<--- Problem?

Naw, I thought it made the game really stand out.

Or maybe I just like when games/movies/anything has that initial "what the ***?" concept, but it ends up being executed really well and exceeds expectations all around the board (i.e. Ecco).

Not so much a problem, it more or less didn't fit with how in depth the story actually is.
Then suddenly you get Donald duck and Goofy making dumb noises.
Completely ruined it for me to be honest.
I thought they added a nice touch to the story. The time in KH 2 where they make you think goofy died actually made me sad.

@ 1:55 is like my favorite CS out of the whole series.
(Could'nt find just a vid of the cs :x)

Crisis Core had a very depressing ending, but was my favorite, had a good ending song too.

I see a lot of people saying Chrono Trigger, but which ending was you guys' favorite?

Probably the genuine ending with the balloons and all.
The others were more like silly paradox "what if" endings that touched up on the side stories. They were fun and interesting, but ultimately short and unimportant. Plus the one where you get to talk to the developers in their own character models was really amusing too.

Edit: This rehash applies to all games that spanned eras, particularly Nintendo. Tell me Metroid Prime wasn't Super Metroid 3D, or Ocarina wasn't ALTTP 3D.

More edit: not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that, because those games are the best games ever.

I really can't see how you can make this comparison honestly. First off in Zelda ALTTP, Ganon is still that pig looking fiend he was in 1 and 2. Whereas in Ocarina, he was finally given a more human form. Secondly, idk.. the ENTIRE ocarina system and how important it was to the game... In zelda 1 and 2 (and i think there was one in 3) the flute played 1 simple song that did 2 things tops (in zelda 1 it whisked you away on a whirlwind/opened dungeons). In Ocarina of Time it did soooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

And let's not compare SNES's Super Metriod to the Game Cube's Metroid Prime, come on lol.

That might have been his oversight Row, but he was making the comparison that they were basically all rehashes. And in those two particular cases, I'm callin BS lol

I notice a lot of complaints that Zelda games are more or less the same. And while yes, the most broad and general observation is that they all involve the same protagonist, out to rescue the same damsel in distress while defeating the same evil antagonist to save the world from whatever horrible scheme he had planned. However, if you payed enough attention to the stories of each game, you'll realize that everything is a Legend that repeats itself in different eras and passed down through different generations. Almost as if the hero, the princess, and the evil thief king are spirits of sorts that live through eternity and pass down into a new person every passing age.

It's kind of remarkable in a way to step in the feet of link and see the transitions and movement of Hyrule from previous and potential for future endeavors. While the stories take on different angles and approaches with varying situations, they retain the same figure at the core thus giving Zelda it's own charm and identity that feels right as rain regardless of which title you pick up. Not to mention a great deal of admiration for the ability to reinvent itself so consistently yet so dynamically per title.

The Suikoden II ending when you get all 108 stars is probably my all-time favorite.

A good example of what I mentioned was like when you find the book on the language of Hylian in ALTTP and use it to translate those headstones to gain your new spells or access dungeons, that you see the very same form of writing throughout Hyrule in OOT. So something clicked in my head like "Heyyyyy, this must be waaaaaaay before A link to the past if this language is used everywhere as common now."
It really is remarkable to see a familiar legend recrafted, remolded and passed down over centuries of time in the same framework all with varying storylines and plots.

edit: To be on topic, here is a list that I can really remember I liked:

-Zelda: OoT
-Diablo I/II
-Super Smash Brothers Brawl(I have unique taste :<)
-FFX(probably the only one I thoroughly kept track of the story)
-Halo Reach(more of a nostalgia type of memory, from playing Halo CE and so on)

Metroid Prime was not a rehash. It was an amazing game. However.... Super Metroid was the greatest game of all time... IMO

I think it would be badass if you could take any Disney character you come across with you and replace Goofy/Donald. But then they'd have to write lines for them to share with you along the story and certain actions for them to take, and that'd be some srs work. Take Mulan and Simba or somethin'. :x

But I agree. Those two sidekick characters can detract from the seriousness of a scene if they open their mouths.

I have to disagree. I really liked the first one because it had a good balance of serious and lighthearted-ness, like a good Disney film.

On the other hand, the second one felt like watching cheesy anime... it was more melodramatic, convoluted and took itself too seriously.

I meant that they take the same (usually very-specific) basic elements of all their franchises and repeat them. With every new console generation it worked, until our pinnacle of technology made it too obvious.

It was beautiful to see those games remade in 3D. That's what everyone wanted and thought about: "What would this look like if...?" For games like Metroid Prime it was more prominent a thought because it skipped the first generation of 3D consoles.

I'm not saying those elements aren't part of the charm everyone loves. They are welcome, but to not admit they are the same games remade with better graphics (hopefully a different art style, too keep things fresh) is really weird to me.

The names even say it themselves: Metroid -> Super Metroid, aptly renamed for release on the Super Nintendo. As well as answering the question of the player posed earlier, it also satisfies the creator of that franchise to see his vision fully explored.

So my point basically is I'm not saying 'rehash' is a bad thing.
