Personality wise, they can have western attributes, but just about any cutscene will point out their Asian-ness. Just look at X. In-game, hard to tell. CGI? AsianAsianAsian

He looks right out of Teriyaki Boyz. You act like Asians all have to have butterfaces.

AsianAsianAsian It's because when they model them... they only have asian people to look at. It makes sense, but they really need to find new models, lol. As for FFX's intended races, I never really cared enough to figure it out, but FFVII's pretty obvious based on their home town, their facial features, etc. Tseng is a pretty lady.

I also read all of the short-stories attached to AC, and they also filled in some more of the holes. But when I first saw the movie, it made no sense whatsoever in the context of the VII universe. it made sense to me, but that's only from seeing the movie and playing the game. none of the other things. An easy way to somewhat agree is to say: They're just whatever race they are in-game. Japanese people will see them as Japanese, Americans will see them as white.

I mean they definitely look Asian CGI, but the in-game sprites, the 'Asian' characters look distinctly more Asian than the 'non-Asian' characters. I dunno. I assumed they were being lazy like with the removal of Cait Sith's mog.
