Yes, I'm using /ma "Sudden Lunge" <t>, results in a command error.
It's similar to the SMN glitch a while back.

If you want to debate the merits of a sub based on situations that don't exist that's fine, but specify that you're doing so beforehand so those of us that care about practical applications can ignore it. If you're going to /THF you'd use a different spell that doesn't autocrit anyway so that you'd get some sort of meaningful damage increase instead of just forcing the spell to land.
I've never claimed I'm always right, but if you want to behave childishly that's your prerogative.

Childish? I'm not the one nitpicking at things that weren't even in question to begin with. Is it really that hard to fathom the concept of "the only time such and such could be useful is if x-situation existed."

You'd still be better off tossing out a nuke rather than wasting an entire subjob. :/

I'm not really debating that though, I'm just saying that currently the only time Heavy Strike would reliably land on a consistent basis is if you subbed thf and if for some reason thf is the desired sub, then it's for more than just damage but also for utility. Course, other subs offer more these days but the key word in this whole thing is "if."

And *if* there was such a situation, you still wouldn't be using SA with Heavy Strike.

Still doesn't change the fact that the only way Heavy Strike is gonna land on each cast is if you SA it. Not that it's viable or that you'd want to use a different spell. I don't know why you can't understand that point? But I get your shtick. The I'll-nitpick-at-things-that-are-besides-the-point-and-then-speak-in-a-condescending-manner-while-whipping-out-the-umad?-so-I-don't-seem-like-a-***-card.
Go ahead, post a counter point yet again that's in all honesty not relevant.

You asked if it was the return of BLU/THF. I said no, explained why, and you have since come up with increasingly more extravagant excuses for why this should still be treated as a serious discussion and been incredibly passive-aggressive about it the whole time. Now you're falling back on stating the obvious (the only way to make any physical attack land 100% of the time is SA. Obviously there are alteratives but you're more interested in fruitless ideas). Is there any reason I shouldn't be condescending to you about this? Heavy Strike and /THF don't mix. End of story.
This is the second time you've claimed to understand me in some fashion and you're currently 0/2. Why would I pretend not to be a *** to you?

If the point is that the only way to consistently land HS with it's poor acc is through SA then why would you keep pointing out that you'd use other spells be they magic or other physicals? Obviously Blu/thf isn't making a comeback which is why time and again I've said "If." Not that anyone should /thf or that SA HS is a good or bad choice for damage, just that it'll land. Simple as that, or did you miss every time I said "the only way to land HS consistently is if you /thf" (read: it's not worth using unless you know it'll land, in other words, just don't use it til it's fixed.)
"Yeah, gimping your melee damage just so you can get the spell to land once a minute is a fantastic idea. No."
Naw, you weren't being a *** at all, my bad bro. >_>

Now you're just trying to safeface with stuff that's 'right' so people can't disagree with you, thus proving Nightfyre 'wrong'.
Yeah we're not that dumb, sorry.

Save face? Rite, cuz I'm the one who just tried to speak on behalf the forum with my "so people don't think you're wrong" or "we're not that dumb." Nice try.
Believe it or not, I don't think you're wrong. There's nothing to be wrong about. What started as "only way you can land it every cast if you /thf" (no right or wrong about it, just truth) has turned into your inability to accept that it's just that. Not me trying to advocate it, not x-sub is better, not x-spell is better with x-ability.
Jesus man, not every concept is meant to be scrutinized the way you have this one. But like I said, I get your shtick - being a *** is your thing. I bet I could say the sky is blue and you'd argue against that cuz it's what you do.
It's 6:30 am, I'm going to sleep. Don't let me down though, prove to me that the sky isn't blue, I'm counting on ya.

You're honestly not worth arguing with. I don't see why you're even mad, Nightfyre wasn't being mean or condescending at first. He was just stating that /THF isn't a viable option ever, and it's not worth using to make one lousy spell stick. Others then pointed out that even if you were /THF(in a completely hypothetical situation that'll never exist) there's better things to be using SA with, than Heavy Strike.
You then continued on with your psycho-babble, which honestly everyone already knows. We KNOW /THF will allow Heavy Strike to land. We don't care, it's not worth doing. It's not even worth doing to 'get hate on your tanks'. There's other spells for that. And that's not even a situation that'll ever happen, so honestly why are you even trying to argue this...?
If you read everyone's posts over carefully, you were the one who was hostile first, for absolutely no reason. >_>; I'll honestly be surprised if anyone else responds to you, you're basically like talking to a brick wall, except you're fluffier.

Don't let me down though, prove to me that the sky isn't blue, I'm counting on ya. okay, let's assume you were just saying it to say it. then your example is a good one; you're saying that you simply said something obvious that everyone already knew. your saying that subbing thf will improve accuracy of hs is no different from if you had instead come in to say that the sky is blue.
usually when people say something obvious, they're trying to make a point. so i'm sorry that people didn't understand that you were just randomly saying obvious things, and overestimated you thinking you were actually trying to make a point.

Valefor.Prothescar said: »Pretty much. Also it seems that there's a glitch with Sudden Lunge, you can't cast it if there's a BST in the party as far as I can surmise. Sure that's not Spellcast? Right now it treats Sudden Lunge as a BST move, /raw /ma "Sudden Lunge" <t> should work. I can confirm this is the case. I learned it last night and tried to use it and it did nothing. After unloading sc I was able to cast.

I don't see how you can Sneak Attack Heavy Strike when your subjob is /DNC for the events that this stupid discussion is relevant to.

I'm also having an issue with Blue af3+2 hands and spellcast.
They have indeed been renamed, but spellcast doesn't switch them however they are called, mavi bazubands, mavi bazuband, mv. bazubands, nothing.
Am I alone on this?

Am I alone on this? IIRC, the item name needs to match what is listed in the resources. If the resources haven't been updated for the new item name I don't think SC will be able to do anything with it. I'm not at home to test anything though. From personal experience though, trying to use new gear with spellcast generally crashes it.

I think that Heavy Strike not only has fragmentation but also transfixion. I don't know if the transfixion part was known yet, but I was messing around using Azure lore and did Heavy strike to Vanity dive which resulted in Distortion.

Sudden Lunge is now my favourite spell in the entire game.
That is all.
Edit: Able to stun lock Minhacao to be able to stop pretty much all regular attacks. Head butt saved for tp moves. Nothing got off what so ever. I know it's hardly a difficult NM... But still. I woulda expected the stun to be weaker vs NMs.

You can stun something and get a teleport off. Casting ichi won't be a problem with anything this lands on.

| Based on feedback and Test Server results, some adjustments have been made to blue mage spells.
For balance purposes, the intention is for Heavy Strike to be very powerful, but with a higher chance to miss. Dark Orb was adjusted to balance cost performance in comparison to other Blue Magic.
Please try these out on the Test Server and provide feedback.
This is a follow-up to the previous post about Sudden Lunge.
We will work on fixing skillchain not showing up visually and in the logs, when Sudden Lunge produces a skillchain. (This is just a visual bug, and the effects of skill chain are actually triggered.) |
