Started to work on the OAT Polearm, and one of the requirements is 10 Baby Blobs, I was just wondering if anyone has any advise for this NM at 95, sets and such.
I need to low man it really, thinking BLM, BLM, WHM, MNK or PLD, but I'd rather not risk t3 pops on a fight that will potentially fail miserably...
Done it plenty of times THF + w/e + RDM (or whm). Pretty much want evasion job to tank it and someone to deal with babies, THF can aeolian edge them down.
PLD, WHM, THF took him down in about 10 minutes, adds respawned as soon as they were killed by the THF said forget it and used them as easy TP gain to spam WS on Blob.
Altho I have Ochain and that probably changes things for most VNMs I'd assume.
But long story, you're saying 3 jobs with an eva tank can take it?
I've tried that puddle thing, even during rain, and it never worked for me. You can try it though? Yes you can easily eva tank him with someone else on adds + a healer.
Make sure your healer has Shell5 or such though, his Digest can be a bit nasty sometimes so don't stay below 600~700 HP or so. Also try to tank with your back to a wall, his move that pops babies will knock back.
I only dealt with this guy one time... but it involved three fights. I did it with nin+bst+rdm, the bst pulled the babies and I was dual boxing the nin + rdm (or maybe whm). This was at 90 but I remember being able to supertank it for a short time when the bst screwed up (five shadows on ni is cheating).
I had a thf on the side that did absolutely nothing other than shoot a bolt at him as well.
I'll have to try getting a t3 pop later then and see about killing this fool, hoping to get the 10 babys pretty quick, since all the rest of the trials after it are a joke.

Im currently collecting the baby blobdingnags for the oat axe trial, I got 1 drop on the first try and none on the following two. When I started, I assumed 1 is minimum. having only 1 out of 3 so far (which doesnt look like the droprate on wiki too), I might rethink this trial unless I just had really bad luck and it isnt going on like this.
anyone who completed this trial, how many blobdingang kills did you need to get the 10 babies?
no one got any statistics? idm if its not blob but any of the T3 VNM drops for the occ.att.twice magian weapons like krab ruthven or verthandi. how many kills did it take you to get the 10 items?
If you have a thf you are almost guaranteed 1. You will come across bad luck and get 0, but not very often. Usually on trials like this expect to kill it around 7-9 times roughly. But everyones luck is different.
I must have just had bad luck then. we used falcorr so had TH1 but guess that doesnt make up for a thf, will bring one next time.
Thanks for the replies
I managed to finish this trial by now and it turned out I really was unlucky at the start. So for anyone that might come across this thread and is about to do that trial here are the results of my tries:
1st - 1 (falcorr)
2nd - 0 (falcorr)
3rd - 0 (falcorr)
4th - 2 (TH10)
5th - 2 (TH7)
6th - 1 (TH7)
7th - 1 (falcorr) + black abyssite
8th - 2 (TH7) + ring & title + black abyssite
9th - 1 (falcorr) + ring & title (black abyssite already)
on the last try I had the black abyssite still from the 8th kill so it couldnt upgrade anyway. Also I got the muculent ingot twice. Although it is a low sample size, it is remarkable that I got only 0.6 drops per kill even with falcorr's TH, always between 0-1 but 1.75 with a thief, always between 1-2. Sample size is so low it probably doesnt say anything but I would advice anyone to take a thf along too.
All of them were with thf with max TH from gear, sometimes 2 thieves.
I don't know the exact levels of TH per each fight, but the max i did see in the logs was level 8, not sure if others went ninja proced with stacked WS's.
