Nat Type For FFXIV?

Does opening Nat type lessens lag? Is this true?

Forwarding ports is what I think you are trying to get at.

10 years experience in network engineering here.. your answer is no. A router will add a little latency each hop (if its working right is probably a microscopic amount) but forwarding any ports on that won't help in any way because it's not required and could make things worse by compromising your security or filtering traffic the wrong way.

If you have lag or poor internet connection try some ping tests and call your ISP and make sure you are receiving the proper quality for their service contract.

I see. Well my download and upload speed is pretty well performed when I conducted a speed test.

Upload 4.19 mbps

Also connection is different from wifi vs direct ethernet cable of course, which is why I use ethernet for FFXIV to lessen lag. I was just confused about a talk regarding nat type relating to this.

Opening port does make me download update within 10-15min vs 1+hours so for that i open my port for ffxiv just to download updates. Seeing how SE have not yet fix there download issue.
