It had it's own sort of mini spin-off at one point. I remember seeing this on TV as a kid and thinking that with Tom dying Toonami was ending too haha. Scared me to death

Edit: That actually wasn't the video I was thinking of, but it was another little spin-off they did. The one I was referring to was basically what Jet had said in his last post. He was killed saving the ship from the virus, but then came back as a newer more refined version of Tom.

If you want to know what happened to TOM 1.0, go watch "The Intruder" on youtube. It was an interactive mini-series that ran on Toonami which dealt with TOM, his ship, and some other things.

Episode 1:
Edit: Beaten, kinda.

Did he die after saving the AI? I thought he was perfectly fine after the whole "Trapped in Hyperspace" arc. I do remember Tom 1.0 dying after the first story arc where they introduced the much more appealing Tom 2.0. He later became Tom 3.0 but there was never a story to go along with it, as you can see from the end of the "Hyperspace" video he was still 2.0 (mostly look at the logo on his chest as compared to the picture Gal posted to tell the difference).

That last Tom though, it just kinda happened. There was no explanation made for it in the actual show. You can tell it was CN just trying to force them to be more kid friendly though, from the design.

No pesky commercials that leave you at a cliff-hanger for joo!

I remember watching DBZ for the first time on Toonami and the inevitable "Next time on Dragon Ball Z" /endshow. Then having to wait all the way till the next day just to find out Goku is still powering up (even though they showed something different in the previews). xD

Hmmm... I thought "The Intruder" dealt with TOM 2.0 as well. Guess it's been too long.

With this mind set no TV station is needed.

Also we have no idea what their lineup will include; most likely anime though.

I despise watching things on my computer and it's a hassle -- and generally not high enough quality -- streaming it to a 55 inch television.

Not that I'll watch it on cable, either.

I have really, really great memories of Toonami, but that's because it was the primary place to watch those things back then. Now, with cheap DVDs, Netflix/Amazon Prime and other options, I see no point in watching when they decide to put it on and let me watch.

Additionally, I'm still boycotting CN for all the garbage live action stuff they put on Adult Swim. It's Cartoon Network. If you're not showing cartoons, you're f***ing wrong.

No TV station is needed to watch whatever you want that's currently available.

The problem is -- not so much in the case of Toonami but in the case of shows still in production or yet to be produced -- someone has to pay for this content to be produced, and most of the time that's advertising revenue.

There needs to be some way for networks to produce shows without needing the commercial revenue to support them. I absolutely love some television shows, but some that have gotten cancelled (Firefly comes to mind immediately) were on a time slot I couldn't watch and they got blasted by the garbage reality television shows that the general public seems to adore.

I would willingly pay $100 per season for a good show if it kept it in production and I could own it on BluRay and watch it whenever I wanted.

Toonami was truly wonderful at the time, though. Introduced me to a lot of great stuff I would have never watched otherwise. College wouldn't have been the same without it.

You don't need a TV station to watch something, as long as it's something that's already been produced/paid for/etc.

That is to say, if you want new things to watch, you need television or movie studios producing things in the classic sense. If there’s no advertising revenue (in the case of the episodic television series we’re discussing, anyhow), no one is going to pay to have new programming produced.

Not interested in going into this with you because your answer is "pirate everything" and I don't agree, and I don't want to hijack another thread for the arguments that ensue.

Suffice to say, even for the things that are available at 720 through legal means, I find it to be a hassle to get everything set up.

I've encountered lots of problems streaming through home networks. Maybe I'm not tech savy enough to work out the hiccups. Maybe my hardware just isn't capable of it at this time. Either way. I prefer DVD or video services to streaming from my PC to my television.

I see your point there but it doesn't change anything. When he says that "Toonami isnt needed lol. As awesome as it was, you can watch everything they show online for free now." then there are a ton of stations that are not needed. Within a day of any broadcast there will be a pirated version of it; so that statement looses all point.

Basically you can't apply pirating to Toonami without applying it to everything. I'm not endorsing pirating though.

That's kinda my point. I worry for the future of quality programming because no one (myself included) has the time/interest in watching things on network television when we can easily watch it without commercials and whenever we want to via the internet or other methods.

Honestly, I'm not; entertainment will always be around, ever changing. The medium of TV may go away but something better will replace it. What will most likely happen and is currently happening is that sites such as Hulu will take over and provide advertising and/or membership fees to support new shows. Pirating does hurt this; it's getting harder and harder to pirate though.

D: Holy jebus.

I don't watch TV any more (don't have cable or even an antenna hooked up to my TV at the apartment), so I seem to have missed this announcement.

God I remember going over to my grandmother's after school and watching toonami. DBZ, YuYu Hakusho, Kenshin, and many more noms from my teenage years. D: And sitting up late-ish on Saturday nights to watch Cowboy Bepop.

I remember when Tech TV used to show random anime late nights. I watched like the entire series of Lain on there D:

A shame I wont have the money for cable or even the time to watch. Being a grown up and having to work all week and then going to school on top of that. How I miss the days of looking forward to 3-5 in the afternoon.

streaming isn't that difficult to set up...

pirating gives more options than the "legal" means, and I don't get what you mean by poor quality if you weren't talking of pirating.

I don't have any issues doing it...

My biggest issue with Hulu over let's say crunchyroll is that I can't block the ads.

Now if only the quality of their subbed was as good as fansubbing...

By harder and harder I meant the Governments are cracking down harder. Sure we can fight it as much as we want but in the end we saw what happened to mega upload.

That seems a bit misplaced the only obvious thing I said was that it will most likely have anime; which I only put because I knew someone would post: "It will have anime" if I had said just "Also we have no idea what their lineup will include".

Around 3-4 weeks ago (or something like that) Adult swim was replaced with Toonami for one night. I remember because i wanted to watch that episode of Full Metal Alchemist Where Ed finds Al's body in the Gate and it was replaced with Gundam Wing and had Tom version 2 and the ship. They were also showing a bunch of old shows as well but i don't really remember which my power went out 15 minutes later >.<

Might've been just me then, this is what I remember:
They definitely finished it.

Showed it at least once if not twice. Afterwards I think they started a little bit of the horror that is GT.
yes it did end,but on the topic of gt i do not think it was all bad granted they did not air all the episodes at one time they aired from like 5-end then they came back with the lost episodes is what they called it(granted i may be wrong on the number of what the lost episodes begin or ended from but u get the point)

most likely i would not be to shocked to see them pick like 5-6 shows off the funimation website then as they air them then they hopefully will look for others from other companys, but i can pick 10 right now on funimation that i could see them airing.
