Previously we implemented some counter measures on the client side to ease fishing difficulty, but we received a lot of feedback to make adjustments to the fishing system itself. We have been planning to make some changes to the system, but due to the workload related to the new expansion, we have not been able to move forward much.
Schedule wise please understand that this will take some time to actually implement, but I’d like to share the current plans for what we would like to adjust.
Fishing skill weight
We are planning to strengthen the boons of having a higher fishing skill, so that if you have a relatively high skill compared to the fish you hooked, you will be able to catch the fish without having to use the controls much at all. Even if your skill is low, we’ll be making it so you will still be able to catch the fish depending on how well you can reel it in, balancing it all so fishing can be performed easily.
Simplification of reeling in fish
As was stated previously, we do not have any plans to completely eliminate the system where players reel in fish since players can still catch fish with proper judgment and actions even if their skill is low.
However, we would like to make adjustments to simplify the controls so fishing can be performed without complexity. Specifically, we would like to make it possible to continue fishing and reduce a fish’s HP by indicating a rod direction once; making it so you can fish without any super difficult controls.
Please let us know what you think about these plans.
With "Fishing Skill Weight" I thought that system was already in place? In example catching crocs is complex and takes forever to deplete their HP yet a moat carp catches in like 2 seconds with a fast rate of depletion? Because level 110 versus level 11?
Am I missing something with that? Also what is complex about the controls? Pulling left or right in the opposite direction the bar depletion is hard?
I think they want you to feel more accomplished for capping fishing skill really, well, for all those legit fishers out there :o
It really will make it easier to enjoy fishing without being constantly bombarded with changing directions and releasing it just at the right time so you don't recover the stamina of the fish.

I can see that I suppose. 110 Skill + Ebisu and all the moghancements/skill+ is going to be pretty epic then if they follow through with it. I'm not going to argue with making something easier and more relaxing lol.

Idk bout you but when I started the game and just tried fishing for fun, on my keyboard I had no idea how to fish :/ I think a one time pop of an arrow would be great for people just starting out fishing.
Lmao who's Butthurt now? Are you mad because 1. haks are your main source of gill and your to lazy to earn it? Or 2. That thers xbox players like me that have more and are overall better players than you without cheating? I'm confused did i hide anything? No. Did i use windower to put my weapons on here like everyone else? Sure. Am i a lame *** fishbotting GIMP that needs a timer to tell me provoke is every 30 secs? I think not. I wouldn't assume this post will stay up long im done with you. Back to Fishing topic Thank You.
Call me crazy, but I don't see any exceptional gear on your profile. No legion gear or NNI gear, which, if present, would suggest you might be an average or above average player, 1 99 emp, 1 99 relic, and a bunch of 90 emps and af3 +2. Congrats on being a standard player in 2012, I guess.
There are a lot of windower users/botters who have less than you, and a whole lot of windower users/botters who have a great deal more :/
fyi, shields' owners list is broken on here. he doesn't have 99 emp at all, and probably a no on aegis too.
Oh, I see. Thanks for the info :o
In that case, grats on your super impressive collection of abyssea gear. I don't know how you managed to master it. Teach me how to fly high above the ranks of the cheaters and make a bunch of 3 day emps.
They don't need to directly nerf Haks. They need GMs to do frequent sweeps of the coast in Beauc asking people to walk straight lines and recite the alphabet backwards and ***, like holiday DUI checkpoints.
Fishbots set up with even a bare minimum of care produce afk fishers capable of doing all of those things.
In that case, I need to find one of those fishbots to be my designated driver on Christmas then.

Dude... I had an exam and I missed clowning on you for your gear.
Here's the thing:
All things held equal (gear, jobs, items, strategies) any PC player can still outperform you.
It comes from the ability to use an .xml and the spellcast plugin. It allows any pc windower player to change any and all gear in a single swap upon any preset condition.
This is to say, even if you had the same sets and same gear, and you were perfect in pushing the RIGHT scenario macro (buffs/weather/ws/hate), you would have to push more macros than the PC player does.
In other words, as the proverbial limit approaches perfection, PC players always outperform console players.
Don't worry though. It seems you're so far from the min/max mark, in terms of gear and grammar, that it won't matter.
Furthermore, your moral high ground will get you all the girls!

;;...;;...;;... Keep hiding your profile i value your comments
People should be able to play as they please (as long as it doesn't disrupt other players game play), it doesn't make you a better player doing something differently than someone else.
The only thing that matters is how you perform within the group. I expect people to give 110% of what they are capable of, and I want everyone to try to get better every time. I don't want people slacking off, I want people to work as a team.
Team work is what this game is all about. Working together to take down a mighty foe, that's what matters. Not whether one person is using scripts or not, or if you're doing all the work on your crappy 12 year old system that can't even open the cd drive anymore.
This bs about people taking the high road cause they don't cheat is ridiculous. If you don't break the ToS good for you, but I expect just as much out of you as I would from someone else. If you can do your job, good, but that doesn't make you better, that only means you're capable of doing your job.
It looks like the fishing update is simply going to make things easier?
Why can't they make Zaldon a bit more generous instead;;?
RNG's give more depth to game play, allowing players to experience the depth of the task more than others. Working harder towards your goals builds digital character, making you a better player all around!

or something like that.
Usually things that "build character" make me money instead of costing money;;
There are fishing topics that come up now and then but mainly are asking a question for a single answer. I know there are many fishers that visit these forums so this is an attempt to get people involved and have a little fun discussing one and only one thing, fishing!
The emotions of fishing.
I know Blue Gartr has a Fishing topic already, but I would like to see this community get involved a little bit and talk, since not everyone visits BG. I would love to have a topic just for fishers including veteran fishers, casual fishers, and even players just starting out and want to ask a few questions without being embarrassed about starting a whole topic for a simple answer they could not find.
I only ask that you keep any bot talk to a minimum, preferably none.[Moderator edit: No bot talk] I want this to be a place where we can discuss anything from GP items of the day to what lure/bait to use or what area is best. A quick mention of how you're doing on the lu shang/ebisu quest, how you're doing getting your fishing items from Grounds of Valor, that item you're saving your GP up for, or how much you wish you could hurt Zaldon for not finding anything in your fish for the 10,000th time. Your lucky moment streaks and the moments when you have nothing come your way and question why you started fishing in the first place. Anything that comes to mind, think of it as the random thoughts thread for fishing.
I will list a few resources that I find to be useful when it comes to fishing:
BG Fishing Topic Great Blue (Amazing Site <3, is out dated since 2008 but an amazing resource regardless) Final Fishing (Another great resource with one of the most in-depth guides made. Out of date though.)
Fish Size Chart [GE][Wikia] Chenon Diary (The site seems to be down for good though, it was a site made for Fish Ranking)
I shall add more if people provide good resources.
