I thought "L1" cancels follow.

/shrugs

It would on my main that I have on screen, but not on my alternate character on a separate window.

Okay. Sorry, just thought it'd be easier than a macro. I obviously do not understand the workings of doing that. Thanks for being nice about it and explaining it to me.

if you type ?/follow it should give you all of the options for that command.

?/autorun may have it's own options as well.

could be something like this to follow

/target name
/lockon
/autorun on
or
/follow name

and something like this to cancel...
/autorun off
/follow off

again, not home yet to play around. If these don't work, I'll maybe try some when I get home. my mule I just alt tab and click a follow macro. This might be useful at some point to me.

A friend sent me this forever ago, I've not really played around with it, but it simulates key presses to your screen in order to buy Cruor Gear.

If you/someone else is up to it, you could find out how to successfully simulate a keypress and have it press "Numpad 7" or something to make it stop running when you send a certain spell.

Like I said, I've not played around with it (in fact, it was sitting in my Downloads folder >_>;), but it might be some use to you if you can work it out.

This is a whole different route, but you could just try SwitchMon. Set one of your controller keys "start or select" to switch ffxi windows. From there you just hit L1 or joypad back.

I do use SwitchMon when at home. But sometimes I may or may not be kinda sorta just a little bit possibly trying to secretly play on shrunken windows from my computer at my office of employment. A macro would help me tremendously.
