For anyone that uses Vista, just curious what you have for your score. If you've never looked, it's under Control Panel/System and Maintenance/System.

Reason I ask is, I don't know anyone that's gotten above a 5 something. My score is a 5.6 with the following hardware:

Intel Quad Core Q6600
Asus P5K Deluxe motherboard
4GB Corsair DDR2800 Ram
2x HD Radeon 4670 in Crossfire
500GB Western Digital SATA 2.0 Hard Drive

So yeah, I'm thinking the score doesn't mean a damn thing in reality, but if anyone's got like a 7 or 8 (or even a 10 omfg) please post your specs. I feel that my PC is reasonably powerful, but I guess according to Vista I'm middle of the road lol

Just curious if it's another Microsoft "need to have solid state drives, 16 GBs of memory, and 2 GB video cards to get a good score" type thing...

I have a 3.1 T.T

but in all seriousness the specs you got and getting a 5.6/10

means a 10/10 is a NASA PC operating at ??????

Don't worry your comp isn't being under~appreciated the rating system is just weird ._.

or comparing us to those 50,000$ pc

If I'm not mistaken, 5.9 is the highest you can get at the moment. I have 5.9 on everything except CPU, which is 5.8, and it is only a dual core. I'm sure a quad core would get 5.9 easily.

no point in getting a Quad core

nothing uses that tech yet and by the time sometimes does a cheaper version of a quad core would be out

Oh, LOL. Here I thought it was a 10 point scale. Ok, ya I feel better now. I've got a 5.9 on Processor, Graphics, and Hard Disk, a 5.8 on Gaming Graphics (lame) and a 5.6 on my memory....maybe I can do something to boost my memory speed?

At any rate, thanks for the link, clarified some things ^^

I got mine for pretty cheap, my old company went belly up and I got it at a 60% discount, spent like $200 for it iirc, over a year ago...although, now that the i7's are out, I want one so bad. Don't have the $1000 to drop on it ATM though lol

I'm 5.9 on everything except HDD speed, which is 5.6

Also, I have quad core, and when I render animations all four cores are capped out, so I don't know how that's not being used?

most video games dont use Quad core they use either 1 or 2 cores

most software don't use Quad~core its pretty new on the market so it will take sometime for it 2 be implemented

Maya 2009 is pretty new... I honestly have no idea how it works, I just know that when I render in HQ it uses up all 4 cores according to my little status monitor thingy

Adobe CS4 uses quad surprisingly. I like to afinity certain programs to certain cores.

Why on earth would you need all 4 cores for photoshop <_<

I mean, I know I've done some pretty hi-res stuff with it for school, but if the shitty school computers can handle 300ppi A3 images with half a dozen photos and 20 layers, I can't really see the need.

not always true if money is not an issue.

its like ffxi doesnt support dual core yet u play on dual core pc and get huge boost because altho the clock rate and ***is slower the processor is just more advanced in many other ways.
