So I want to get the mini expansions. I tried Game Stop and they said my only option was online streaming (Impulse, Steam ect). I tried to get them via steam before and couldnt figure out how. I got the download but the registration code didnt open the mini expansions for me. Any ideas what I can do before I pay for another download?

pre abyssea (shantotto, moogle, crystaline) not abyssea. I have those. That a bit more specific, but does it really matter as far as how to get the codes to play them?

My choices right now are try getting my old steam download code again (which didnt seam to work the first time, probably cause I didnt know how to use it properly)

or download it again from Impulse and try to get it to work (though I didnt figure out the steam stuff so I dont know that this options is better)

So my question really is: How do I make a full download allow me access to those mini expansions that I missed since I already have an account with SE and Im not looking for the complete collection just a specific part of it?

once you enter the cdkey (i think you do that on the SE account website now)
you just login to ffxi and boom, you got it.
there's no installation files.

Dumb question, but you did put the registration codes into playonline correct? If you did and it didn't work, I'd call the company that sold you the expansions and code and ask why its not working. No point in buying a fresh set if you haven't tried all options with the first purchase.

When I bought the abyssea expansions, amazon sent a faulty reg code. I called them and they sent a new code to my email within 15 mins. Hope that helps..

Edit: Yeah I forgot. I don't believe you put them into playonline anymore. You have to register through SE's website I believe.

On your SquareOnline account management, go to Service and Options, Select Service. Choose FFXI, then in Account Service Accounts, where your POL ID is choose Option List. At the bottom of the page theres the Button for Registration Codes Purchase.

@amael I found this option before, but they charge $10 per expansion. Since I have payed for the download once and since a 2nd download would only cost $20, I was hoping to avoid overpaying. If it comes down to it, I will probably do it though. You did provide the easiest solution so thank you for that. Due to cost it will be my last option though.

@nycon Im not sure where to put it in. Steam gave me 1 code. I was expecting a code for every expansion. When I put it into the expansion I wanted nothing happened. Im probably doing it wrong, but the instructions on how to use the code didnt help me accomplish what I was looking for.

@yarly But where do I enter it? When I used to but the expansions at the store they would each come with unique codes for each expansion. When I try to enter codes on the SE website they ask for unique codes for each expansion (like Im used to), but my download code from steam was 1 code total not 1 code for each expansion. So I dont know what to do.

Hmm, for the code you have, did you tried on Service and Options, Add a Service account [Add code to existing PlayOnline service account.]
Here takes you to a place where you input a registration code.

I am attempting to recover the code from steam. It has been a while so I lost it somewhere. I will try what amael suggested after I have a code again.

last time i went into gamestop and asked about FFXI they dissuaded me by saying FF14 is a shitty game that is free to play and that FFXI was about to be the same considering its on its last leg. i think after that explanation he tried suggesting that new Star Wars MMO after i asked for the vana'diel complete collection. i *** hate gamestop. ask for one thing, they try to sell you a subscription to an already over the hill magazine and force down your throat the notion of used video game purchasing; all so they can profit. let's go xbox 720.

or its gamestop being typical gamestop. whatever good was left in gamestop was forcibly disemboweled when they decided to stop selling back old systems and old games.

There should be library of games you've purchased (I think it's actually called "Library"), select XI on there and click the "Get CD Key" option and it'll show you the key (or at least, it did for me when I used it forever ago).

Or maybe might just be the gamestops around your area. Not all of them are evil and bad. Most likely its that staff at the one you have visited.

If the cost isn't too much of an issue, you might consider buying the latest all-in-one. Amazon sells it for $19, which is cheaper than buying the 3 mini's separately. (Link) You wouldn't even need to download it--just input the content ID's. You get all the expansions, including the 3 you're looking for, plus the most awesome hat ever. Okay, so it looks like it was made from a dead chocobo's head, but it gives you auto-reraise, auto-regen and auto-refresh as long as you are under level 30. It makes leveling up new jobs super easy. The only gripe I have with it is you can only give it to one of your characters.

We have bad game stops like that around here, usually they are the ones in a mall or near mall. We have like, 1 or 2 here that area really nice and helpful that we always go to.

IIRC you just enter the cdkey for one of the expansions you're missing then when you proceed, it'll ask if you want to unlock the other expansions that is tied to the cdkey.

but that was before they moved the playonline ***to the SE account website, i'd imagine it will be the same though.
