Whatever the content is, it won't be released in disc form for several reasons. And imo will be minimal in size as possible for however large it may seem. (data size). Just for DLC efficiency.
1)DLC is cheaper to profit from, compared to disc distribution.

2)Convincing retailers to carry a NEW ps2 disc will be damn near impossible.

so whatever the content released, it will just be a larger DLC add-on. The last disc FFXI will ever see will be wotg.

And without a disc release, it will be mediocre.

My opinion. Take it for what its worth.

I agree with this. Unless they drop PS2 support we'll never see a new disc. More mini add-ons in our future.

At this point I don't think anyone believes SE could muster the content to fill a CD, let alone a DVD. Almost all recent content (including most of WoTG) has been nothing but reskinning what is already in the game, and at this rate nobody expects anything more. I can't imagine reskinning takes a lot of space personally. The coolest new-looking thing you guys will get this year is probably TrueType.

I suppose so. At least FFXIV is looking promising. Never hurts to take a break from 11 and play 14 for a while regardless of how fail it is atm.

It's not fail indeed, the game is rather "good" nowadays.

But to be perfectly honest, the content is very poor. It doesn't take more than 2 weeks to do absolutely everything, starting from a lv 1 brand new character.

And unless you have a lot of faith or no other MMO/serious game to play, FFXIV won't hold you until 2.0.

That is fail in my book. Two weeks of doing stuff then I get bored. I've been playing 14 on and off since beta. If that's mainstream then I guess I am.

I'm beginning to wonder if that will even change when 2.0 is released.

Sure the overall game and experience will be better, but will they deliver on meaty, long-lasting content that will keep you coming back for more? I sure hope so. Because the way it is now, I have fun with the game, but I just can't see myself playing it long-term.

Any idea you think is new is old and has already been asked for by SE so there's no point in sending them anything.

that was not what i was getting at when i said that. what i meant was i was under the idea if enough people seem to care or want it then se may think of adding it.

There's the problem though; not enough people want more jobs. I know I don't, we already have 20 and s/e can't balance them properly. Imagine if it was 25 or 30. There is no way they could properly balance that.

Looking at all the jobs/classes in every FF title, theres not much left they can actually do. Alot of the jobs in FFXI are actually hybrids and bits and pieces of many classes in the FF series. So unless they create something else entirely new...

And... yeah.. lol

that sounds more or less like a good point but i still would think it would be cool to see a few new classes and see how it changes ffxi.

Onion Knight.... (lulz). Machinist doesn't fit into this game world very well. some form of Alchemist would, could use real world items, as well as job specific items just like ninja, maybe could actually "summon/conjure" certain items which would also bring a new element into the game. Some form of a Sage would fit as well, probably a H2H/magic hybrid, leaning toward the physical more than a red mage, but it would require it's own spells (maybe a new category "nature magic") and possibly a whole new system of some sort.

That's basically it.

And None of this is really forseeable.

i just got a idea about how a Geomancer chould work in ffxi.the weather would not give them spells or any thing like it dose in other ff games but more like upping the power of that element for the zone your in and the day and the weather if any is going on in the zone that u are in.

if anyone has any ideas for making this job better or something please post it here and edit my idea if u need 2.

See: Scholar
That's where they got Scholar from.
(Also that's kinda how weather works already lol)

I didn't imply they will make more jobs. What I did actually do is quite frankly, without a doubt, prove that there are 2 more classes that would be entirely applicable and unique to ffxi. Other than Onion Knight/Freelancer, Sage and Chemist are pretty much it. Unless they make something entirely new.

u just made me think that they could use ffxi and ff14 to test a new job if they really wanted what u think of that ideas then down the road it could play a role in a new ff game or something like every other ff class has.

Sony has ended production of their PS2 discs, so no.

as for dlc: SE still needs to fix their crappy update method that's been broken since day 1.

as for the ps2 disc reading: buy a multimeter, look online for a guide to adjust the screw on the bottom of the lens, don't rip your ribbon cables.

you were talking of the ps2 when you said your system can't read discs well right?

the playstation 2's laser lens has a potentiameter on the bottom of it that can be adjusted for output, you can measure it with a multimeter to be sure as to how you're adjusting it.

I forgot to check mine when I adjusted it last time, needless to say it doesn't read anything, I haven't taken the time to take it apart again to get to it, the ps2 is kind of a pain in the *** to disassemble.

Instead of update after updatea and $9.99 add-ons (which are largely lame imo) will FFXI ever see a 5th expansion pack? I've actually not played the game for over a year now but would come back in a heartbeat if a new FULL FLEDGED expansion came out.

I would think with the 10th anniversary coming up it would be perfect time to do so. It's been sooo long since one came out.

Nah, it's not about balancing.
The last time they attempted to make all job useful was shunned by many people. Once people get away with their insecurity for not being the best, there will always be useless job.

SE have commented many times on Bahamut. In FFXI, he is given an even higher god like image than other games and the other avatars. They felt giving him an avatar for people to carry around would ruin his personality and image.
