Summarized into this:
Quote:
Anyone know of a site that is consistently and reliably cheaper than them(cardkingdom.com)?

I've been playing Magic for quite a while now, and Ive just gotten into serious deck building. I have a local card shop, but it isn't that great, and I need a place to get just like, the 4th card for a play set, stuff like that. Not interested in game-destroying stuff like Caw-blade. I've ordered a bit from cardkingdom, just because they are just across the state from me, but after searching around, they're really expensive. Anyone know of a site that is consistently and reliably cheaper than them?

this site has a bunch of stores connected to it, and it shows you the price and condition of the card

I used CardShark a lot back in college when my roommates and I were ordering stuff for all levels of play. It's a bit hit or miss, but you can find some really nice deals there if you're willing to take the time to sift through everything.

starcitygames.com

This is the standard for pricing on MtG singles for any serious MtG player.

Since when is Ebay a good place to go for decent prices on singles?

Always. My brother used to sell all the cards he got from running MTG tourneys on Ebay. It's an excellent place to get them.

Excellent place to find cards, sure. It's not always a reliable way to get them at a decent price, or at least that has been my personal experience. Shipping costs add up pretty quick too when your cards are coming from a bunch of different sellers. I really wouldn't recommend Ebay as a first option.

Honestly, Ebay isn't a bad option if you use another site (such as Starcitygames) to check to see if the price is below retail. If it is, then purchasing there isn't terrible. If you are looking for bulk, mainstream sites like Starcitygames are good to use.

That's true about the shipping cost, if you were going to use Ebay you should definately look to find someone who sells regular and buy them from one guy, though I get that it's not necessarily that easy. He also had a real decent place to buy cards from, I'll see if I can get in touch with him and find out what it was.

eBay - Always cheaper if you're willing to squat out and bid at the last minute on 5-7 day listings. Never fails. Also keep in mind Magic has a lot of speculators and sharks, so whenever a banlist/rotation hits, there's a lot of speculation on card prices, so they will immediately undercut other people to gain value before the cards become dollar bin rares.

Starcitygames - Not always cheap. Online retailers such as Starcity/Trollandtoad/Cardkingdom will always be "fair" than a brick and mortar store. Don't expect good deals unless there's been an overnight price hike due to a new deck type discovered. Some online stores don't pick up on the price change until someone completely buys out their stock in a single order (EX: Blazing Shoal and Vendilion Clique).

There isn't an online site that just undercuts other sites. You just have to dig and compare. Use TCGplayer.com if you really want to nickle and dime for savings. Just remember, in the end the shipping prices are the deal breakers.

Trollandtoad always has a fixed USPS .99 cents shipping compared to other sites.

Also, never bid on any card under NM~M. Each seller has their own grading system, so if you bid on something maybe LP~EX, you'll probably going to get cards with cheetoes stains and various bodily fluids (no joke).
