning from Azeyma's Shields
WAR = Operation: Deepground from Brotherhood of the Broken Blade
DRG = Wanted: Ursulien The Unseen from Azeyma's Shields
BRD = Operation: Leaving The Nest from Brotherhood of the Broken Blade
WHM = Wanted: Porus from Azeyma's Shields
BLM = Wanted: Princess Pudding from Azeyma's Shields
Step 19 - Defeat Garuda

Sorry I saw this But was hoping for a walkthrough that explained how to do each step. Guess it doesn't matter atm since can't play the game now. But wanted to get started on relic as soon as ARR is released

They going to change a lot on how to get a relic. Like to get the ore and salt no longer need to do speed runs for that. So they be other way how to get that item.

Btw I don't know how the current relic quest is, but did they learn from ffxi and give it story? It seems like each class has its own relic weapon (like mythics) So does everyone have their own relic weapon storyline? I think it would be best if it was like this
Relic weapon has a past and a story, and each time they increase the level they add new story quests to the relic armor/weapons so we can enhance them and still get a good story out of it. instead of how ffxi is where you get the weapon and then do mog crap to increase its power.
By Thunderz 2013-03-01 20:37:19
They are not changing the core for the relic requirements
no idea if they are removing the 17min SR for sure either way obtaining a relic is a walk in the park if your in a good LS

They had somewhat a storyline i only really read the DRG one but to tell you the truth it felt a lot like copy/paste. like getting the unfinished from the beastmen boss felt the same for BLM and MNK. It did not feel like it was a story by itself they all was the same with a few change here and there.
Hoping the upgrade version of the relic have a real storyline.

Seeing how in 2.0 there no longer speed run = get more chest for items they would have to change the way you get the salt/ore i think that the only one that really going to change a lot/
Copy pasted off The Lodestone
Quote: Eorzea has witnessed a resurgence of the old ways in recent days, as adventurers the realm over take up the ancient trades of warrior and dragoon, bard and black mage, and more. Now, it is the traditional weaponry of these old mantles that are sought, the means of their making long since lost to the ages. It would seem this longing for things past and old is not limited merely to the schools of war and magic...
Relic Weapons
The reformation of Eorzea’s Grand Companies was born of a longing in the hearts of the free peoples of Eorzea—a longing for the days of old and the peace they knew. It is a sentiment that has since spread to the realm’s adventurers, guiding them toward the rediscovery of trades from a former age that had all but died out. Small wonder, then, that those who have mastered these ancient ways of battle and sorcery now seek the weapons of eld which will enable them to realize the truest expression of their newfound powers. Thus have adventurers begun their quest for the relics.
Obtaining Relic Weapons
Relic weapons are a category of arms designed specifically for a certain job. They are obtained via the “A Relic Reborn” quest, which can be undertaken as of the release of patch 1.22b*. Only players who have completed at least one of the job quests and obtained a soiled promissory note from the NPC Rowena in Ul’dah will be eligible for this quest. Once these conditions are met, “A Relic Reborn” can be started by speaking to the NPC Gerolt at the Hawthorne Hut, found within the Black Shroud.
“A Relic Reborn” is a repeatable quest. After completing it and obtaining a relic weapon, it may be begun again to obtain a different relic weapon. It is not possible, however, to progress towards two different relic weapons simultaneously. Should you wish to pursue a different relic weapon while “A Relic Reborn” is already underway, you must abandon the quest and begin anew. Epic challenges and hard work await those who undertake “A Relic Reborn,” so please choose the object of your desire carefully, lest you find yourself coveting your neighbor’s weapon!
* Though quest progression is possible as of version 1.22b, completion will not be possible until a future patch release.
So what do you guys think? I get the feeling these won't take as much to get as FFXI relics given that there is only a few months left till 2.0 but maybe closer to emp weapons in terms of a time frame. No mention of them recieving any unique weaponskills or abilities so theres a chance they will just be another step up in gear from what we have now and then repleaced down the line.
I didn't want to copy over the whole thing so Pictures and background details
