I have try with meat ball and never got any bite ...
I always used meat balls, however they never really bite often for me. I think I could maybe catch 1~2 a boat ride tops? It's been like a year since I've fished, so I don't really remember. I kinda gave them up after like three days and just went after Lik/Hakuryus for monies, much easier ^^v

Think he's fishing for his saber shoot that being said..... you could maybe fish what you can that makes some decent gil and just buy the hell out of gugs.
