Gear for Physical Blue Magic Spells at 99

Hi, I just started updating my gear for physical blue magic and was wondering if there was any room for improvement. I'm aware of the obvious earring upgrades, but I don't find 1 stat to be worth 6 million gil on my current budget.
STR/DEX:
Quad. Continuum:
Amorphic Spikes:
Vanity Dive:
Benthic Typhoon:
Couple questions... is STR better than whatever the second modifier of the spell is, or are they equal in potency? And would spells that use only either STR or DEX benefit more from Toci's or should I stick with Magus +1? I honestly don't know the relation in potency of blue magic skill vs. attributes. Thanks for any helpful responses.

fSTR is basically STR30% mod with certain capped value (practically unattainable). You could also gain additional blue attack for stacking STR, just like how you get melee attack from doing so.
Having said that :
- STR/DEX set looks OK
- Change 1 Pyrosoul ring to Spiral ring for Quad Continuum
- I suggest you stick with normal STR/DEX or STR set for Amorphic spikes for the modifier is very low.
- Change shifting Necklace to Kubira Bead Necklace, Mirage Bazubands to Athos's Gloves. Pipilaka is better than Chiner's Belt.
- Benthic Typhoon looks OK. But depending on what you fight, you may swap some acc+ gear there. I personally get mix & match from other STR/DEX gear to save some space.

also, fSTR for blue magic caps at 26; as was previously specified, it's nearly impossible to hit that cap.
Magus body will likely never be trumped, as it is not feasible to overcome the sizable blue magic attack increase while still maintaining a modifier boost for most spells.

You should be casting all physical spells in magus body even if its only the nq. Only reason to ever swap it out when casting is when using chain affinity that is the only time the mods will out perform the blu skill +15. For ammo piece id rather use one of the elemental sachets or mantis eye, mantis eye being a good all rounder for tp, casting and wsing. Makes a difference on the higher level content.
Shame on you two lol should have loads of different sets for blu, tp, casting physical, casting magical, CW, MND/cure pot, wsing, refresh, CA (differs for each spell but almace blus should have high agi set for typhoon).

*edit* i have acc augments on my stuff or hit the mob with evasion down steps so i never see whiffs unless i forget to macro.

Autocrit devalues gains in attack and it has a high STR mod. The accuracy doesn't hurt either when applicable.

If there's anything to argue, switching from Magus Jubbah +1 to Toci's will only cost you 15 "blue attack". Base damage wise, 8 extra STR = 4~5 extra base damage, not to mention 14 extra acc from dex and acc.

Even then it's only 11 attack since the 8 STR will contribute 4 attack.

We'll say capped fSTR and pDIF.
Toci's Harness
103 + 26 + 73 = 202
202 * 2.5 = 505
505 * 3.15 = 1590
Magus Jubbah +1
105 + 26 + 69 = 200
200 * 2.5 = 500
500 * 3.15 = 1575
This is ignoring ACC gains. It's also obviously ignoring the +11 attack from Magus Jubbah, however given that you will crit 100% of the time, that 11 attack is devalued slightly.

So what are the optimal sets now for Physical and Magical Blue Magic? Making my return in a few days to finish Tizona. Haven't touched BLU in about 10 ish months, though I've kept it geared up to a lvl 95 Abyssea equivalent.

I can swap things in and out at whim (eg MAB gear when I'm not using MAB spells, CW stuff etc) but then I still find myself pretty packed in gear.

You basically decide what you're going to be casting and which sets you'll be needing ahead of time, and dump the rest in your satchel.
e.g. If you're not going to fight casting mobs, you don't need to have your MDT set on hand. You don't need to carry nuke sets if you're not going to be nuking, etc.

I've had less inventory problems lately due to multipurpose gear like Athos's boots (Eva, benthic typhoon, haste feet) and similar pieces. I also don't carry every set on me unless I know I will be using it, usually just TP/WS + eva gear (old content) or -pdt gear (current content), -mdt set and that's about it. The rest is in my satchel/sack. Try getting some multipurpose gear and that will cut down on inventory problems.

A question! I know is not of this thread but lazy to make a new one.... I was thinking in af2+2 Mirage Jubbah +2 and stage 2 said "Enhances 'Enchainment' when use Chain Affinity +25TP, but my question is, need to cast the spell with the body ON or can use only for the macro CA? and then switch?

Just a suggestion on the Earring for BT setup, Altdorf's/Wilhelm's earrings. equipping set gives +8AGI and they are free from NMs

Economics... I'd hardly call the time spent camping for those earrings "free". The drop rate is notoriously low.

Got 45 minutes to kill between VW shout ending and LS event? Go kill Goblintrap PHs.
Goaftrap is pretty much always up these days, so going to kill it takes a charge on your Safehold Earring and 5 minutes of your time.
With as much time as people spend doing nothing in Port Jeuno, all attempts of labelling things with opportunity cost in this game are inherently flawed.
Yes, you COULD have been doing something to make money. But, most of those things are tedious, limited to once per day or once per 3 days, require at least one other person, or have a high time investment, and most people aren't doing them all the time.

I haven't gotten that one to drop either, but I just kill PHs while I wait for something interesting to pop up on ffxiah/shouts if I wasn't going to be doing anything else.
It's a nice activity to do while doing HW or studying, too. But I use ApRadar. Spawn Alerts ftw.
