It's definitely got something to do with melee accuracy, anyway. It's tough to get it to hit DC nightmare ravens without macroing in large amounts of accuracy.

My general advice to people on steps / desperate / other accuracy modded things is to "just macro in whatever accuracy gear you already have lying around for other things"
I still don't think carrying step accuracy gear around is worth anything.
A good example is AF2+2 body. Great piece for steps as well as violent flourish. AF2+2 legs are something you should be carrying around for saber dance anyway, so why not toss them in a step macro! AF3+2 head has 8 accuracy, and you'll be carrying that around too.
You really don't NEED any of that accuracy except in VWNM, but it doesn't hurt to be safe in case you get blinded/acc down/flashed.

I have a question that goes beyond my math compression skills for you wackos that seem to enjoy math. ^^ I read into Byrthnoth's testing on Exenterator and read up on fTP some more and I been trying to find a thread I either saw on here or on BG forums. I couldn't find the thread tho, but I remember them claiming that some, not all, of the new merit ws were acting funky with elemental gorgets. I think it was said that for some ws (I'm pretty sure I read this about Entropy) all hits of the ws got the fTP boost, not just the first one. So my question is in regards to the Exenterator sets posted a few pages back. Where would the elemental gorgets rank? I mean, they're not in there, so they're not that good, but can you roughly explain why?

Exenterator doesn't get the "funky" elemental gorget response, so they are as functional as they were with any other normal multi-hit ws, ie not very.

Technically, these WSs are the ones that get "funky" with it:
* Refulgent Arrow, Jisnhu's Radiance, Last Stand, Blade: Shun, Requiescat, Resolution, Entropy, Ruinator, Stardiver, and Realmrazer
Normally extra-hit fTP is a flat 1 regardless of the first-hit fTP . The above WSs share first-hit fTP across all their hits. So Jisnhu's 3-hit fTP is actually 5.25 without gorgets/belts (1.75*3), or 5.85 with gorgets/belts (+0.2 to each hit). This is instead of the 3.75 (or 3.95 with gorgets/belts) that you would predict with the typical +1 for each extra hit that isn't affected by gorget/belts.
The above example also shows why gorgets/belts are so much better for these WSs. 3.95/3.75 = ~5% improvement in the "normal" case, or 5.85/5.25 = ~10% improvement in the "shared fTP" case. The difference is even larger for weaponskills like Resolution, Stardiver, and so on, because they have lower first-hit fTP so the +.2 fTP constitutes a larger bonus.

Awesome, thanks for those examples + the link. Much obliged. And kudos for figuring out all this stuff.
Edit: heh, my bad, I assumed it was the link for here:

Sorry, that link is actually something this website automatically does if you type fTP with a period after it.

If only he had survived his post performance review. That slip getting up cost him his life.
Seriously though, that's so much more hardcore/sychronized (and red/white/blue) than any American cheerleader thing I've seen all the way up to the college level that it doesn't even register on the same scale.

Um... Since this threads mainly about DNC gear and I didn't want to create a new one xD
Whats better in a idle set
+2 Legs with 15 Evasion or
Darksteel Sub+1 with PDT?
I know for most DD jobs I use PDT, but I know DNC has a high evasion so I didn't know if PDT is still used for idle
By Sylph.Thelona 2012-03-09 06:53:32
Personally I use Merman's Sub for leg idle, I find most random damage is a magic aoe, additionally as you said dnc has high evasion, kind of reducing the usefulness of the other pieces.

AF3 legs would easily surpass Darksteel +1 if evasion is uncapped. That said, how often are you actually getting aggro from a >DC monster outside Abyssea? In all likelihood the PDT will do more for you.
That said, AF3 looks infinitely better than brown underwear.
I've never seen much demand for MDT in idle since you'll have ample time to swap in MDT gear if you get aggro from a caster.
By Sylph.Thelona 2012-03-09 19:07:57
Also have time to swap into pdt gear if something agros you...or just outrun it. Ep and Dc not going to hit you enough to push past regen set anyway.
aoe damage from group events, often magic, won't kill you at least during times that you so happen not to be engaged idling in mdt

Has anyone tested if Etoile Tights +2 need to be worn fulltime to get the bonus to Saber Dance yet?

You have to have them on for the bonus to apply. You can swap them out when you weapon skill etc but if you don't put them back on you just have regular saber dance.
-is slow-

I idle in Athos Tights because it makes people jealous.
As for Saber Dance, as long as they're on you get the bonus, and you do not have to wear them during activation.
Swap to something else for WS.

As far as idle sets go, you really only benefit from regen and movement speed.
Any sort of DT is only benefitting you if you're not paying attention, in which case you're probably dead anyway.
I recommend regen gear, gear that enhances the effect of protect and shell casrt upon you, movement +, and then whatever else you like to look at.
We're not mages who are likely to be "idle" during a battle where we might take damage.

off the top of my head we have o+1 head (2), wiglen gorget( 3) sheltered ring (1), pago-something (2) and garden bangles in the day (1?) Are their any other pieces that I'm missing or are there any augments that you can get for other slots?

Lycopodium sash, scuta cape if you use clipper, but at that point you're really starting to eat inventory and uh, pass into sketchitory.

Haha, that's going from sketch to just stupid...but I did ask didn't I.
Semi unrelated but I had my cursor over an O+1 body on the AH just now...was thinking that the cruel laws of the universe would grant me a Toci's harness on my next Pil run after I splurged almost all of my gil on the body piece w/o a way to sell it back...
