Will there ever be a 5th expansion pack?

I.... did not know about Raspberry Pi.... I... may have to buy one... I'm intrigued.

I ordered mine near the end of march, anyone who ordered before 4/18/2012 should get theirs by the end of June. (there was a delay due to compliance testing etc) I'm going to love when I get mine, I already have my sd card, I am tempted to buy a keyboard/mouse combo but I'm not sure if the logitech combos would work or if I'd need to find somebody to write a driver. I could just use a basic usb keyboard/mouse but that's no fun.
As for Calnus: I've fixed enough 360's to know that they melt under just about anything, it's a safe bet really. Sadly I've replaced parts in them myself. Yes they have a notorious past with overheating. But the system itself is more than capable in my opinion. As stated several times it's pure speculation that we will have to agree to disagree.
Until we can install windows and try it.. neither of us can argue it as fact.
Also... I think I'm ordering a Raspberry Pi sometime soon lol... that looks so amazing to play with.
if one were to mod it and put proper cooling and solder on it, sure, but a vanilla 360 na.
why does it need windows for that?
as for the Pi, order it sooner than later, but be expecting to wait. How else would you plan to run the PC version of FFXI on the 360 without installing windows? Unless you planned to piggyback through other possible means.
I assumed the argument revolved around the ability to RUN the pc version of FFXI on the 360 as is without major modifications on the system itself without overheating and melting, to which you stated it couldn't in personal theory and opinion.
Did I miss something and get whooshed?

think so, was talking of a recompiled 360 port that isn't full of bugs, which they've been working on some of them anyway for 360 and ps2.
(according to community rep posts etc).

the 360 couldn't handle XI even if it was coded properly, it would still overheat and burn. Reliability aside the hardware specs on the 360 would indeed handle FFXI if it was properly coded for it.

I have several gen 360's and they all have failed miserably, and I treated them all well.

Fact 1: My 2nd gen 360 is a champ and hasn't had issues even after extended use and abuse. Going on 7 years.
Fact 2: You've had bad 360s.
While I don't deny more often then not 360s have issues it doesn't matter when talking about the specs on a 360 being more than enough to run FFXI had it been properly ported.

and again, XBox360 ran FF13 and FF13-2 just fine, but yeah, 11 would get to it

good thing neither of those games do anything as intensive as Besieged.
(prerendered backgrounds and videos apparently are handled better, who'd have thought it).

I'd leave my PS2 on for days with FFXI as well. The thing was absolutely caked in dust, but gave me 7 years of playtime, 3 with XI. The first 2 years accruing 300 days playtime. Then it was stolen by a junkie so he could pawn it for crack.
This does not prove that my console or your 360 are good consoles easily capable of running the game; we were just lucky. (Though PS2s were indeed hardier than 360s in general).

while this is most definitely true for the 360, I'm not sure where you get this idea for the ps2, also work on your english some.

I see nothing wrong with the the topic, it's an important part of the game that is eventually going to come in some form.
No there isn't going to be a 5th expansion but there is going to be another stage of the game regardless what it's officially called. I don't see what's so wrong about this topic that is has to be locked :\

There is a difference between the topic of a thread, and the content of a thread. The only thing that is wrong with this thread is it got derailed along the way. You have to make an effort to contribute to bring it back, you can't just come in here and say it should be locked and walk away. That in my opinion is worse than derailment, you're not even offering up your opinion at all when even something as small as an opinion can spark up a healthy discussion.
There is plenty of room for discussion that people can theorize and brainstorm of what's to come, or even make the case that nothing will ever come. Both sides have merit here, I don't see why it should be locked when there is plenty of room for recovery.

Only 5 years too late for such thoughts. Plenty of storyline could be expounded on, but their dev team is too lackluster and crippled to even implement those loose ends. I hope they add more content to 10 year old zones instead. I don't think there's ever enough of that. Seriously, the game is a joke. It's sad to see this once beautiful lady get gang raped and then urinated on by shitty job adjustments, among other things. The hopes of a new expansion is fodder for disappointment.
Instead of update after updatea and $9.99 add-ons (which are largely lame imo) will FFXI ever see a 5th expansion pack? I've actually not played the game for over a year now but would come back in a heartbeat if a new FULL FLEDGED expansion came out.
I would think with the 10th anniversary coming up it would be perfect time to do so. It's been sooo long since one came out.
