If you really need the Acc in ammo slot, wouldn't Mantis Eye be better?

Any thoughts to improve current sets:

Know the obvious upgrade for Nomkahpa Mittens but dont have 8m atm for them.

Smite (Impetus up):


When Impetus is down I swap in Toci's Harness. If I understand right Nefarious Collar/Rancorous Mantle combo better still working for those... I was thinking Thaumas Nails to replace Kacura+1 but not sure they are better...

TP in Rancor Collar for starters.

And use Thaumas Hat over Aias Bonnet for the set bonus and crit rate. Also change your neck and waist to STR/Attack pieces and use rancorous mantle in the back slot to maintain the crit rate that you replace in the neck slot.

would the hag stone put you over the next x-hit for mnk attack roundwise? and would it increase your total damage output?

using the other normal stp gear for mnk like tantra pants and rajas ring

tenryu tekko +1 with +2 da over melee gloves +2 ?
i haven't touched my mnk in a while , recently got tenryu +1 tekko for my sam and wanted some input.

pretty sure tenryu +1 is better as long as you don't need any of the extra attack or accuracy Melee gloves +2 offer.

Not sure if I messed up my spreadsheet or not, but I have thaumas pants beating af3+2, particularly with acc uncapped using spharai 99. When acc capped, im getting thaum legs (with body set bonus) ~1% ahead in melee dot, but -~7% in tp speed. When acc uncapped I have thaum up in melee damage by ~4% and only down in tp speed by -~4.5%. Since mnk is more melee than ws that should put thaumas pants as winner when uncapped acc, and slight downgrade when acc capped.

No one ever lists thaumas pants in their sets so wondering if I forgot to carry the 1 or something in my spreadsheet. Thoughts?

Not sure of any upgrades for smite build. What else, if anything, should I consider for Impetus down?

I'm in the process of gearing up my Monk for 99, I just got the last of my chloris buds done today and already 25/50 on the fangs. I'm trying to gear up my Monk for use and so far here's the most realistic TP set i can put together in the next weeks or so.


I know between the haste from the hat and gloves are overkill, going to try and get Melee gloves from dynamis and +2 them. I also am currently low on gil (about a mil to my name or so), so some of the other items i'll get in time.

Currently my WS set is non existent.

Just wondering what everyone's opinion is so far and what I should I aim for, I don't really have the means to clear NNI sadly, so as much I as want thaumas gear, it's not gonna happen for awhile :/

I'm not the best to offer pointers but...

I'm assuming you geared Kemas+Tathlum for accuracy reasons and Toci's because you don't have the af3+2 body? Not sure what mobs you're fighting but if you need acc then yeah, get Melee Gloves +2 and/or eat pizza, I don't suggest using Kemas+Tathlum during TP.

With your budget I'd go Ghillie earring over Kemas and Thew bomblet over tathlum. Other than that I think you're okay.

I got he +2 items for the body, just don't have the seals yet for the body, got a feeling I may go crazy trying to get the monk body seals too lol

I got my body seals the hard way. Wouldn't wish that on anyone, but if there were no other options I'd do it. It was a matter of removing pink gear for me, so it had to be done :(

Toci's is really good overall I think, and should hold you over till you can use af3+2 when Impetus is up.

I'm not really sure what resources you have available, nor can I remember if this was replaced (pre-thaumas, that is).

but Oce. +1 head, Ghillie +1 earring instead of kemas, Relic +2 hands, and Hag Stone then that's basically the best Impetus down TP set until you're able to get Thaumas.

For Impetus up you'll want to use something like this:


Nomkhapa being an upgrade if you have the gil, and Tantra Earring replacing Ghillie+1 if your attack and accuracy are capped. If you have Embrava or any kind of regain you shouldn't bother with Hag stone in either TP set.

Most of those are easily affordable, you may just have to farm dyna for a few nights.

Again, those are pre-Thaumas and for all I know may have been replaced since the last time I checked.

Monk body seals are a joke. Just do Cactuar boss in Altepa. Cheap pop items and super easy. Gamayun is just a big waste of time imo and the Iron Giant is annoying.

THF, WHM, BLU, BRD, BLM, and either a NIN or MNK. If you go with MNK, have THF sub NIN.

This is pretty much the best setup for any +1 seals, but it's more of a requirement for this boss. You have all yellow procs covered. You have highest TH. You have stuns from BLM and BLU. You have AoE heals from WHM. As long as your WHM has AF3+2 legs, mana will never be an issue.

If you have MNK instead of NIN, let THF evasion tank at first while you get proc. It's way easier to get the hint and proc when NM health is high. Once you proc, full attack. WHM should only have to single heal THF while looking for proc. After that, should only be using AoE heals every time NM uses needles. BRD sings double march and keeps haste on everyone. Can find hint quickly by spamming threnodies. BLU should have both sudden lunge and head butt set. When NM is below 50% he should be stun locking NM. BLM can use stun as a backup. With double marches, NM should go down pretty dang fast (depends on gear).

Basically the idea is that even though he can and will use 4k needles back to back multiple times, he should never be able to get off more than 1 before your WHM has used Curaga and got you all back to full health. He might get off 2 if a stun is missed, but even 2 back to back is only 1333 damage to each person.

Anyway. I've also done the fight many times without the ideal setup. IE - WHM, BLM, BST/NIN, BST/DNC, BST/DNC, BST/DNC. You won't guarantee yellow, and your TH won't be as good, but you can rotate 8 stuns, and even if you can't stun, you have 10 bodies to soak up needles. NM won't die as fast either, but that shouldn't matter.

That setup is overkill. Two people in range with good PDT gear + a WHM that can rotate Curaga IV/V is easily sufficient. Anything more is just procs/safety margin, and if you really want to get technical it can be done with even less.

Gamayun is actually fairly simple as well. BST can solo easy if you're any kind of bst. I would agree if you have competition, it's probably a waste of time. but if no comp., it's a good route to go.
