Happy Birthday Final Fantasy VII!

I've heard quite a few people say that VI was A LOT better than VII

6's story was 10000x better

Why does any of them have to be better than the rest? They are all special in their own ways but I don't see any of them better than the other :P As long as you enjoy it, should it matter? :o

VII was a fantastic game, I saved money for months to buy it (poor family), and when I got it I shat bricks. Replay value is high as there is a ton of optional ***to do, great storyline, good character development, and it holds a ton of nostalgia for me.

Plus, I'm man enough to say when aerith died... I cried. How many games can pull that off?

That being said, it's got some massive pitfalls (cloud ugh...) and I can't say it's the best game ever. Though for it's time, *** yeah it was.

Can we all at least agree that FFXIII was the worst ever? I mean final fantasy mystic quest was harder... and that game was a damn joke.

I enjoyed 13.

Eh, I really don't see the problem with XIII that most people have.

Heaven forbid people enjoy a game that you didn't.

Part of me feels like XIII gets the reverse treatment of VII. So many people tell you VII is the best ever so people believe it. So many people tell you XIII is the worst ever so you believe it.

Better get used to that type of gameplay. When was the last time SE released a turn based game...? (I'm assuming this is why you hate it, since the story isn't bad if you played farther than the first chapter)

I keep hearing mixed things about XIII. I'll end up playing it eventually. I really thing SE does the games a disservice by naming them "Final Fantasy #" because it gives an expectation, then causes you to compare the games since they have the same title, when really all of the games are massively different in gameplay and genre.

The only issue I had with 13 was the quality of the video on the xbox. Soooooooooooo bad.

Equip levelling gets pretty boring once you figure out you can upgrade > sell for profit > upgrade and have ultimate weaps in a few hrs.

Storyline was mediocore (did actually play the entire game), battle system was trash. No strategy involved at all. Can beat the entire game with 2 paradigms. 90% of the game is linear, you can backtrack (a little) and that's about it. Then you get to a point and it's like "aww sweet an area I can actually explore", then most of that map murders you, forcing you to move on with the storyline til' JUST before the final battle... then you can backtrack and do the 1-2 area's of side quests.

100% completion file and 42 hours. Yep.

Quick edit: It's cool if you like the game, I kid about it being the worst ever, but IMO... of all the FF titles, it's the worst by a very large margin.

Nah I won't get 13-2, just like I didn't get 10-2.

10-2 was a pretty enjoyable game, just gets a bad rep because "EWWW ITS ALL GIRLS!!!"

I just refuse to buy spinoff FF titles. Crisis core, dirge of cerberus, 10-2, all that jazz is just SE trying to milk it's loyal customers out of every cent without paying anyone to write some new storlines.

Crisis Core was definitely worth playing. Dirge of Cerberus is ehh, and I really want Before Crisis to be released in the US/Europe :|

CC is worth playing just for the soundtrack. (not to mention its pretty fun)

Lorax's breakdown of 13 is WAY over simplified >_< ugh... I loved that game. The story was engaging, and a lot of the characters were really fleshed out well. The cutscenes were gorgeous, and I liked the fighting style. It did require strategy.

I never played it personally, but I liked this scene:

Lost odyssey is a good rpg, dunno why it just is lol
And last remnant is a good rpg for xbox and pc, in which most if not all fights seriously made you think about what you were going to do.

As for final fantasy games, I've enjoyed playing all of them because they've always brought something new to the table.
I don't look at final fantasy as a whole and say "this isn't as good as 6" I take each game for what it is and play the *** out of it.
If I had to pick a bad Final Fantasy game, it'd be 3, I hated it.
If I had to pick a favorite one I'd have to say 8 or 9.

I don't need to justify myself as to why, those were the games i generally didn't like or loved. ( But honestly I just woke up and don't wanna go into mind overload before 9am :( )

7 was an awesome game, it was the first game I ever played on the Ps1, and I played it with my dad too since it was him that introduced it to me.
Thing that ruined 7 for me, while you couldn't have expectations at the time, the graphics was *** terrible lol, and don't say no, they were. It was like they got pieces of play-doh and Lego and conceived a main character and figured "we'll go with this".
Favorite part of FF7 though; the part I remember the most, was the weapon raid at the start of disk 3 >:3
And the different colour chocobo's was an awesome touch <3

Edit: I will have FF13-2 at some point this week and I will enjoy it, game looooks fuuuuuuuunnnn :D

you can get her best weapon and limit break before she dies, just it's a pain in the ***.
