So, I was farming in dyna, and I was fighting some fomor PLD.
I wasn't really paying attention, and during invincible, I used requiescat, and it did some dmg, but didn't stagger the mobs. Regular melee hits were still doing 0 dmg.
Idk if ppl know that, but never heard anything about it. Any info on that? The ws is non elemental so...
Edit : I was on pld. The blu wanted to tested it out as well, and it worked as well. We both 5/5.

It cuts through damage resistance and invincible. Elemental type mobs who have a heavy resistance take normal damage from it too.
You don't have to have it fully merited for it to do it either.

Being able to pop these out every 10 seconds with Burtgang OA3 is pretty impressive.
Damage obviously varies with your buffs, but with VW temp item refresh, it's pretty easy to sustain decent damage and an extremely high rate of WS output. I'm enjoying it thoroughly.
Using this set I just threw together (could use improvement):

Not sure if this is right, but would'nt using Aqua rings be better than aquasouls for the Str they have on them aswell as mnd?

How does Req. compare to CDC on VWNM? Also, was your dmg with 5/5 merits?

If you want it to do any real damage you're gonna wanna 5/5 it, if you just want it to do another form of damage for enemys that invincible or take reduced damage (cause atonement and spirit's within isn't enough) then I guess 1/5 is good... if you don't care.

@Leohart: Odds are you're capping fstr with just Str Merits and Twilight gear, but it probably wouldn't hurt. Like I said, the set I posted is just something I threw together, I haven't mathed it out to be optimal.
@Yuriki: Those were all on VWNMs. Without Burtgang it falls a bit behind CDC, with Burtgang OA2/3 Proccing on the WSs it beats CDC pretty easily. To say "which is better" would depend on the mob's damage resistances and your current pDif (attack ratio).
@Aerison: Attack makes a huge difference on that WS.

As well as VW, for new content going forward at least some (hopefully all) of it will not have proc mechanics.

Neo: just to be sure :
I have Lv 90 WoE sword to be able to use CdC.
In your opinion, Sword with -DT + Requiescat could have an edge over it?
Thx in advance for reply

Yeah the -PDT on Burtgang greatly effects the damage on Requiestcat because it has a hidden modifier of making the damage you get reduced, get increased on the mob you are fighting.
And if you cant get a Burtgang then I suggest making a -PDT magian sword!

this is what i wanted to see lol. i'm making excalibur now for my pld. about 30% done. and i'm 5/5 requiescat.
makes me feel a little bit better about it lol.
does anyone want to try and make an item set for Requiescat thats superior to anything? i know attack makes a huge difference in this ws, tried it myself in abyssea. got it to do 4k dmg on sam lol. (went from 2~3k to 4k+ after beserk and stalwarts >.>)

No no lol.
It's the Occasionally attacks twice or thrice (that procs on WS for mythics) that makes Burtgang so powerful with Requiscat.
Also, after some more extensive testing on some of the new T6 NMs, I'm less impressed with Requiscat.
The new WS does great against the old T3 VWNMs, but is pretty horrible against the new upper tier NMs, due to the lvl difference and much higher defense. I find myself sticking with atonement again on the new T6, which is pretty sad tbh. Really no clue why SE would add an attack penalty to a sword WS.

On a serious note, how much damage does atonement do with a lvl 95 burtgang? Has it increased or is it the same as @ 75?

Cap goes up to about 970. However everything added in the last 3 years has 50% magic or spirit damage reduction, so the most you'll ever hit on a NM you'd bring Pld to is 430ish.

I can kinda' see where Neo would be coming from in desiring an Atonement adjustment, but for people without Burtgang, I'm at a loss. CDC is infinitely better than Atonement ever was.

You have to put a moderate amount of effort into getting CDC, and then you have to gear for it, unlike Atonement :<

- Because it was a pointless nerf in the first place
- Because CDC is physical and Atonement is magical/spirit
- Because some of us don't use Almace
But really, does it even matter why? Why wouldn't we want one of our weaponskills to be better, even if it's one we don't use much? If there were patch notes that said "Circle Blade's mods have been changed to 200% STR", I'd take it, even if I haven't used Circle Blade since 2006 or something.

Whether it was pointless or not is inconsequential. Even if it hadn't been, it would still be doing anywhere from two to three times less than CDC(Burtgangs notwithstanding).
It just seems a bit silly to ask for an adjustment that will provide a significantly lesser alternative.

It would let SE play with the game's structure more. Instead of creating mobs with larger and larger HP pool, they could create mobs like the 95 Limit break, and by unnerfing Atonement, let PLDs keep hate, where CDC wouldn't be as potent.

Pretty reasonable suggestion, but until we have any reason to believe that the game would head in that direction, we're essentially asking for a really, really bad WS to be promoted to just bad.
Edit: On second though, that would actually be harmful. PLD would become the premiere DD and tank invariably. Game balance would drift even further into the pits of Hell.
