<_< So everything in this thread has to be 100% positive about the game, I can't just offer my input?
Back to your parade I didn't come to argue or anything.
if you came to my birthday party and started telling me my flaws and how some other person named dustin was better... i'd be annoyed =D. i don't mind you stating your opinions. i just enjoy poking at slip. as far as i know, he's always enjoyed giving and taking. so... yeah...
I don't really care if people don't like FFVII--it's your opinion. But it was certainly a breakthrough in the gaming world back in its day.
Like I've stated before--I'm a cyberpunk junkie, so I'm a huge fan of VII.
Ocarina of Time was mentioned so I'll give my opinion of it so far--I just got the game. It's very fun. All of the NPCs freak me the hell out though, they're so weird. D:

This is where the story really ends. How could they survive this? I think a meteor is the least of your problems, Planeteers. SEPHIROTH: FLAWLESS VICTORY

Too bad all you had to do was set up an All-Cure of some sort right after. That ***was just time consuming. Love the game, but Seph was a joke if you had Omnislash.
I played VII a few years later, around 2001 I think, and while it was a good game, it was so hyped up to me, that I really didn't see what all the fuss was about. It does get a lot more credit then it deserves and I think a lot of that has to go to, that for a lot of people it was their first RPG growing up.
The cutscenes were really nice for its time, since they were the first to do that at that time, but I guess I just n ever really got what all the hype was about.
Happy belated birthday to FF7, since that's a good description of how much I care about it.
FF7 was fun, entertaining, and progressive for its time. I do agree that it is a bit overrated. The only memorable character was Sephiroth and maybe Tifa, MAYBE.
However, since I am a bit younger, the nostalgia factor of a game resides in FF9 for me.

On a lighter note, happy birthday ff7 ^^
I dunno, I find all them memorable in their own right.. Well minus Cloud.. That ***just seemed so fabricated and forced.
I HATED FF7.. the story was so terribly brought together imho. And from what a friend told me the game was supposed to be like 4 discs, but ended up being 3 because one writer left like mid-project or some such jazz. I mean really, you get Aeris's final limit break after she dies, if i'm not mistaken. I think the only way to get it was past disc 2 no? Idk.. That game was just bleh to me.
It's a good game but I agree that it's way too hyped. I started playing FF7 and Xenogears at the same time back in 2001 but opted to focus solely on Xenogears first because the story is just more captivating, at least for me. FF7 is mostly memorable for me because of all of the attention it gets and the Aeris thing, since it was my first time encountering a main/playable character getting offed like that.
It was more of a "right place, right time" type of deal. The PSone saw a huge influx in the amount and diversity of the gamer demographic, and FF7 was there for them. It didn't have to be incredible, and it wasn't. I'm sure if FF6 was in that spot instead of 7, it would be exactly the same deal.
