So what happens when the token dies? We're locked out of our account forever? :O

I'm sure customer service will send you a new one (however long that may take.)
Actually, they wont give you another one. Apparently only one is issued per account. The only way to get another is to order on another account, then link it to your main one.

You cant remove a token from your SE account without having a code (this was the issue i ran into). So you need to call SE. It took a very long time for me to get it removed as you need to make a ticket number on their support site, and for some odd reason I kept getting that my answers to my own info i had put when making the account were wrong. I think I ended up making 25 tickets and having the guy input each one until he got a match to my real info and then finally took the token off. The whole process took about a week for me.

funny... i bought mine the day they started selling them... it's still going strong of course, but it only took me 2 days to get it <.<... granted i only live 30 mins from the plant that ships them... neither here nor there.

Wait, I am confused... do you live here, or do you live 30 minutes from the plant?

Got mine with the roll out; it died in a month. I had it on a key chain with the rest of my keys so it is possible the button was being pressed when in my pocket.

Not the best place to keep your token to be honest. Mine just sits near the computer, it doesn't travel with me and my keys, (what for anyway) so I'm not surprised it died on you.

For me, i've had it since I returned to ffxi back in 2009? I've used it daily and multiple times on 2 accounts. I don't see how difficult it would be to replace the battery like someone mentioned, worse case, if you screw up, just call SE for a replacement token.

Some of the people here still haven't gotten theirs.. I've seen at least 2 people say that.

I've had mine since the first wave, and it showed up the next morning lol. College mailboxes GO! It's still going strong too, even after all the 14 beta testing (omfg that first test run, everyone must've used 50+ passwords trying to log into that thing) and I log in multiple times a day (thankyou connection lost!). Haven't had any problems with it. It's very neat ;)

You know that if it dies in like, less than 2 months, their guarantee promised another one. right? :o

Was the code you were missing the code that was on the back of the fob itself? To my knowledge it's just an issue of associating the specific (new) fob to the account. But you lived through that and not me, so that's just my perception of the process.

Well ages ago I broke mine, I just called SE confirmed my account details and they removed my token there and then. They didn't need any code from the fob as I had already binned mine at that stage.

Ah thanks so much for the clarification...at least that's peace-of-mind knowing the process is relatively easy.

They wouldnt let me use the code on the back to remove it.
This happened about a year or so ago. Maybe the process to remove it is beginning to change as this happens to more people. All I know is that the process for me was hell.
That and I was totally unimpressed with the fact they wouldnt give me a new one.

two months ago i had to get mine canceled, they asked only for the passwords i used for the se account thing and they were able to cancel the security token for me. whats hella annoying though is on the pol log in screen you can actually manually set it so that it doesnt require your security token code. it doenst do jack ***though, maybe just an unused feature they planned on adding

Been using mine daily since they were first released. Sometimes several times a day due to logging out and D/Cs. It's still going.
