yeah, that only works if there was something to get, your point was made on a false premise, as your information was lacking, so it is indeed you who doesn't get it
I think the roadmap that SE has planned for this year is the best one yet. It's going to put console users on a more even keel with us windower users. Also looking forward to the additional macros. I wish they do come out with a full expansion though, if for nothing else to tie in all the stories or something. Idk. Hopefully though, it includes 20 additional slots to my gobbie bag^^
wait can u explain i do not understand what u mean it will bring

that is the part of your message i do not understand and would like u to explain more please.

Celebrindal I agree with everything u just said. I actually would RATHER them focus more on XIV, it is the newer FF game. I guess they have to choose one or the other really.
i do not mean to sound funny but i would be happy with the ffxi team working on ffxi only seeing as granted we are doing so much better then ffxiv but there is still things to do here or add or fix and yes i would welcome a storyline with caps and hard fights like Cop again.
Knock on wood and all but there a very small part of me that hopes they do continents to the East, South, and North. Someone posted a fan made map, but despite being fan made there are truths to stuff like that. They should dump 14 (never gonna happen) dump console support (never gonna happen) and do those other 3 (never gonna happen) and cause the majority of players who quit to come back, and as long as they don't do anything too crazy, an older pc could still handle it, so ps2/360 users wouldn't have any/many issues getting a new (old) pc or just using whatever Dell/HP they have already.

btw u said something about a fan made map do u know where i can find this i want to look at it.

Hmmm I can't remember what thread it was in... Anyone remember where that was?
There it is, regardless however, I am hoping that another expansion will be coming out in the future. If not, at least give us a pretty damn good add-on of some sorts that'll be worth doing.
The following is admittedly speculation, but based on years of observing the development of this game, FFXI, and its relationship to Square-Enix as a whole, and also the changes in the video game market, in general.
In the fiscal year ending March 2011, Square Enix announced they'd lost the equivalent of nearly $150 Million USD.
Data from the fiscal year ending in March 2012 should be forthcoming in a matter of days. That will be interesting.
Basically, Square Enix is getting its *** kicked by the ever-growing number of competitors ... and unlike 5-to-10 years ago, many of its competitors are now producing games that rival or even outclass the stuff Square-Enix is marketing. While others have innovated and produced creative successful merchandise, Square Enix has rested on its laurels and produced a bunch of mediocre junk.
Sadly, that's been to our benefit ("our" meaning those of us who love FFXI) ... because if Square Enix had remained successful, and continued to prosper, frankly, FFXI probably would have been canned already. However, due to the utter failure of almost everything S-E has sent to market during the past couple of years, they have no choice but to keep FFXI running, even if it's on "life support". FFXI is one of S-E's only cash cows at present ... and since they can't afford the resources to really upgrade and improve FFXI, they'll just leave it on life-support as long as the monthly subscriptions keep coming.
It's like when you own an older car with lots of mileage on its engine. It's so old and worn that no one's really interested in buying it from you ... and the repairs the car really needs would cost you more than the value of the car itself ... so what do you do with a car like that?
You can't sell it. It ain't worth fixing. But it's still running, for now. ... So the best option is to just "run it into the ground".
And that's what's happening here. Need proof? Just look at the garbage updates and lazy excuses produced by the development team and its "community reps".
Honestly, the only way FFXI would ever truly get a major rejuvenation, overhaul, or "major expansion" is if a ballsy developer, with a LOT of capital to burn, approached S-E about taking over FFXI, AND then S-E would actually have to agree to turn over the reigns of a game that features its marquis brand.
Very unlikely ... but possible.
Just don't hold your breath waiting for S-E to deliver breathtaking or exciting new content for FFXI. If you like FFXI as it is, then go on, keep playing it, and enjoy it for what it is. If you're biding your time on FFXI, anticipating some super-exciting new expansion in the future, then you're simply waiting for a train that ain't coming.
Sorry to say but this map popped up around 5 years ago (prior to TOAU release) and most people assumed some crazed fan(s) made it using SE's posts about TOAU upcoming. It just keeps making its rounds to the generations of newer FFXI people of the years like a bad facebook share post.
There was even rumors about extra CoP content visiting Tenzen's homeland (far east), and the Mithra homelands.
He'll just sell in-game items for real money on the Blizzard-Sanctioned RMT shop thing. I was sort of critical of it at first, but you can't complain about making money off of a hobby.

No way in hell they allow anyone to touch one of their main franchise, we are talking Japanese here, not any western company.
It might be an old car but you can always try to pimp it one last time, that's what Xzibit taught me.

I agree with this fully whoever disagrees and keeps beating on the dead horse of adding expansions and what not that's just addiction talk lol

Yeah? Well I disagree and whoever disagrees with me is the one beating on a dead horse lol.
This dead horse can be beaten faster with the new SAM buffs that will be released.
As well as a new storyline that focuses on the struggles of Aroro, how she came to Windurst to peddle her black magic wares, in her lifelong goal of having a store of her own.
It all began with a jewel
... or maybe it was a stone.
No, it was a scroll of Stonega.
But for $9.99 you can do some fetch quests, a dungeon crawl of Ranguemont Pass at lvl 3 cap, and eventually get a nifty pair of shoes you can customize with your choice of augments.
They need a big fat arab to come in like Manchester City, pump millions into it regardless of never recouping the money.
The game is what it is now, if your looking for its glory days you would be better spent trying to create a time machine and traveling back to 2005-2007 and playing it all over again.
Not slating the game, I love it for what it is, despite my dislike of abyssea and whats come since, I won't be cancelling my account whatever happpens, but if you want to be part of a game with a growing community and regular updated content, Theres a wide selection of games on the lolbox and ps3
But the true question is... what new impossible to get weapons will they add that only .00000000001% of the population will be able to attain that will take 10 more years to actually get doing mind numbingly tasks that have no reward to anyone that helps. With a 1% chance that they will be slightly better than a relic/mythic/emp. Then once 10 people have made the journey. They'll revamp the system so everyone and their dog can have one in a month.

Them's harsh words coming from someone with Militant Knuckles equipped.
I need something that will bring me back to 11 and suggestion
No suggestions. You need to find that out for yourself. Don't force yourself to play FF11.
On-topic I sure do hope they add more expansions. Could use more Lv99 quests and rewards. Only story line type thing they have out is Shinryu/Abyssea and hell that wasn't much of a story and that wasn't on par to Lv99 challenging. Might have been L90 or something. Don't exactly remember.

Wait ... this is off-topic ... but Blizzard sanctions a RMT system within its games?
I can't believe that the FTC and IRS haven't got their claws into that yet. Interesting.

these statements only prove that none of you three have any idea what it takes to develop a game or the technical ramifications.
@Elan: I applaud you for bothering to do research, but like Senkyuutai said, this isn't some western company.
as for SE: they tried their outreach to gain new customers and unfortunately they fell flat on their face, and instead of trying to regain the support of their base (that made them what they are) they continue to produce crap (in comparison with works of old). As for XI: to say if SE were doing well that they'd drop support on it is foolish, they don't drop support on it until the cost:profit ratio dips or is no longer substantial enough to support. They should have made XIV XI-2 in the first place, that's what a lot of people were hoping for.
As for another expansion: again there's one already on the way, it won't be as large as previous expansions though.
As for the the updates of late and the "excuses" from the Dev team etc, again you know nothing of development of a game and shouldn't feed people dribble like you do.

Jet:
I clearly stated that it would be very unlikely for S-E to sell FFXI to another developer. Not sure why both you and Sekyuutai bothered to reiterate that as if I didn't already know.
I'm not feeding anything to anyone ... especially not any "dribble" (did you mean "drivel"). I don't know why you're so insistent on asserting that I "know nothing of development of a game". You don't know that. Just because I've never developed a game myself doesn't mean I "know nothing about it". That's like saying I "know nothing" about baseball just because I can't hit major league pitching ... or that I "know nothing" about medicine just because I'm not a neurosurgeon. C'mon, man.
Instead of update after updatea and $9.99 add-ons (which are largely lame imo) will FFXI ever see a 5th expansion pack? I've actually not played the game for over a year now but would come back in a heartbeat if a new FULL FLEDGED expansion came out.
I would think with the 10th anniversary coming up it would be perfect time to do so. It's been sooo long since one came out.
