The thing about Bst that should not be overlooked is while it might not put out as much DoT as a well geared well buffed heavy DD the master/pet damage totals are not too shabby nowadays. The fact that you can put out decent damage while requiring virtually no healing is underrated.
That might not be very important in VW, but possibly work well in legion.
Any comparisons of just the master dd compared w/ a "heavy" dd to know where they fall? Frankly I've not been able to find any comparison. I don't think there has ever been a good one. That would at least give a base point for how much damage the pet would need to make up. I am not at all certain that BST doesn't already compare w/ "heavy" DD's. I think Ruinator was the last thing bst needed to be more competitive.
As far as AM3 on Aymur goes... Its quite a large boost. Looks like a 33% DA rate and 16% TA rate for both pet and master's main hand weapon. I normally hit ~1200 on my Primal Rends. 99 aymur should boost those up to ~1500~1600 damage. Ruinator will spike up to maybe 4k (I've only spiked to 3.8 in normal situations) but the average damage is not that high. I don't have parses for an average in my ruinators, but I would guess 2600. I DO think the AM3 (lasts 120s) can make up that damage.
That is the largest single boost... but don't forget the other nice perks. If you have aymur & ferine hands +2 then almost all your ready moves will go for 300% TP (100 boost from aymur, 50 boost from hands, 45 boost from fencer on war-type pets).
Its also the largest Attack boost you can get on your pet.
